  • The effect of vortex generators to manipulate the separated flow region behind the vertical fence was experimentally investigated. The experiments were performed in the circulating water channel. The parameters used in this study were the distance between the fence and vortex generators and size of vortex generators. Digital PIV method was applied to measure the instantaneous velocity fields around the fence. And the obtained flow properties were compared with those of fence How without the vortex generators. The obtained results quantitatively shows the specific size and distance of vortex generators which were effective to reduce the mean reattachment length of separation bubble behind the fence.

  • Pentacene moiety has been widely studied in Organic Thin-Film Transistor (OTFT) device as a channel layer because of high carrier mobility. In this study, we have fabricated vertical type Organic Static Induction Transistors (SITs) using pentacene, 6,13-Dinaphthalen-1-ly-Pentacene (1-DNP, 3), and 6,13-Dinaphthalen-2- ly-Pentacene (2-DNP, 4). 1-DNP and 2-DNP have same naphtyl group with pentacene, but different linked position and spatial arrangement. We have checked the static characteristics of materials in vertical type SITs device. We found that pentacene has as on/off ratio of 14.56, 1-DNP and 2-DNP shows as on/off ratio of 36.58 and 6.61 at VDS = 2V in SIT, respectively.

  • This study investigates the magnitude of errors that can be expected in integrating sediment concentration in a vertical, basede on a single-point measurement, because of errors in input data. Potential error sources, including sampler location, water surface elevation, bed elevation, fall velocity, $\beta$ value, and $\kappa$ value were comparatively examined using data from a special study on the Rio Grande Conveyance channel in New Mexico. It is concluded that simple forms of equations for the vertical distribution of velocity and sediment concentration based on a single-point field sample of suspended sediment. The most uncertain point in the computation is related to the Rouse number z in the equation for the vertical concentration distribution of suspended sediment.

  • We had introduced the backgrounds, history and physical meanings of Jong Nang in "Jeju Jong Nang Channel Code I, II and III". In "Jeju Jong Nang Channel Code II" paper, we have introduced practical the root of digital human binary coded Jong Nang communications as the wooden gate in Korea Jeju Island custom and investigated Jong Nang gatemodels as an approximation of the AWGN model. The objective was to find a deterministic model, which was accessible to analysis the capacity. Jong Nang communications mean the normal 3 rafters placed on two vertical stones with three holes to convey the family's whereabouts that is deterministic signal. In this paper we find the capacity of deterministic signal processing about the linear deterministic signals approximately.

  • A numerical study was performed to predict refrigerant charge amount in a mini-channel condenser for a R410A residential air-conditioning system. Multi-channel flat tubes with 12 mini-channels of 1.17 mm average hydraulic diameter for each tube were applied to the condenser. The condenser consisted of 3 passes, and the first, second, and third pass had 44, 19, and 11 tubes, respectively. Each pass was connected by a vertical header. In this study, the condenser was divided into 410 finite volumes, and analyzed by an $\varepsilon$-NTU method. With thermophysical properties and void fraction models for each volume element, the R410A amount distribution and a total charge amount in the condenser were calculated. The predicted total charge amount was compared with the experimentally measured charge amount under a standard ARI A condition. The developed model could predict the charge amount in the mini-channel condenser within prediction errors from -23.9% to -3.0%. Air velocity distribution at the condenser face was considered as non-uniform and uniform by the simulation model, and its results showed that the air velocity distribution could significantly influence the charge amount and vapor phase distribution in the condenser.

  • VHF is generally used for data or voice communications between ships and land stations. Although there exist many analytical and empirical channel models for radio waves on land, over-the-sea models are very limited to basic description. In this paper, a VHF channel is measured using vertical and/or horizontal whip antennas on shore and a moving ship for various ranges. The results show that the Doppler shift and changes in power for various ranges are observed. We can also find that the statistical analysis results in that the statistical parameters are rapidly changes, especially for V/H and H/V channels.

  • In this study, we evaluate the thermal-hydraulic performance and economics of Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE) according to the channel types and associated shape variables for the design of recuperators with Sodium-cooled Fast Reactors (SFRs). To perform the evaluations with variables such as the Reynolds number, channel types, tube diameter, and shape variables, a code for the heat exchanger is developed and verified through a comparison with experimental results. Based on the code, the volume and pressure drop are calculated, and an economic assessment is conducted. The zigzag type, which has bending angle of 80° and a tube diameter of 1.9 mm, is the most economical channel type in a SFR using CO2 as the working fluid. For a SFR using N2, we recommend the airfoil type with vertical and horizontal numbers of 1.6 and 1.1, respectively. The airfoil type is superior when the mass flow rate is large because the operating cost changes significantly. When the mass flow rate is small, volume is a more important design parameter, therefore, the zigzag type is suitable. In addition, we conduct a sensitivity analysis based on the production cost of the PCHE to identify changes in optimal channel types.

  • This research observed the cross section current of 7 survey lines in Seokmo Channel of Gyeonggi bay with a lot of freshwater inflow and S-shaped for 13 hours during flood season and neap tide. We indicated the distribution of the current velocity by comprehending the speed and direction of the current velocity of each line during maximum flood, ebb tide and observed the distribution of salinity. Moreover, in order to understand what lateral momentum causes the lateral flow in each survey line, we practiced the momentum analysis through the observation data. As a result, the lateral baroclinic pressure gradient force and vertical friction of the Seokmo channel during neap tide were the strongest, and this is why the flow by the distribution of salinity and stratification most often occurs. In north of the Seokmo channel, where have wide intertidal and a lot of freshwater inflow, the secondary circulation is caused by balance of lateral baroclinic pressure gradient force and other forces, and the vertical friction was strong in the lines with small depth. On the other hand, in the southern part of the Seokmo channel where the water is deep and the waterway is curved, the advective acceleration and centrifugal force become stronger by the geographical causes during ebb and the influence of fresh water. Therefore, the lateral flow in the Seokmo channel was caused by the distribution of the momentum that differs by location, depth, curve, etc.

  • In this paper, a system of automatic placement and routing for gate array layout design is proposed. In the placement stage, the circuit is partitioned and using the concept of min-cut slicing, and each partitioned module is placed, so that the routing density over the entire chip be uniformized and the total wiring length be minimized. In the global routing stage, the concept of the probabilistic routing density is introduced to unify the wiring congestions in each channel. In the detailed routing stage, the multi-terminal nets are partitioned into the two-terminal nets. The ordered channel graph is proposed which implies the vertical and the horizontal constranint graphs simultaneously. And using the ordered channel graph, the proposed routing algorithm assigns the signal nets to the tracks. Also the proposed placement and routing algorithms are implimented on IBM/PC-AT to construct PC-level gate array layout system.
