Air-water countercurrent flow limitation at perforated plates with four holes was investigated in a vertical tank to see the effects of the plate thickness, the number of hole, and the diameter of the hole on the onset of CCFL. The thickness of plates was 1 cm and 4 cm, with a relatively large hole diameter of 5 cm. The collapsed water level formed on the perforated plate and its distribution in the upper plenum were measured. The gas flow rate in the multi-hole plate is relatively higher than one in the single tube because some of holes in the multi-hole plate provide a flow path fur liquid with less air-liquid resistance than in the single tube. The onset of CCFL occurred at nearly the same air flow rate regardless of the plate thickness. The negligible effect of the plate thickness on CCFL means that the flooding is initiated at the top of the plate rather than at its bottom. It turns out that $j_k$ and $K_k$ better fit the data than $H_k$ when hole diameter is greater than 2.86 cm. In our experimental ranges, the collapsed water levels at the onset of CCFL ranged from 7.5 cm to 10.5 cm. There was no three dimensional distribution of water level before and after the onset of CCFL.
High speed railway structure, contact of vehicle needs to design considering the running stability(dynamic behavior). Also, upper structure has to satisfy design standard about moving load, high speed train(KTX). So, the high speed railway structure has to satisfy the requirement of natural frequency, vertical acceleration on deck, face distortion and vertical displacement considering ride comfort, which is suggested Ho-nam high speed railway design standard. In this study, it was investigated and evaluated to the dynamic behavior for tow plate Girder railway bridge subjected to moving load considering real high speed train loads.
In-site Continuous Method to improve the dynamic performance of railway plater girder bridge was developed. In this study, the In-site Continuous Method in the existing railway plate girder bridge was applied. Comparison of the results obtained from the field experiment were presented. The reductions in vertical acceleration were shown to approximately 24.8%, 45.4% and 27.5% in case of the freight train, passenger train and express tilting train, respectively. The reductions of lateral acceleration were shown to approx. 31%, 39% and 15% in the previous case. In the vertical displacement, the reductions were shown to approx. 20%, 13% and 12.6%, respectively. Through this method, we expect the problem of the restriction in speed up of train to be solve.

Because of the importance of suction or injection in the fields of aerodynamics, space science and many other industrial applications, our present study is motivated. The effect of natural convection on MHD flow past a vertical plate with suction or injection is studied. We have tried to solve the dimensionless governing equations by using finite difference scheme. To ensure the validity of our numerical solutions, we have compared our numerical solutions for temperature and velocity for the case of suction and injection for unit Prandtl number with the available exact solutions in the literature. The corresponding codes were written in Mathematica 5.0 for calculating numerical solutions for temperature and velocity and the comparison between the exact and numerical solutions. For the purpose of discussing the results some numerical calculations are carried out for non-dimensional temperature T, velocity u, skin friction ${\tau}$ and the Nusselt number $N_u$, by making use of it, the rate of heat transfer is studied.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of martial art type and target height on the ground reaction force factors during Dollyuchagi motion. Data were collected using force plate. Five Taekwondo players and five Hapkido players were tested during Dollyuchagi motion to three different target heights(0.8, 1.2, 1.6 m). After analysis of kinetics using force plate data, maximum vertical ground reaction force was 1.62~2.44 BW, and impulse was $0.66\sim1.01 BW{\cdot}s$. Even though there was no difference for maximum ground reaction forces and impulse between Hapkido and Taekwondo, as target height was higher, impulse increased. Anterior-posterior and vertical ground reaction forces at kicking foot take-off were greater with target height, although there was no difference for medio-lateral force with target height. At impact there was significant difference for anterior-posterior ground reaction force between Hapkido and Taekwondo players. Taekwondo players' force (range, -0.23~-0.26 BW) was greater than Hapkido players's force (range, -0.08~-0.14 BW).
In this paper, we show the numerical and experimental results of two-dimensional fluid motions inside a rectangular container with a vertical plate subjected to a background rotation added by a rotational oscillation. In the PIV experiment we apply a new algorithm, NTSS, to the velocity calculation. In the numerical computation, the linear Ekman-pumping model was used to take the bottom friction effect into account. It was found that it showed good agreement with the experimental results at low ${\epsilon}$ number.

This paper has dealt with the characteristics of mass and heat transfer of vertical flat plate with free convection. The theory of similarity transformations applied to the momentum and energy equations for free convection. To derive the similarity equation of mass transfer. the equation for conservation of species was added to the continuity. momentum and energy equations. The momentum, energy and species equations set numerically to obtain the velocity, temperature and mass fraction of species as dimensionless. For cases where momentum transport dominates, the thermal boundary layers are shorter than the momentum boundary layer. The relationships between momentum, energy and species were clarified from this study.

There is a mechanical device between the superstructure and substructure of a bridge, which transmit vertical load of superstructure to the substructure and absorb horizontal displacement of super structure due to thermal, dynamic, load, etc. In order to meet two requirements at once, the structure of roller between plates is widely used, and this roller between plates is widely used, and this roller shoe system is known to have smaller horizontal movement resistance than any other type of bridge shoe. In this study, rolling friction resistance characteristics of roller-plate friction system is investigated according to roller dimension, vertical load, hardness and roughness of roller and plate. On the base of the results, the rolling friction resistance of large scale roller shoe is evaluated using model experiment.
In the present paper, the wave absorbing performance of the fully submerged horizontal porous plates has been investigated, numerically and experimentally. The submerged porous system is composed of multi-layered horizontal porous plates that are clamped at the vertical setwall, which are slightly inclined and placed vertically, in parallel, with spacing. The hydrodynamic interaction of incident waves with the rigid porous multi-layered plates was formulated within the context of linear wave-body interaction theory and Darcy's law. In order to validate the effectiveness of the present computing code, the numerical results were compared with the analytical and experimental results. It is found that triple horizontal porous plates with slight inclination, if properly tuned for wave energy dissipation against the standing waves in front of the vertical wall, can have high performances in reducing the reflected wave amplitudes against the incident waves over a wide range of wave frequency.
This study investigates the effects of a bridge deck's width-to-depth (B/H) ratio and turbulence on buffeting response and flutter critical wind speed of long-span bridges by conducting section model tests. A streamlined box section and a plate girder section, each with four B/H ratios, were tested in smooth and turbulent flows. The results show that for the box girders, the response increases with the B/H ratio, especially in the vertical direction. For the plate girders, the vertical response also increases with the B/H ratio. However, the torsional response decreases as the B/H ratio increases. Increasing the B/H ratio and intensity of turbulence tends to improve the bridge's aerodynamic stability. Experimental results obtained from the section model tests agree reasonably with the calculated results obtained from a numerical analysis.
