"이해만 됐다면 수학은..." -어느 초등 교사의 이해 중심의 수학지도- ("Once Mathematics is Understood, Then..." -An Elementary Teacher′s Teaching of Mathematics with Understanding-)

  • The purpose of this study through ethnographic inquiry is to describe how an elementary teacher teaches mathematics with understanding. The ways that teachers'beliefs affect instructional activities, what means understanding from the view of cognitive psychology, and ethnographic research tradition were reviewed to anchor theoretical background of this study. A third-grade teacher and his 45 students were selected in order to capture vivid and thick descriptions of the teaching and learning activities of mathematics. Three major sources of data, that is, participant-observation with video taping, formal and informal interviews with the teacher and his students, and a variety of official documents were collected. These data were analyzed through two phases: data analysis in the field and after the fieldwork. According to data analysis, ‘teaching mathematics with understanding’ was identified as the teachers central belief of teaching mathematics. In order to implement his belief in teaching practices, the teacher made use of three strategies: ⑴ valuing individual student's own way of understanding, ⑵ bring students' everyday experiences into mathematics classroom, and ⑶ lesson objectivies stated by students. It is suggested for future research that concrete and specific norms of mathematics classroom for the improvement of mathematics understanding are needed to be identified and that experienced and skillful teachers' practical knowledge should be incorporated with theories of teaching mathematics and necessarily paid more attention by mathematics educators.

디지털 미디어 콘텐츠 방송 시스템 구현 (Implementation of the Broadcasting System for Digital Media Contents)

  • Most of digital media contents are composed with video and audio, picture and animation informations. Sometime, there is some deviation of information recognition quality for the video and audio information according to information receiver's characteristics or the understanding. But visual information using the text provide most clear and accurate ways for information recognition to human being. In this paper, we propose a new broadcasting system(BSDMC) to transmit clear and accurate meaning of the digital media contents. We implement general-purpose components to display the video, picture, text and symbol simultaneously. Only plug-in and call these components with proper parameters on the application developing tool, we can easily develop the multimedia contents broadcasting system. These components are implemented based on the object-oriented framework and modular structure so that increase the reusability and can be develop other applications quick and reliable.

  • This study compared the effectiveness of various prevention methods(1-time video viewing; repeated video viewing; participation-enriched video viewing) used in delivering awareness of sexual abuse and coping skills to preschool children. All of the experimental groups performed better than the control group. The participation-enriched viewing group displayed higher levels of coping skills than the control and the 1-time viewing groups. Repeated viewing and participation-enriched viewing approaches were most effective in long-term understanding. The repeated viewing group showed superiority in long-term coping skills. Direct participation, interaction, and reinforcement by means of repetition are important for optimal results in sexual abuse prevention education.

The moderating role of motivations in problematic use of online gaming: A study of live streaming viewers of Twitch

  • While the Internet continues to integrate with modern lives, the risks of negative outcomes resulting from problematic use (PU) are also increasing. Although psychological well-being and use motivations have been shown to play major roles in Internet PU, understanding the moderating mechanism is critical for advanced knowledge. The present study employed survey data from users of a live video-game streaming service (LVGS) that is an area rarely been studied. Result concluded a positive moderating effect of escapism motive (EM) on the association between loneliness and the PU of LVGS, while the moderating mechanism between EM and stress was not indicated. A moderating effect of information seeking (IS) on the relationship between stress and the PU of LVGS was found negative, but no mechanism between IS and loneliness was indicated. This study highlights how the interplay of different motivation and pathologies may induce or prevent video-game-related addiction.

스마트폰 동영상 교육 프로그램이 일개 대학병원에서의 재활병동 입원환자 교육 만족도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Smartphone Video Educational Program on Educational Satisfaction of Patients in Rehabilitation Units at a University Hospital)

  • Purpose: This study was to determine the effect of a smartphone video educational program on educational satisfaction of patients in rehabilitation units at a university hospital. Methods: The subjects of this study were 60 stroke patients recruited and divided into two groups; experimental group (n=30) and control group (n=30). Subjects in the experimental group and control group conducted conventional physical and occupational therapy. In addition, only the experimental group provided smartphone video information for a total of 15 sessions. The video consisted of five episodes (10 minutes each) viewed a total of 15 times (for each video three times). The outcome was assessed by educational satisfaction. Result: After inervention, both groups revealed significant increased awareness of prevention of infection educational satisfaction and prevention from falling educational satisfaction and exercise program educational satisfaction. However, the experimental group was more effective than the control group relative to heightened awareness of increasing prevention of infection prevention from falling and exercise program. Conclusion: We suggest that a smartphone video educational program may be effective in improving awareness of the prevention of infection, prevention from falling, and exercise program educational satisfaction. Therefore, video-based information is beneficial for such patients. Further studies are needed for better understanding of the effectiveness of a smartphone video educational program in rehabilitation units at a university hospital.

Preconsent Video-Assisted Instruction Improves the Comprehension and Satisfaction in Elderly Patient Visiting Pain Clinic

  • Background: Elderly patients visiting pain clinic may be at greater risk of misunderstanding the explanation because of age-related cognitive decline. Video instruction may provide a consistent from of teaching in a visual and realistic manner. We evaluated the effect of educational video on the patient understanding and satisfaction in a group of geriatric patients visiting pain clinic. Methods: Ninety two patients aged more than 60 years old who were scheduled for transforaminal epidural block were recruited. After exposure to either video or paper instruction process, each patient was asked 5-item comprehension questions, overall satisfaction and preference question. During follow-up period, number of outpatient referral-line call for further explanation was counted. Results: We observed significantly better comprehension in the video education compared with paper instruction (P < 0.001). Patient satisfaction was also higher in the video group (P = 0.015), and patients visiting pain clinic were more preferred video instruction (P < 0.001). Proportion of referral-line call for further explanation were similar (P = 0.302). Conclusions: Video approach to instruction process before consent improves treatment comprehension in geriatric patient visiting pain clinic.

초임 중등 과학 교사의 교수활동에 대한 지향과 실행: 동기 유발과 학생 이해를 중심으로 (Orientations and Execution of Beginning Secondary Science Teachers' Teaching Practices: Motivating and Understanding Students)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 초임 중등 과학 교사들이 과학 수업에서 학생들의 동기 유발과 학생 이해에 대해서 어떠한 지향을 하고 있으며, 그것이 실제 수업에서 어떻게 실행되고 있는지를 분석하는 것이다. 연구 참여자는 수도권 중 고등학교에서 근무하는 경력 1년 미만의 과학 교사 6명이다. 자료 수집은 수업 관찰 및 녹화, 구조화된 심층 면담과 우선순위 면담, 수업 자료를 통해 이루어졌다. 모든 수업과 면담 자료를 전사한 후, 분석틀에 맞추어 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 초임 과학 교사들은 동기 유발과 학생 이해에 관해 '관리 중심 과학 수업'에서부터 '전통적 과학 수업'까지 지향하고 있었으며, '구성주의적 과학 수업'은 지향하지 못하였다. 지향하는 바를 실행하는데 있어서 한명의 교사는 전문 단계의 실행 수준을 보여주었지만, 나머지 교사들은 초보 단계의 실행을 나타냈다. 본 연구를 통해 과학 교사들에게 동기 유발과 학생 이해에 관한 구성주의적 과학 수업의 방향을 제시해 줄 수 있을 것이다.

WSOLA를 이용한 동영상 미세배속 재생 서비스에 대한 콘텐츠별 배속 선호도 분석 연구 (A Study about the Users's Preferred Playing Speeds on Categorized Video Content using WSOLA method)

  • 빠르게 발전하는 IT환경 속에서 이제 동영상 콘텐츠는 TV를 통한 일방 시청이 아니라 언제 어디서든 다양한 단말에서 볼 수 있는 VOD (Video on Demand) 형태로 발전하고 있다. 이러한 동영상 시청형태의 변화는 디지털이란 특성 때문에 동영상의 재생 속도 또한 다양하게 조절할 수 있다는 부가적인 장점을 사용자에게 제공 한다. 지루하고 따분한 동영상 콘텐츠는 빠르게 돌려보고 흥미 있는 장면은 느리게 천천히 볼 수 있는 동영상 미세배속 재생 기능은 오늘날 다양한 동영상 플레이어에서 제공되고 있다. 동영상 미세배속 재생 시 동영상 콘텐츠 내용의 정확한 이해를 위해서는 시각정보 못지않게 음성정보 청취가 중요한데 정상속도 보다 빠르거나 느린 재생 시 발생하는 음성의 왜곡을 줄이기 위한 음성미세배속 기술들이 음성처리 분야에서 꾸준히 발전되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 이중 WSOLA와 같은 우수한 음성미세배속 알고리즘에 대해 알아보고 동영상 시청 시 이러한 기능 제공이 실제 얼마나 사용자 니즈(needs)에 부합하는 지 분석해보고자 한다. 특히, 동영상 콘텐츠를 사용자의 콘텐츠 소비 목적에 따라 종류별로 구분하여 재생 배속의 선호도를 조사하고 그 결과를 분석해 봄으로써 동영상 미세배속 기능 제공시 콘텐츠별 소비 목적에 맞게 재생 배속을 제공하는 것이 필요하다는 것을 제안하고자 한다.

지역 컨텍스트 및 전역 컨텍스트 정보를 이용한 비디오 장면 경계 검출 (Detection of Video Scene Boundaries based on the Local and Global Context Information)

  • 장면 경계 검출은 비디오 데이타에서 의미적인 구조를 이해하는데 있어서 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 하지만, 장면 경계 검출은 의미적인 일관성을 갖는 장면을 추출하여야 하므로 셧 경계 검출에 비해 매우 까다로운 작업이다. 본 논문에서는 비디오 데이타에 존재하는 의미적인 정보를 사용하기 위해 비디오 셧의 지역 및 전역 컨텍스트 정보를 추출하여 이를 바탕으로 장면 경계를 검출하는 방식을 제안한다. 비디오 셧의 지역 컨텍스트 정보는 셧 자체에 존재하는 컨텍스트 정보로서 전경 객체(foreground object), 배경(background) 및 움직임 정보들로 정의한다. 전역 컨텍스트 정보는 주어진 비디오 셧이 주위에 존재하는 다른 비디오 셧들과의 관계로부터 발생하는 다양한 컨텍스트로서 셧들간의 유사성, 상호 작용 및 셧들의 지속 시간 패턴으로 정의한다. 이런 컨텍스트 정보를 바탕으로 연결 작업, 연결 검증 작업 및 조정 작업등의 3단계 과정을 거쳐 장면을 검출한다. 제안된 방식을 TV 드라마 및 영화에 적용하여 80% 이상의 검출 정확도를 얻었다.

영상매체에 나타난 도시생태환경 콘텐츠 분석 및 환경교육 활용 가능성에 관한 연구 (A study on the environmental education based on the analysis of urban ecological environment contents appeared in video media)

  • National efforts responding to climate change is directly connected to competitiveness of the urban environment. Practice in the daily life of the individual citizens is prerequisite for the paradigm shift that can be made by the reduction of the city's energy consumption and low-carbon green growth. Therefore, the comprehensive understanding combined with the educational programs is required on the issue of the ecological environment and the urban environment competitiveness. In this paper, the meaning and role of urban ecological environment will be researched first. it also takes a look at the content of curriculum and analyses domestic policies related to environmental education of primary and middle schools. In addition, video documentary on urban ecological environment will be analyzed for the development of educational media dealing with environmental training in schools. Consequently, urban ecological environment shown in video media content will be identified and the advantage of this possibility as a medium of education is to be proposed.
