  • This paper describes the grenade counting system developed for DPICM submunition analysis using the infrared video streams, and its some video stream processing technique. The video stream data processing procedure consists of four sequences; Analog infrared video stream recording, video stream capture, video stream pre-processing, and video stream analysis including the grenade counting. Some applications of this algorithms to real bursting test has shown the possibility of automation for submunition counting.

아동의 전자게임 활동이 시각적 병행처리에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Playing Video Games on Children's Visual Parallel Processing)

  • This study examined the effects of short and long term playing of video gamer on children's visual parallel processing. All of the 64 fourth grade subjects were above average in IQ. They were classified into high and low video game users. Instruments were a visual parallel processing task consisting of imagery integration items, computers, and the arcade video game, Pac-Man. Subjects were pre-tested with a visual parallel processing task. After one week, the experimental group played video games for 15 minutes, but the control group didn't play. Immediately following this, all children were post-tested by the same task used on the pretest. The data was analyzed by ANCOVA and repeated measures ANOVA. The results showed that relaying short-term video games improved visual parallel processing and that long term experience with video games also affected visual parallel processing. there were no differences between high and low users in visual parallel processing after playing short term video games.

  • As multimedia application services on high-speed information network have been rapidly developed, the need for the video information management system that provides an efficient way for users to retrieve video data is growing. In this paper, we propose a video data model that integrates free annotations, image features, and spatial-temporal features for video purpose of improving content-based retrieval of video data. The proposed video data model can act as a generic video data model for multimedia applications, and support free annotations, image features, spatial-temporal features, and structure information of video data within the same framework. We also propose the video query language for efficiently providing query specification to access video clips in the video data. It can formalize various kinds of queries based on the video contents. Finally we design and implement the query processing engine for efficient video data retrieval on the proposed metadata model and the proposed video query language.

  • The data-flow paradigm has been employed in various application areas. It is particularly useful where large data-streams must be processed, for example in video and audio processing, or for scientific visualization. A video-based 3D reconstruction system should process multiple synchronized video streams. The system exhibits many properties that can be targeted using a data-flow approach that is naturally divided into a sequence of processing tasks. In this paper we introduce our concept to apply the data-flow approach to a multi-video 3D reconstruction system.

  • The application of video processing techniques are useful for the safety of nuclear power plants by tracking the people online on video to estimate the dose received by staff during work in nuclear plants. Nuclear reactors remotely visually controlled to evaluate the plant's condition using video processing techniques. Internal reactor components should be frequently inspected but in current scenario however involves human technicians, who review inspection videos and identify the costly, time-consuming and subjective cracks on metallic surfaces of underwater components. In case, if any frame of the inspection video degraded/corrupted/missed due to noise or any other factor, then it may cause serious safety issue. The problem of missing/degraded/corrupted video frame estimation is a challenging problem till date. In this paper a systematic literature review on video processing techniques is carried out, to perform their suitability analysis for NPP applications. The limitation of existing approaches are also identified along with a roadmap to overcome these limitations.

큐브맵 영상에 Wavefront 병렬 처리를 적용하는 방법 (Method for Applying Wavefront Parallel Processing on Cubemap Video)

  • 360 VR 영상은 등장방형 또는 정육면체, 정십이면체 등의 입체 도형의 전개도 형태의 포맷을 가진다. 이러한 포맷들은 각각 다른 특성을 가지고 있지만, 공통적으로 해상도가 일반 2D 영상에 비해 높다는 공통점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 부호화/복호화를 할 때 시간이 많이 걸리며, 병렬 처리가 필수적으로 요구된다. 최신 2D 비디오 코덱인 HEVC에는 병렬화 기술로 Wavefront Parallel Processing(WPP) 기술이 표준으로 적용되어 있는데, 이 기술은 2D 영상을 고려하여 만들어진 기술으로 3D 영상에서 사용했을 때 최적의 성능을 보이지 않는다. 따라서, WPP를 3D 영상에 적절한 방법이 필요하며 본 논문에서는 큐브맵 포맷에서 개선된 WPP 부호화/복호화 방법을 제안한다. 실험은 HEVC 참조 소프트웨어인 HM 12.0에 적용하였고, 실험 결과 기존 WPP와 비교하여 PSNR에는 큰 손실이 없으며 15%~20% 정도의 부호화 복잡도가 추가로 감소했다. 제안하는 방법은 향후 3D VR 영상을 위한 코덱에 필수적으로 포함될 것으로 기대된다.

  • 모듈통합형 항공전자시스템은 연방형의 LRU (line replaceable unit)의 기능을 하나의 LRM (line replaceable module)에서 제공하고, 하나의 cabinet에 여러 개의 LRM을 탑재한다. IMA core 시스템의 VPM (video processing module)은 LRM으로써 ARINC 818 ADVB (avionics digital video bus)의 bridge 및 gateway 역할을 한다. ARINC 818은 광 대역폭, 적은 지연시간, 비 압축 디지털영상 전송을 위해 개발된 규격이다. VPM의 FPGA IP core는 ARINC 818 to DVI 또는 DVI to ARINC 818 처리와 video decoder, overlay 기능을 가진다. 본 논문에서는 VPM 하드웨어 구현에 대해 다루고, VPM 기능과 IP core 성능 검증 결과를 보인다.

A New Objective Video Quality Metric for Stereoscopic Video

  • Although quality metrics for 2D video quality assessment have been proposed, the quality models on stereoscopic video have not been widely studied. In this paper, a new objective video quality metric for s tereoscopic video is proposed. The proposed algorithm consider three factors to evaluate stereoscopic video quality: blocking artifact, blurring artifact, and the difference between left and right view of stereoscopic vide o. The results show that the proposed algorithm has a higher correlation with DMOS than the others.

Video Watermarking Algorithm for H.264 Scalable Video Coding

  • Because H.264/SVC can meet the needs of different networks and user terminals, it has become more and more popular. In this paper, we focus on the spatial resolution scalability of H.264/SVC and propose a blind video watermarking algorithm for the copyright protection of H.264/SVC coded video. The watermark embedding occurs before the H.264/SVC encoding, and only the original enhancement layer sequence is watermarked. However, because the watermark is embedded into the average matrix of each macro block, it can be detected in both the enhancement layer and base layer after downsampling, video encoding, and video decoding. The proposed algorithm is examined using JSVM, and experiment results show that is robust to H.264/SVC coding and has little influence on video quality.
