A series of process to design an acoustic lens for underwater imaging is reviewed and the method to evaluate characteristics of the lens is investigated. If the target specification of lens is given, the design process consists of the material selection, evaluation of its properties, lens geometry design, prediction of lens characteristics, manufacturing, and evaluation by measurement. In this study, an actual acoustical lens is made by cutting polymethylpentene block. The characteristics of lens are predicted by the hybrid method, combination of ray tracing and Rayleigh integral. For the direct comparison between the prediction and measurement results, a simulation method based on the equivalent source method is suggested to reflect the actual radiation pattern of transducer used for measurements. Finally, the measurement is conducted in a small water tank to observe the actual characteristics of the manufactured lens.
The waveform at the blasting pattern using k13 delay electronic detonator depends on the interference of adjacent delay time according to the degree of distance and frequency. The degree of interference affects the size of blasting vibration at a measuring point. This study analyzed the cooperating change characteristics of MS delay blasting separately detonated at intervals of 40m and presented through frequency the delay time design method that is able to reduce the cooperation of blasting vibration at the MS delay blasting.

The aeroacoustic phenomena in the simple rectangular open cavity are well published by many researchers. But the geometry shapes of aircraft landing gear wells, weapon bays, etc. are more complicate than that of the simple retangular cavity. They are more similar to the cavity having cover-plates at adges, or Helmholtz resonator. Therefore, the effects of cover-plates existing on edges of rectangular open cavity are numerically investigated in this paper. The compressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved for two-dimensional cavities with laminar boundary layers upstream. The high-order and high-resolution numerical schemes are used for the evaluation of spatial derivatives and the time integration. Physically correct numerical boundary conditions and buffer zone techniques are implemented to produce time-accurate solutions in the whole computation domain. The computational domain is large enough to directly resolve a portion of the radiated acoustic field. Results show that the cover-plates existing on edges of cavity reduce the noise convected from cavity, make the frequency of noise become higher, and change the directivity pattern. So these results can be used in the design of a low noise cavity.
In this paper, we designed and implemented a precise pulse motor control chip that generates the parabolic speed pattern. This chip can control step motor[1], DC servo[2] and AC servo motors at high speed and precisely. It can reduce the mechanical vibration to the minimum at the change point of a degree of acceleration. Because the parabolic speed pattern has the continuous acceleration change. In this paper, we present the pulse generation algorithm and the parabolic pattern speed generation. We verify these algorithm using visual C++. We designed this chip with VHDL(Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language) and executed a logic simulation and synthesis using Synopsys synthesis tool. We executed the pre-layout simulation and post-layout simulation with Verilog-XL simulation tool. This chip was produced with 100 pins, PQFP package by 0.35 um CMOS process and implemented by completely digital logic. We developed the hardware test board and test program using visual C++. We verify the performance of this chip by driving the servo motor and the function by GUI(Graphic User Interface) environment.

The objective of this work is to develop a new design method to find optimal coils, especially the optimal coil configuration of an optical pickup actuator. In designing actuator coils, the developed Lorenz force in the coils along the desired direction should be made as large as possible while forces and torques in other directions should be made as small as possible. The design methodology we are developing is a systematic approach that can generate optimal coil configurations for given permanent magnet configurations. To consider the best coil configuration among all feasible coil configurations, we formulate the design problem as a topology optimization of a coil. The present formulation for coil design is noble in the sense that the existing topology optimization is mainly concerned with the design of yokes and permanent magnets and that the optimization of actuator coils is so far limited within shape or size optimization. Though the present design methodology applies to any problem, the specific design example considered is the design of fine-pattern tracking and focusing coils.

Purpose: PBA buried in underwater requires high reliability because of its mission critical characteristic and harsh operational environment during its life cycle. Therefore, various reliability improvement activities are necessary. The defect on PBA manufacturing process have been studied, as a result, many activities and standards have been presented. However, there are less studies regarding failure pattern on physical features based on design. In this paper, we studied a possible failure patten based on physical features that is related with manufacturing process of PBA. And reliability improvement design based on PoF (Physical of Failure) were intruduced in this paper. Methods: A reliability prediction simulation were performed on the components A and B of the H system using Sherlock Software which is a PoF commercial tool from DFR solution. Solder fatigue and PTH fatigue analysis based on thermal cycling profiles and random vibration was analyzed on three earthquake response spectrum. Result: It was validated that life time and reliability improvement design through solder fatigue and PTH fatigue analysis in case of component. For compoenet B, random vibration fatigue was additionally analyzed and validated reliability for earthquakes profile. Conclusion: In design stage prior to manufacturing, PoF can be analyzed, and it is possible to make a reliability improvement/validated design using design data. This study can be applied in every design step and contribute to make more stable development product.

Laser projector has many advantages of high brightness, high resolution and small size, but the huge drawback of image degradation called speckle which generated by coherence of laser and roughness of surface interrupts their general use. There are many methods to reduce speckle pattern, but they need effective optical systems to realize display to the far field with huge volume. We designed speckle reduction element by using microlens with controlled curvature to reduce spatial coherence. Vibration element was also applied to reduce temporal coherence which considered response time of eye. Designed element was fabricated by simple reflow method and imprinting method. From the results, the fabricated element performed 48.33% of speckle reduction efficiency and 41.29% of optical efficiency with a single doublet lens.
This study developed smart vests with heat and massage functions that changed patterns, designs, materials, etc., and evaluated their functions and satisfaction. A knitted fabric with good elasticity and a heating lining were used, and in consideration of this, the final vest pattern fitted to the upper body was completed. A heat pad was attached to the back, and 6 vibration motors were attached to the trapezius muscle. The controller was placed on the left chest for easy operation, and the battery was stored in an inner pocket under the controller. The heating effect of the smart vest, the location of the devices, and the ease of operation were excellent. When the massage function was operated, the thermal comfort was increased compared to when the massage function was not operated, and the high thermal comfort was perceived by the operation of heat and heat+massage function. Due to the battery, the weight, irritating contact of devices and wearing sensation decreased, but there was no reduction in wearing sensation due to heat and vibration devices. The greater the satisfaction with the massage function, thermal comfort, fit, appearance and weight, the greater the product satisfaction.

Active noise control uses the intentional superposition of acoustic waves to create a destructive interference pattern such that a reduction of the unwanted sound occurs. In active noise control system the choice of a control structure and design of the controller are the main issues of concern. In real acoustic fields there are a vast number of noise sources with time-varying nature and the characteristics of transducers and the geometric set-up of control system are subject to change. Accordingly the control system should be designed to adapt such circumstances so that required level of performance is maintained. In this paper, the adaptive control algorithm for self-tuning adaptive controller is presented for the application in active noise control system. Self-tuning is a direct integration of identification and controller design algorithm in such a manner that the two processes proceed sequentially. The least mean square algorithm was used for the identification schemes and adaptive weighted minimum variance control algorithm was applied for self-tuning controller. Computer simulation results for self-tuning feedback controller are presented. And simulation results was shown to be useful for the situation in which the periodic noise sources act on the acoustic field.
In this study, we developed a micropattern technology in the shape of RFID TAG antenna using ultrasonic micropattern manufacturing system developed to enable micropattern technology. The ultrasonic tool horn in longitudinal vibration mode was installed in the micropattern manufacturing system to develop the ultrasonic press technology for the micropattern antenna shape of the RFID TAG antenna shape on the insulating sheet surface. The ultrasonic shaping technology was manufactured by applying the resonance design technique to a 60kHz tool horn, and by using the micropattern manufacturing system, the coil wire having a thickness of 25㎛ can be ultrasonically press-molded on an insulating sheet of 200㎛ or less. In ultrasonic press technology, the antenna shape having a minimum line width of 150㎛ could be molded without disconnection, peeling, or twisting of the coil wire.
