  • This paper describes TVML (TV program Making Language) for automatically generating television programs from text-based script. This language describes the contents of a television program using expression with a high level of abstraction like“title #1”and“zoom-in”. The software used to read a script written in TVML and to automatically generate the program video and audio is called the TVML Player. The paper begins by describing TVML language specifications and the TVML Player. It then describes the“external control mode”of the TVML Player that can be used for applying TVML to interactive applications. Finally, it describes the TVML Editor, a user interface that we developed which enables users having no specialized knowledge of computer languages to make TVML scripts. In addition to its role as a television-program production tool. TVML is expected to have a wide range of applications in the network and multimedia fields.

Analysis of User Transfer of Successful Battle Royale Games - From Player Unknown's Battleground to Fortnite (성공적인 배틀 로얄 게임에서의 사용자 이동 원인 분석 - 배틀그라운드에서 포트나이트로)

  • A battle royale game is a multiplayer video game genre that blends the survival and exploration with last-man-standing gameplay. The genre has been hot in recent years and the 'Player Unknown's Battleground' produced by Korean enterprise PUBG had been the hottest during 2017 and the first half of 2018. However, a similar battle royale game 'Fortnite' became the game of the year in 2018 and the Player Unknown's Battleground sustains the predominance only in Korea and China. In this paper, we investigate the game structure of those two games on combat, survival, farming and charging elements, We also conduct a user survey on what might be the weak point of the Player Unknown's Battleground and why they choose Fornite among users played both but currently play Fortnite. The result shows that the Player Unknown's Battleground sustains the advantage on battle elements but creative charging policy and the efficient survival elements are the reasons of choosing Fortnite between the two.

A Development of DMB-AF Player Supporting 3D Video Contents (3D 비디오 콘텐트를 지원하는 DMB-AF 플레이어 개발)

  • Recently an extension to DMB-AF (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting Application Format) standard was proposed in [1] without sufficient validation for industrial application due to incomplete implementation. The extended DMB-AF can include stereoscopic video and stereoscopic images for interactive service data, i.e., MPEG-4 BIFS data, in addition to the existing 2D video and 2D images for BIFS services. The contents in the extended DMB-AF can provide a temporal mixture of 2D/3D video presentations possibly with or without 2D/3D images for BIFS services. In this paper we developed DMB-AF player software that can play the extended DMB-AF files and authored several test files for its verification. As a result, we introduced a new method for indicating dependencies of 3D media tracks to improve the extension in [1] and validated the extended DMB-AF with the improvement.

Classification and Meaning of Interaction Movie to Communicate Stories on Directing a Game -Toward of Video Game 'Uncharted 2'- (스토리 전달을 위한 게임연출에서 인터랙션 무비의 분류와 의미 -비디오게임'언차티드2'를 중심으로-)

  • This study is to reveal the meaning of the interaction between a player and a game with the approach of an operational interaction such as joystick and keyboard, and also a representational interaction that the player takes during the game. It has been usually recognized that cut-scene in existing games is just limited to the role of opening scene that delivers mainly a background story of the game, and has the only passive function that serves additionally the expression of the state of the player or the replay of the results of the player's action. But in the aspect of game-direction, the study of the player's action about the interaction movie of 'Uncharted2', for example, one of the most representative video games, shows the possible classification of interaction movie along with three functions(situation direction, induced selective-action, information transfer). As a result, it is judged that interaction movie is not an additional element for the game-play, but rather takes the function of as an interface. The effective application of interaction movie could help a smooth connection between the recognizability from the view point of the player and the playing from the main character's viewpoint, ultimately leading to a direct means to maximize the delivery of the story.

  • In the N-Screen environment, HTML5 standard-based content development is inevitable. However, it is still passive the development of HTML5 manipulation type contents due to high development cost and insufficient infrastructure. Therefor we propose an efficient contents development model by convergence multimedia contents (such as video and audio) with HTML5 documents that can implement dynamic manipulation for user interaction. The proposed model is designed to divide the multimedia and iframe areas in the HTML5 layout page included the player for integrated contents control.   • With widespread use of the Internet and improvements in streaming media and compression technology, digital music, video, and image can be distributed instantaneously across the Internet to end-users. However, most conventional Digital Right Management are often not secure and fast enough to process the vast amount of data generated by the multimedia applications to meet the real-time constraints. In this paper, we propose the copyright protection using encryption of DCT coefficients and motion vector in MPEG-4 video codec of mobile device. This paper presents a new Digital Rights Management that modifies the Motion Vector of Macroblock for mobile device. Experimental results indicate that the proposed DRM can not only achieve very low cost of the encryption but also enable separable authentication to individual mobile devices such as Portable Multimedia Player and Personal Digital Assistants. The performance of the proposed methods have low complexity and low increase of bit rate in overhead.

A study on Amusement Fear of Video Game and Player's Response (비디오게임의 유희적공포에 대한 플레이어의 반응연구)

  • In this study, by both qualitative and quantitative measurement on the purpose of deriving the sensitive amusement factor. I consider the fear of horror games as "the amused fear" and analyze it, which is based on the play theory by Roger Caillois. On the basis of this, I classified the amusement fear in horror games into the 4 factors. I conducted some positive tests through the player's response in order to verify them. The test is conducted measuring the heart rate of each experimenter by cardiometer while they are playing horror games. By analyzing the video data, I gave a name to the point that the amusement fear factors are expected to influence psychologically and physiologically as the fear point. At this point, I examined if the measured heart rate makes the outstanding difference or not, when compared average heart rate with experimenter's heart rate. In addition, I also examined if there is a statistical correlation of heart rate by attaching player's subjective data through the questionnaire. Consequently, it was statistically turned out that the experimenter's heart rate which is measured rose dramatically than usual, and that there are close correlations among subjective data. I also found out that the amusement fear factor at the relevant point plays a major role in experimenter's psychological and physiological response. In this study, I could prove the horror factor as a meaning of amusement factor using both theoretical method and positive method establishing a standard set that is helpful for further production and planning of the game.

  • With the continued popularity of mobile devices such as smart-phones and tables, the development of the various kinds of digital contents making tools has not increased only the productivity of the digital contents, but also the demand of them rapidly. Geo-contents which means the digital contents related to location(geographic) information has enabled the user custom services. Especially, there are already some commercial location-based services that provide the user to POI (Points of Interest) with the geo-image contents such as photos tagged by the location. In the geo-video contents, there could be several related locations in the whole video, but only one representative location is used to tag a location to the video. In this paper, we have define the geo-video as a video content which has as many locations as the number of frames composing the video. We have also proposed the geo-video making tools and a viewer to create and utilize the geo-video contents. The geo-video contents proposed in this paper, are widely used in location based video contents searching services.

  • Free-viewpoint video service is a technology that allows users to watch at any angle, location and distance through interaction. In this paper, the free-viewpoint video services are defined in four viewing modes: Inward view, outward view, 3D object view and first person view. And we developed and implemented a new integrated program that plays all the suggested views. In the contents of girl band performances and basketball games, multi-view cameras suitable for each viewing mode are installed to acquire media, and data stored on the server is streamed over the network, making it available for viewing. Users can freely choose four viewing modes, space location, angle and so on, and the media data such as images and sounds are provided to them by rendering appropriately for the selected the viewpoint. Our system is expected to be a scalable free-viewpoint video service player as well as provide users with immersion and presence by combining various viewing modes.

The Kinematic Analysis of Gliding Type and Delivery Phase in Each Trails during Shot-Putting - Focusing on Lee, Hyung-Keun, Player in Men's High School Youth Group - (고등부 남자 포환던지기 선수의 시기 별 글라이드 유형과 딜리버리 국면의 운동학적 분석 - 고등부 이형근 선수를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide information about kinematic variables of the gliding and delivery motion of Hyung-Keun Lee, a high school shot putter who was ranked 1st at the 2011 National Sports Festivals. Three-Dimensional motion analysis using a system of 4 video cameras at a sampling frequency of 60 Hz was conducted during shot-putting events at the 2011 National Sports Festivals. During the gliding and delivery phase of the player the results showed following characteristics; 1) The gliding technique types of the player appeared to be the short-long technique as the gliding and stance length ratio were $42.3{\pm}3.87$ % and $57.7{\pm}3.87$ %, respectively. In addition, the trajectory of shots during the gliding and delivery phase showed different trajectory patterns with "S-shaped" type of elite players due to the deviation from a central axis of the APSS (athletic-plus shot system). 2) The horizontal velocity of COG made from gliding should maintain the velocity during transition and release phase, but the player showed a small momentum for a gradual decrease of velocity. 3) Therefore, the player requires to adjust an appropriate ratio between gliding and stance length with a strong muscle power at the trunk, throwing arm, and the lower extremity during gliding and delivery phase.
