빈센트 반 고흐 풍경화의 의도된 건축경관 특징 연구 (A Study on Designed Architectural and Landscaping Characteristics of Vincent Van Gogh's Landscape Paintings)

  • This study is an architectural and landscaping analysis view to rural landscape paintings painted by Vincent van Gogh in the late 19th century. The purpose of this research is to discover the expressive techniques of Western art that Van Gogh's landscape paintings have, and to understand the characteristics of the architectural object in his landscape paintings from February 1888 to April 1889 in Arles, southern France. The method of this study is to analyze the landscape paintings of Van Gogh painted during 15 months in Arles. Among the total paintings in Arles, 47% of the paintings he made were landscapes. The following conclusions have three views. First, Vincent van Gogh was born into a Protestant family in the Netherlands and become an artist in his late twenties. While living in Arles, he painted prolific landscapes. Farming, farmers, and rural area related to normal living are the main subjects of paintings. It can be seen as showing the view that everyday life is sublime and should be included as a unitary value. Second, Gogh's rural landscape paintings were painted with linear and aerial perspective with other the expressive techniques, and plane painting structure that leads to two dimension. Third, from an architectural point of view, Van Gogh's paintings depicted simple vernacular architecture such as traditional rural house, mas, thatched houses, and mills in southern France. This means the normal value of the rural landscape through the eyes of the painter.

A Color Study of the Sky Area Focused on the Van Gogh's Paintings

  • This research analyzed the importance and influence of color expression on psychological and emotional changes of visual perception in the creation of art works. This research takes the element of the sky in the works of Vincent William Van Gogh, a Dutch post-Impressionist representative painter, as the basic research objective to prove the influence of color expression of the same thing on the inner emotional communication of the creator. After synthesizing the contents of previous research and investigation on Van Gogh, this research will summarize the works containing sky elements in Van Gogh's works according to his four creative stages, and select representative works for color analysis and comparison. In this paper, by comparing the colors of the same elements of the sky, we can find Van Gogh's guidance of psychological and emotional changes through the expression of colors in his works, which will play a certain inspiring role in the creation of painting art.

  • 배경: 본 연구는 반 고흐의 특징적인 노란색 표현에 대한 다양한 가설을 살펴보고 그 원인을 검증함으로써 예술가에게 색채표현의 의미가 무엇인지 살펴보는 것이다. 목적: 본 연구는 노란색의 구도자로 대변되는 빈센트 반 고흐의 특징적인 노란색 표현이 알토올 중독에 의한 생리적 반응의 결과인지, 정신증적인 문제로 인해 나타난 표현특징인지, 아니면 심리적 동기에 기인한 문제인지를 밝히는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 방법: 연구문제를 검증하기 위해 고흐의 증상을 연구한 연구논문들과 고흐 본인의 기술이 담긴 글 그리고 심리학자와 정신의학자 등 다양한 분야에서 고흐의 작품특성을 분석한 연구문헌을 참고하였다. 결과: 고흐의 노란색 선호는 알코올과 관련된 황시증과 정신증적 증상과는 관계가 없는 것으로 보이며 내적 동기 등 심리적 요인인 것으로 추정된다. 결론: 고흐의 특징적인 노란색 색채표현은 심리적 요인이 작용한 것으로 보이며 예술가의 특징적인 색채표현은 그 내부에 심리적 동인이 커다란 영향을 가져다준다는 것을 알 수 있다.

  • Vincent van Gogh is a Dutch postimpressionism artist that is one of the most influential painter of the 20th century with his vivid colors and sensibility. 'The Bedroom at Arles' is the art piece that van Gogh himself had admitted to be a great artwork, which also reflects the story of his life and inner thoughts. The spacial characteristics of 'The Bedroom at Arles' are amanufactures the following. First, the space shown at 'The Bedroom at Arles' exhibits the phenomenon of undoing the law of perspective by authorizing individual existence to the objects and space, instead of fitting in the objects into the space in the order given by the law of perspective; entirely rearranging the reminiscent space from past. Secondly, the expression 'bedroom' reflects that the subject was about his own experience with the space and a representation of his imagination, which is a metaphorical symbol. Thirdly, van Gogh used strong colors and brush touches to express his subjective opinion, which aren't the actual shades of the scene, but chosen only to approach the space and objectives with his own symbolic interpretation from his heart. Through a synthetic overview of the characteristics of van Gogh's 'The Bedroom at Arles', it could be told that he holds an essential Space perception system, in hir inner self. The space is intentionally rearranged and strangely altered to form an entirely new relation, breaking the tension from the systematically stable rules and orders. 'The Bedroom at Arles' seems to express an unique and symbolic sensation and experience through the combination of its colors and spacial structure.

  • 빈센트 빌렘 반 고흐(1853-1890)는 후기 인상주의를 대표하는 인물이다. 후기 인상주의는 프랑스 미술사에 있어 인상주의를 뒤이은 미술 사조로 20세기 예술 중 특히 야수파와 표현주의에 지대한 영향을 끼쳤다. 반 고흐의 인생과 작품은 시대를 초월해 많은 문학, 영화, 소설, 시, 음악 등을 통해 소개되고, 재현되었다. 본 논문은 이러한 고흐의 인생과 작품세계가 유화 애니메이션을 통해 어떻게 각색되고 재현되는지 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 후기 인상주의 배경과 특성 그리고 고흐의 고독한 일생 및 작품세계에 대한 문헌고찰을 진행하고, 이를 바탕으로 유화애니메이션 에 대해 사례분석을 진행한다.

회화에 나타난 색채상징성 및 색채심리 - 빈센트 반 고흐와 구스타프 클림트의 그림에 나타난 색채비교를 중심으로 - (Symbolism and Psychology of Colors in Painting - Focusing on a Color Comparison between Vincent Van Gogh and Gustav Klimt -)

  • This study aims to examine associationistic psychology and psychological operation associated with each color image, then to study the relation between particular colors used in paintings produced by Gogh and Klimt in different times and these painters' psychology in a bid to explore the meaning and role of psychological operation of colors. The findings of the study indicated that red and blue colors represent mainly negative images, while yellow and orange colors represent mainly positive images and psychologies. Specifically, in the case of Gogh, red expresses anxiety, a negative image, yellow symbolizes passion, a major positive image of emotional liberation, dark and thick green and the green involving blue symbolize negative images, emptiness and despair, and blue represents negative images of internal desire conflicts, and screaming. Also, purple used together with white represents anxiety and depression. In the case of Klimt, red represents negative images of anger toward mother and suppressed energy, yellow, an alternative to gold color, symbolizes the positive image of hope, passion, desire and eroticism, the arrangement of strong gold and orange colors represents a color of psychological healing more than a color of hope. As such, colors used in paintings produced by modern Western painters express the physiological conditions, psychological feeling and emotion in life, at the time when the artists produced such works. It was found that colors are yet another language of expressing emotions, and symbolize the psychologies of the artists, indicating that colors have something to do with the painters' experience and emotional impulses.

  • 다양한 디지털 콘텐츠 생성 기술은 최근의 컴퓨터 및 태블릿 PC의 발전으로 더욱 널리 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 실제 화가의 스케치 작품을 분석해, 그와 유사한 스케치 효과를 생성하는 기법을 제안한다. 이를 위해, 우리는 반 고흐의 실제 드로잉 작품을 분석하고, 각 객체별로 사용된 스케치 스트로크의 패턴을 분석하고 DB를 구성한다. 그리고 이를 기반으로, 각 오브젝트별로 해당 스트로크 패턴을 적용하여 스케치 효과를 재현하였다.

  • In the latter part of the $20^{th}$ century, the road in American culture has been identified with independence, mobility, and speed, but in his seminal poem, "Song of the Open Road," Walt Whitman characterized road journeys as simultaneously physical, intellectual, and spiritual, a view embraced by Vincent Van Gogh whose Terrace of a Caf? at Night illustrates in paint what Whitman said in words. Others such as Jack Kerouac in On the Road followed in Whitman's tradition, one taken up even more recently by David Lynch, whose films are best known for a condemnation of American suburban life, but whose Straight Story evokes a profound spirituality as part of the road. This essay explores spirituality in these various texts.

명화차용 인터랙티브 광고와 인쇄광고가 개인의 조절초점 성향에 따른 기억과 태도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Art Infusion Interactive and Print Advertising on the Memory and Attitude According to the Reguratory Focus)

  • 본 연구는 명화 차용 광고의 유형(인터렉티브형/ 인쇄광고형)과 조절초점(촉진초점/ 예방초점) 간에 기억 효과와 광고태도 효과를 싱험을 통해규명하였다. $2{\times}2$ 피험자간 요인설계를 하여 Two Way MANOVA분석을 통해 검증하였다. 명화 차용 광고 실험물은 '빈센트 반 고흐'의 '자화상'을 변형하여 조작하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 촉진초점 소비자들은 명화 차용 인터렉티브 광고를 인쇄광고보다 광고 관련 정보를 많이 기억하였으며, 광고 태도 역시 촉진초점 소비자들은 예방초점 소비자들과 비교하여 인터렉티브 광고를 긍정적으로 인식하였다. 둘째, 예방초점 소비자들은 촉진초점 소비자들과 반대로 명화차용 인쇄광고를 인터렉티브 광고보다 제품 관련 정보를 회상하는 경향이 두드러지게 나타났다. 이에 명화차용 광고를 기존 인쇄 광고나 방송 광고에서 확장하여 IT 기술과 접목한 인터렉티브 형태로 제작하여 흥미를 유발하여 기억과 태도에 영향을 미치기 위해서는 디지털 미디어를 통한 접근이 효과적이라 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 명화차용 광고를 인쇄 뿐 아니라 인터렉티브 미디어로 확장하여 실증적으로 연구되었다. 그러나 향후 연구에서는 명화광고의 유형을 다양화하여 실험을 할 필요성이 제기된다.

  • This study analyzes the visual perceptual difference of observers in the artworks created by human artists and artificial intelligence(AI) through eye-tracking. More specifically, the study analyzes the degree of visual attention through a fixation experiment on non-linguistic sources such as the formation and expression of artworks. As a result of this study, the subjects had guessed that one out of four artworks were created by AI (in actuality, 61.1% of the artworks were created by The Next Rembrandt). This demonstrates that most of the subjects hardly recognized the difference between the artwork of human artists and AI. From the comparative analysis of visual perceptual differences found through eye-tracking, more visual attention was found to be demanded for catching details of more stimulating visuals compared to less stimulating visuals. In the gender difference analysis, both of the female and male subjects were likely to stare more intently at the flowers of still-life paintings (Deep Dream & Vincent Van Gogh) while the eyes of a portrait painting (Rembrandt & The Next Rembrandt); this demonstrates no significant differences in gender. Various opinions on AI and art creation from different perspectives arose, therefore, this research is meaningful in a way that it suggests an objective examination through experiments with an artistic perspective.
