In our research, we delved into the impact of video length assigned for pre-class assignments on students' level of engagement. What we discovered is that as the length of the video increases, student engagement tends to decrease and the time allocated for homework preparation does not significantly influence engagement, as many students tend to complete their assignments just before the due date. Interestingly, the well-known "6-minute rule" often advocated for online educational videos does not align with the dynamics of real university settings. Whether in traditional lecture-based classes or flipped learning environments, students exhibit a high degree of self-responsibility when it comes to video consumption. Our findings strongly suggest that, in the context of flipped learning, it is advisable to create videos that are shorter than 15 minutes in length.

In this paper, we propose a video encryption method using pseudo-random numbers based on MLCA(Maximal length Cellular Automata). Firstly, we generate a basis image which is composed with pseudo-random numbers, using MLCA. Futhermore, The original video is encrypted by computing XOR operation between the basis image and each frame of original video. The video encryption is conducted in accordance with one or two rules, and is evaluated.

Video content is divided into long-form video content and short-form video content according to the length. Long form video content is created with a length of 15 minutes or longer, and all frames of the captured video are included without editing. Short-form video content can be edited to a shorter length from 1 minute to 15 minutes, and only some frames from the frames of the captured video. Due to the recent growth of the single-person broadcasting market, the demand for short-form video content to increase viewers is increasing. Therefore, there is a need for research on content editing technology for editing and generating short-form video content. This study studies the technology to create short-form videos of main scenes by capturing images, voices, and motions. Short-form videos of key scenes use a pre-trained highlight extraction model through machine learning. An automatic video editing system and method for automatically generating a highlight video is a core technology of short-form video content. Machine learning-based automatic video editing method and system research will contribute to competitive content activities by reducing the effort and cost and time invested by single creators for video editing

In this paper, we propose a data model and a retrieval method for content-based video query After partitioning a video into frame sets of same length which is called video-window, each video-window can be mapped to a point in a multidimensional space. A video can be represented a trajectory by connection of neighboring video-window in a multidimensional space. The similarity between two video-windows is defined as the euclidean distance of two points in multidimensional space, and the similarity between two video segments of arbitrary length is obtained by comparing corresponding trajectory. A new retrieval method with filtering and refinement step if developed, which return correct results and makes retrieval speed increase by 4.7 times approximately in comparison to a method without filtering and refinement step.
The dissemination of smart devices has made a lot of changes in overall social activities. In particular, people use various types of smart devices in their spare time, such as watching video clips, but there is a lack of research on external factors influencing the attitude toward using such devices. Therefore, in this study, the effects of video viewing environmental factors (e.g. screen size and video length) and personal factors (e.g. gender and need for entertainment) on perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and attitude to use devices based on technology acceptance model. As a result of analyzing 660 users having different smart devices, the attitude to use smart devices is more positive as the screen size increases, but there is no difference according to gender. In addition, while the length of video clips does not affect the attitude to use, the need for entertainment positively affects the attitude to use. Based on the results of this study, we expect that it can be used for optimized customer marketing and management strategy that integrates product development and video content production in consideration of factors such as video viewing environmental factors and personal factors.
Variable length coding (VLC) has been used in many well known standard video coding algorithms such as MPEG and H.26x. However, VLC can not be processed parallelly because of its sequentiality. This sequentiality is a big barrier for implementing a real-time software video codec since parallel schemes can not be applied. In this paper, we propose a new fast VLD (Variable Length Decoding) method based on the probabilistic distribution of symbols in VLC tables used in MPEG as well as H.263 standard codecs. Even though MPEG suggests the table partitioning method, they do not show theoretically why the number of partitioned tables is two or three. We suggest the method for deciding the number of partitioned tables. Applying our scheme to several well-known MPEG-2 test sequences, we can reduce the computational time up to about 10% without any sacrificing video quality
In this paper, we propose video quality control system(VQCS) which can control video service quality through the monitoring of end-to-end available bandwidth for video streaming service like IPTV in NGN convergence network. Various multimedia services such as video, voice and gaming service can be provided by IPTV, and these services require large amounts of bandwidth. At this time, video quality degradation like video jerkiness, block distortion and blurring is caused when network available bandwidth is insufficient. Available bandwidth monitoring method is need to stably control video streaming quality. So, we periodically calculate the amount of the packets in link and measure available bandwidth by using total length field in IP header at terminal. Scalability extractor in network selects suitable video streaming data rate based on available bandwidth and transports video streaming with adaptive data rate to prevent video quality deterioration.

With the advancement of internet technology, the importance of data protection is gaining more attention. As a possible data protection solution, we propose a novel video encryption method using complemented maximum-length cellular automata (C-MLCA). The first step for encryption is to use 90/150 CA rule to generate a transition matrix T of a C-MLCA state followed by a 2D C-MLCA basis image. Then, we divide the video into multiple frames. Once, we perform exclusive-OR operation with the split frames and the 2D basis image, the final encrypted video can be obtained. By altering values of pixel, the fundamental information in visualizing image data, the proposed method provides improved security. Moreover, we carry out some computational experiments to further evaluate our method where the results confirm its feasibility.

Digital video compression technique has played an important role that enables efficient transmission and storage of multimedia data where bandwidth and storage space are limited. The new video coding standard, H.264/AVC, developed by Joint Video Team(JVT) significantly outperforms previous standards in compression performance. Especially, variable length code(VLC) plays a crucial pun in video and image compression applications. H.264/AVC standard adopted Context-based Adaptive Variable Length Coding(CAVLC) as the entropy coding method. CAVLC of H.264/AVC requires a large number of the memory accesses. This is a serious problem for applications such as DMB and video phone service because of the considerable amount of power that is consumed in accessing the memory. In order to overcome this problem in this paper, we propose a variable length technique that implements memory-free coeff_token, level, and run_before decoding based on arithmetic operations and using only 70% of the required memory at total_zero variable length decoding.
In this paper, we propose a new scheduling method that can guarantee reliable jitter by minimizing the queue length variation in the streaming service provisioning such as IPTV and VoD. The amount of traffic to be delivered within a certain time is very fluid because MPEG-4 and H.264 encoders use VBR(Variable Bit Rate) for delivering video streaming traffic. This VBR characteristic increases the end-to-end propagation delay variation when existing scheduling methods are used for delivering video frames. Therefore, we propose the new scheduling method that can minimize change rate of queue length by adaptively controling service rate taking into account the size of bulk incoming packets and arrival rate for bulk streaming traffic. Video frames can be more reliably transmitted through the minimization of the queue length variation using the proposed method. We use the queueing model and also carry out OPNET simulation to validate the proposed method.
