  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the influence of post-traumatic stress on professional quality of life as mediated by cognitive emotion regulation among nurses working in small and medium hospitals who have experienced violence and to develop and test a structural equation model of that professional quality of life. Methods: Participants were 215 nurses who had experienced violence working in medium and small hospitals. They were surveyed using a structured questionnaire. Results: The final model was shown to have good fit with χ2 (2.83), GFI (.90), TLI (.90), and CIF (.90). Therefore, the model was selected as the final model, supporting 7 of the 11 hypotheses. Post-traumatic stress, adaptive emotional regulation, and maladaptive emotional regulation had significant impacts on empathy satisfaction (professional quality of life subscale) and empathy fatigue (subscale of professional life quality) among nurses who had experienced violence, and the explanatory power of these variables was 28.7% and 38.6%, respectively. Conclusion: In the development of nursing intervention programs to improve the professional quality of life of nurses who have experienced violence, factors such as post-traumatic stress and cognitive emotion regulation (adaptive and maladaptive) should be considered as they were identified in this study as influencing the professional quality of life of such nurses in medium and small hospitals.

  • This study investigated the self-related and parental factors that influence depression in 204 adolescents from a low social economic status background. The self-related factors were self-trust and emotional regulation, and the parental factors were parental concern and domestic violence. The results showed that girls were more likely to be depressive, but had better emotional regulations and a closer relationship with their parents than boys. There was no significant difference between age groups with respect to parental concern, self-trust and emotion regulation. It was also found by regression analyses that girls' depression was predicted by both emotional regulation and parental concern while boys' depression was predicted only by self-trust. The finding suggested that intervention for boys' depression has to focus more on intrapersonal factors, but should emphasize interpersonal factors for girls.

  • In this paper we propose a for high school students who are attending a nationwide city with experience in Internet pornography, we would like to find out the impact of Internet pornography experience and self-regulation on sex crime harmful behavior. For this study, an Internet panel survey was conducted using a purposeful method of significant allocation inference. During the period, 246 copies of the questionnaire were distributed for about a month from May to June 2018 and 210 parts were analyzed except for 36 parts with no experience of pornographic material, and further analysis was conducted on 85 respondents with experience in harmful behavior of sexual violence. To this end, analysis tools used the SPS WIN 20.0 program version. The research results are as follows. First, we could find that Internet pornography has a negative effect on teenagers. This shows the probability of developing sexual violence into behavior as people can experience pornographic material regardless of their will due to the high Internet access. Second, the self-regulation of sexual violence behavior is found to have no direct impact. This is not just the adolescent's will to do so, but it is affected by the external environment. Third, self-regulation has proven its role as a modulator to mitigate negative perceptions of Internet pornography. Based on this, the proposal for limiting current prices was discussed.

  • This study is designed to contribute to the nursing intervention of adolescent domestic violence victims by describing specifically what they go through and on this basis work out a grounded theory on the adolescent's experience in domestic violence. The data were analyzed in the framework of grounded theory as mapped out by Strauss & Corbin(1990). The major findings of this research are as follows : The core category was found to be the the adaptation of "Joyudeum" or “Straight jacketing”. The sub-categories identified in the process of grounded data analysis were 'menacing', 'being harassed', 'being pressed', 'being attacked', 'being strapped', 'being filled with anger'. 'getting angry', 'being oppressed', 'being strained', 'becoming hard', 'endurance', 'regulation', 'seriousness'. 'repitition'. 'being helpful', 'dependence', 'thinking oriented', 'blowing off', 'going astray', 'self-deprecating', 'shaking off', 'covering up', 'governing', 'being devoted', 'performing', 'being transformed'. 'bolting', 'being shaken', 'withdrawing', 'disliking', 'bitterness'. These categories were again grouped into 13 categories including 'threatening'. 'straight jacketing', 'tolerance', 'violence', 'supporter', 'supporting type', 'thinking oriented'. 'impulsive response', 'self-controlled', 'response', 'self-reliance', 'wandering', 'withdrawal' and pain'. Of these the five sub-categories 'being filled with anger'. 'getting angry', 'being oppressed', 'being strained', 'becoming hard' were grouped into a core category "straight jacketing". Those adolescents brought up in a violent family go through three stages of the adaptation of "straight Jacketing". that is, generation, response and adaptation. The following four theses were confirmed on the basis of repetitive relations : 1) If a subject's tolerance is strong, the episodes of the violence are frequent and serious, with the resulting straight jacketing being stronger but the subject's supporter is highly mature, the supporting type is concrete and the thinking oriented is wishful, the responses to the straight jacketing result in a self-control whose consequence is self-reliance with part of it resulted in withdrawal and pain. 2) If a subject's tolerance is weak, the episodes of the violence are frequent but not serious, with the resulting straight jacketing being weaker but the subject's supporter is immature, the supporting type is superficial and the thinking oriented is extemporary, the responses to the straight jacketing result in an impulsion whose consequence is wandering with part of it resulted in withdrawal and pain. 3) If a subject's tolerance is weak, the episodes of the violence are frequent and serious, the straight jacketing is strong, the subject's supporter is immature and the supporting type is superficial but the thinking oriented is wishful, the responses to the straight jacketing result in an impulsion whose consequence is withdrawal and pain with part of it resulted in wandering. 4) If a subject's tolerance is strong and the episodes of the violence are infrequent and not serious, the straight jacketing is weak, the subject's supporter is immature and the supporting type is superficial but the thinking oriented is wishful, the responses to the straight jacketing result in a self-control whose consequence is withdrawal and pain with part of it resulted in self-reliance.

  • Purpose: This study examined the factors associated with depression among Korean graduate students. Specifically, personal (self-efficacy, stress), environmental (violence experience, economic state, and relationship conflict), and behavioral (health behavior) factors were analyzed. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional study design. One hundred and fifty participants currently enrolled in graduate programs were recruited. Google Drive was used for online data collection. Descriptive statistics, correlational analyses, and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted. Results: First, 52% of the participants were male, with an average age of 28.05(±3.19). Master's students comprised the largest proportion (63.3%). Approximately about 38.7% were engineering majors. Second, approximately 27.3% had depressive symptoms; and 7.3% had major depression. Third, there was a significant correlation between personal, environmental (financial burdens), and behavioral factors. Fourth, hierarchical regression analysis revealed a lower depression level to be associated with a higher self-efficacy level and health behavior. In contrast, a higher depression level was related to violence experience. Conclusion: The government should press on establishing rules on the prevention and regulation of violence in universities, and impose strong disciplinary measures to root out the problem. In addition, universities must pay attention to the mental health of graduate students and establish systems to manage them.

  • It is a general recognition that more serious criminal acts in a certain area of society should be given more serious condemation than the same general crimnal act. In particular, considering the purpose of the medical treatment and the trust relationship between the doctor and the patient, the sexual violence by doctor in medical field can not be placed on the same line as that of the general public. But the special legislation to solve this through criminal legal sanctions is not desirable. The basic principle of criminal law ist ultima ratio, so the principle of supplementality. It means to try to solve by all possible means and finally to enter with punishment. A flat and hasty Reaction without the considering of the speciality of medical treatment will cause serious cracking in that area. In addition, it will not be able to expect desirable results in legal practice by breaking down the legal system. Rather, administrative regulation is more efficient than punishment sanctions. But the best way is autonomous control by members of the medical area. Penalties in criminal law must make an enterance at the last, and administrative regulation should be timely intervene in specific situations through diversification. In conclusion, state interventions should be farthest in order to proceed to autonomous control of medical area.
