  • The motion recognition system has been broadly studied in digital image and video processing fields. Recently, method using th depth image is used very useful. However, recognition accuracy of depth image based method will be loss caused by size and shape of object distorted for angle of the depth sensor. Therefore, distortion correction of depth sensor is positively necessary for distinguished performance of the recognition system. In this paper, we propose a pre-processing algorithm to improve the motion recognition system. Depth data from depth sensor converted to real world, performed the corrected angle, and then inverse converted to projective world. The proposed system make progress using the OpenCV and the window program, and we test a system using the Kinect in real time. In addition, designed using Verilog-HDL and verified through the Zynq-7000 FPGA Board of Xilinx.

  • OBJECTIVES : The objective of this study is to propose a capacity analysis methodology for riverside bike-exclusive roads. METHODS : Three steps were performed to develop a methodology to estimate bikeway capacity. First, we reviewed previous studies on the vehicle-road capacity analysis and proposed their applicability to bikeways. Second, two assumptions were made based on the traffic flow characteristics of bikeways: (1) the capacitated state in bikeways occur within a bicycle platoon, and (2) a bicycle platoon consists of more than three bicycles running in close proximity. In addition, it is assumed that the mean time headway of a bicycle platoon represents the characteristics of the platoon. The normality of the mean-time headway of a bicycle platoon calculated using the central limit theorem leads to the development of a method that estimates the riverside bikeway capacity using data collected from two different riverside bike-exclusive roads (Han-river and Anyangcheon). We used a location-fixed video camera to record videos of running bicycles and wrote a special-purpose software program to code the time-headway data from the videos. RESULTS : Time headways from 189 bicycle platoons were analyzed. The estimated mean-time headway of the capacitated bicycle flow is 1.01 s, from which the capacity of the bikeway is found to be 3578 vehicles/h. CONCLUSIONS : The proposed method that estimates bikeway capacity could be applicable to the analysis of short-range congested area rather than planning the number of lanes. In other words, it determines the sections that are temporarily highly congested and proposes appropriate strategies to mitigate the congestion.

  • This study is an attempt to analyze the physical load by the type of the nursing tasks at the neurosurgical ICU nurses through the quantitative analysis of the working postures by the type of the nursing tasks with the OWAS(Ovako Working Postures Analysis System). Data collection was conducted through the video recording of the 13 nurses working at the neurosurgical ICU. For the analysis of the work postures by the type of the nursing tasks, and were interviewed regarding the subjective degree of the difficulties with the work postures related to the tasks. Collected data was analyzed through the WinOWAS program. The results were as follows : AC3 or AC4 tasks among the 18 nursing tasks types are "occupied bed making and change of the patient gown", "back massage", "suction", "elimination management", "change of position", "adjustment of bed", "helping the patient to move","measurement of CVP"and "measurement of urine volume". It appears that these tasks are harmful to the musculoskeletal system and the improvement or change of the work is required. The results stated above indicate that improper working postures during the nursing tasks influence the musculoskeletal system. Therefore, making use of assistant devices for the improvement of the working environment at the nursing tasks, based on human technological diagnoses, is required regarding the duty types with massive work pressure known to be harmful to the musculoskeletal system among those performed by the nurses. And there is a need of the education about the employment and maintenance of the vocational back pain prevention.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the physical load by identifying harmfully working postures and to develop recommendations for improving the existing situation with nurses in ICU, thereby to provide the basis for development of work-related musculoskeletal preventive program. Method: Various types of tasks were recorded with a video camera to chart and analyze different postures by OWAS(Ovako Working Posture Analysing System). Collected data showed that poor postures were adopted, not only for lifting or repositoning a patient, but also for other tasks. Data Analysis: The performed activities were then divided into Nursing Intervention Classification. Altogether 128 postures were selected for analysis. Then they were classified into different OAC (OWAS Action Categories). From all the observation, unhealthy postures, for which corrective measures had to be considered immediately (i.e., 75% classified as OACII+III+IV) were found. Collected data were analyzed in terms of percentage, 2-tail Mann-Whitney U test. Result: Poor postures mainly occur during 'positioning the patient' and 'airway suctioning' in NIC. No difference was found (p=0.060) between the percentage of harmful posture adopted during the patient handling tasks and non-patient handling tasks. Conclusion: This study shows, that in the nursing profession with ICU not only occur during patient handling, but also during other activities. The OWAS method was useful in determining the physical load by locating potential activities due to harmfully working postures, providing a detailed description with analysis, and suggesting successful means to reduce postural load.

  • The prevalence of obesity in children has steadily risen during recent years in developed countries. Child obesity has become a major concern to health providers since it has grown to epidemic proportions over the past few decades. This study was conducted to investigate the biochemical status, dietary habits and life styles according to the obesity degree among obese children residing in the Gyungbuk area. The subjects were 148 elementary school students (boy 103, girl 45) and classified as mildly obese (n = 56), moderately obese (n = 61) and severely obese (n = 31) by the obesity index. The average body weight and height increased significantly according to the obesity degree (p < 0.05, p < 0.001). Serum cholesterol concentration came under the normal level in all groups. Serum AST activity increased according to the obesity degree but it was not significant. Serum ALT activity increased according to the obesity degree (p < 0.05). Dietary habit score was lower significantly according to the obesity degree (p < 0.01). Life style of the subjects was significantly different for the level of 'healthy state (p < 0.05)', 'body perception (p < 0.01)', 'watching TV and video (p < 0.05)', 'normal sleeping hour (p < 0.05)' and 'degree of stress (p < 0.05)' according to the obesity degree. A positive relationship between obesity index and blood pressure, ALT has been shown in the subjects. Obesity index and dietary habit scores were negatively associated. Therefore, these results suggest that a practical nutrition-exercise education program for the prevention of child obesity should be provided to elementary school children. • This paper compares the transport overhead of MMT (MPEG Media Transport) with that of MPEG-2 TS (Transport Stream). MPEG-2 TS is globally used in multiplexing compressed audio and video data in digital broadcast industry, including areas of DTV (Digital Television), IPTV (Internet Protocol Television), and DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting). It was the early 1990s when MPEG-2 TS standard was established. After more than two decades of years since its first establishment, many parts of MPEG-2 TS turned out to be inappropriate to today's broadcast and communication environment. Given the situations, in 2014 MPEG (ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 29/WG 11) standardized MMT as the next-generation multimedia transport standard hopefully that can replace MPEG-2 TS. In this paper, with assumptions of broadcast service scenarios we applied both MMT and MPEG-2 TS to each scenario and we calculated their transport overheads. We used a software program that counts the transport overhead, which was developed in our laboratory for this paper. And we conducted a comparative analysis based on the calculated result of transport overhead.

  • This study analyzed characteristics which emerged while 45 secondary school teachers observed a video clip about a statistics instruction. The aim of this study based on the analysis was to deduct implications in terms of the various means which would enhance teachers' knowledge in teaching statistics and assist in designing statistics education programs for teachers and professional development initiatives. To achieve this goal, this research firstly developed framework descriptors which provided this study with theoretical foundations to investigate what characteristics appeared in the teachers' observation. Secondly, this study probed the observation results from the teachers in the light of the framework. Therefore, some issues in the teacher education program for teaching statistics were thirdly identified in the categories of 'focus of instruction', 'role of the teacher and discourse' and 'data and technology' based on the analysis. This research inspires the elaboration of exactly what features effective statistics classes have through the framework descriptors and additionally the elucidation of essential matters relevant to statistics education on the basis of the issues.

  • This paper presents a digital video broadcasting - terrestrial (DVB-T) receiver system based on the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation method, which has exhibited a good reception performance even with obstacles and a mobile reception. As such, an improved OFDM receiver is developed for a DVB-T system that also considers function expansion for further development. After manufacturing the DVB-T receiver system, the performance of the proposed system is compared with three other hardware systems, all of which are end products. The experimental results confirm the performance using the measured minimum required carrier-to-noise ratio and threshold of visibility signal for each system. In addition, a graphic user interface (GUI) and electronic program guide (EPG) are developed for the digital television user.
