  • This paper presents the infectious watermarking model (IWM) for the protection of video contents that are based on biological virus modeling by the infectious route and procedure. Our infectious watermarking is designed as a new paradigm protection for video contents, regarding the hidden watermark for video protection as an infectious virus, video content as host, and codec as contagion medium. We used pathogen, mutant, and contagion as the infectious watermark and defined the techniques of infectious watermark generation and authentication, kernel-based infectious watermarking, and content-based infectious watermarking. We experimented with our watermarking model by using existing watermarking methods as kernel-based infectious watermarking and content-based infectious watermarking medium, and verified the practical applications of our model based on these experiments.

  • In recent years, HTTP adaptive streaming (HAS) has attracted considerable attention as the state-of-the-art technology for video transport. HAS dynamically adjusts the quality of video streaming according to the network bandwidth and device capability of users. Content-Centric Networking (CCN) has also emerged as a future Internet architecture, which is a novel communication paradigm that integrates content delivery as a native network primitive. These trends have led to the new research issue of harmonizing HAS with the in-network caching provided by CCN routers. Previous research has shown that the performance of HAS can be improved by using the H.264/SVC(scalable video codec) in the in-network caching environments. However, the previous study did not address the misbehavior that causes video freeze when overestimating the available network bandwidth, which is attributable to the high cache hit rate. Thus, we propose a new SVC-based adaptation algorithm that utilizes a drop timer. Our approach aims to stop the downloading of additional enhancement layers that are not cached in the local CCN routers in a timely manner, thereby preventing excessive consumption of the video buffer. We implemented our algorithm in the SVC-HAS client and deployed a testbed that could run Smooth-Streaming, which is one of the most popular HAS solutions, over CCNx, which is the reference implementation of CCN. Our experimental results showed that the proposed scheme (SLA) could avoid video freeze in an effective manner, but without reducing the high hit rate on the CCN routers or affecting the high video quality on the SVC-HAS client.

  • With the rapid development of domestic and international over-the-top markets, a large amount of video content is being created. As the volume of video content increases, consumers tend to increasingly check data concerning the videos before watching them. To address this demand, video summaries in the form of plot descriptions, thumbnails, posters, and other formats are provided to consumers. This study proposes an approach that automatically generates posters to effectively convey video content while reducing the cost of video summarization. In the automatic generation of posters, face recognition and clustering are used to gather and classify character data, and keyframes from the video are extracted to learn the overall atmosphere of the video. This study used the facial data of the characters and keyframes as training data and employed technologies such as DreamBooth, a text-to-image generation model, to automatically generate video posters. This process significantly reduces the time and cost of video-poster production.

  • With the continued popularity of mobile devices such as smart-phones and tables, the development of the various kinds of digital contents making tools has not increased only the productivity of the digital contents, but also the demand of them rapidly. Geo-contents which means the digital contents related to location(geographic) information has enabled the user custom services. Especially, there are already some commercial location-based services that provide the user to POI (Points of Interest) with the geo-image contents such as photos tagged by the location. In the geo-video contents, there could be several related locations in the whole video, but only one representative location is used to tag a location to the video. In this paper, we have define the geo-video as a video content which has as many locations as the number of frames composing the video. We have also proposed the geo-video making tools and a viewer to create and utilize the geo-video contents. The geo-video contents proposed in this paper, are widely used in location based video contents searching services.

  • This study introduces artificial intelligence (AI) techniques for video generation. For an effective illustration, techniques for video generation are classified as either semi-automatic or automatic. First, we discuss some recent achievements in semi-automatic video generation, and explain which types of AI techniques can be applied to produce films and improve film quality. Additionally, we provide an example of video content that has been generated by using AI techniques. Then, two automatic video-generation techniques are introduced with technical details. As there is currently no feasible automatic video-generation technique that can generate commercial videos, in this study, we explain their technical details, and suggest the future direction for researchers. Finally, we discuss several considerations for more practical automatic video-generation techniques.

  • In a fast-paced information technology environment, consumption of video content is changing from one-way television viewing to VOD (Video on Demand) playing anywhere, anytime, on any device. This video-watching trend gives additional importance to videos with fine-speed-control, in addition to the strength of the digital video signal. Currently, many video players provide a fine-speed-control function which can speed up the video to skip a boring part, or slow it down to focus on an exciting scene. The audio information is just as important as the visual information for understanding the content of the speed-controlled video. Thus, a number of algorithms for fine-speed-control video-playing technologies have been proposed to solve the pitch distortion in the audio-processing area. In this study, well-known techniques for prosodic modification of speech signals, WSOLA (Waveform-Similarity-Based Overlap-Add), have been applied to analyze users' needs for fine-speed-control video playing. By surveying the users' preferred speeds on categorized video content and analyzing the results, this paper proposes that various fine-speed adjustments are needed to accommodate users' preferred video consumption.

  • With the rapid dissemination of Internet and the fast development of IT technology. utilization and circulation of video files through Internet has been widely popularized. To keep playing a central role in information circulation in this ever-changing environment, libraries should pay attention to the circulation of video content, as it emerges to be an important type information resource. In this context, this paper examines the issues surrounding the development of the video content circulation system, while suggesting foundational knowledge required for the development of the system. First, the author reviews the current state of video content utilization and circulation on the internet and examines the related technical developments. Then, the author explains each component of the video content circulation system, while discussing the issues to be considered in the practical implementation of the system. The paper will provide practical guidelines for the librarians in their investigation and/or implementation of the video content circulation service and system.

  • Since the world's first 3D commercial film with red-blue glasses was introduced in 1922, remarkable progress has been made in the field of 3D video. 3D video content gained enormous popularity with the movie "Avatar," which greatly increased the sale of 3D TVs. This momentum has weakened owing to lack of 3D content. However, the recent trend of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) made 360 VR video and 3D games using a head mounted display wide spread. All these experiences mentioned above require wearing glasses to enjoy 3D content. Super multi-view content technology, on the other hand, enables viewers to enjoy 3D content without glasses on a super multi-view display. In this article, we introduce the technologies used to make super multi-view content, interact with it, and author content, which are developed by ETRI.

  • Generally, either caption-based search method or content-based search methods is used to retrieve video information. However, each search method has its limitations. Caption-based search is apt to lose consistency as for user's subjects, and content-based search is hard to extract general means. To enhance efficiency and correctness as for complementing each other, we propose the Integrated Video Data Model(IVDM) which integrates the two search methods, to device the model, we analyze video data and construct the structure of video information hierarchically. IVDM supports caption-based search as assigning meta-data by analyzing thematic-unit in the higher level, and also supports content-based search as extracting feature data by analyzing the content of video data in the lower level. We design Object-Oriented database schema of news video, based-on the IVDM. And we provide 4-type of queries and query processing algorithm to retrieve news video information.

  • The development and distribution rate of smartphones have progressed so rapidly that it is safe for the entire nation to use them in the smart age, and the use of smartphones has become an essential medium for the use of domestic media content, and many people are using various contents regardless of gender, age, or region. Recently, various media outlets have been consuming video content for online learning, indicating that learners utilize video content online for learning. In the previous research, satisfaction studies were conducted according to the type of content, and the improvement plan was necessary because no research was conducted on how to evaluate the learning content itself and provide it to learners. In this paper, we would like to propose a system through evaluation and review of learning content itself as a way to improve the way of providing video content for learning and quality learning content.
