  • Objective : This paper is aimed at suggesting further tasks by checking and rectifying the errors of the ancieut Chinese-vernacular Korean translations of Park Ji-won(朴趾源)'s "Kumryosocho". Method : In order to correct the wrongly transcribed "Kumryosocho" was contrasted with the original "Xiangzubiji(香祖筆記)", of which the part is "Kumryosocho". And then the errors and mistakes are discovered in published ancient Chinese-to-vernacular Korean translations. Result : In the course of checking the existing translations of "Kumryosocho", this paper identified the following types of errors. 1. Errors attributable to unfamiliar names of medicinal herbs 2. Errors due to the unfamiliarity with the names of diseases or symptoms in Traditional Koreau Medicine(TKM). 3. Errors committed in hand transcription. These types of errors were committed as well in translating jargons routinely used in TKM books. To the surprise, the errors above have been repeated even in the latest version of its translation. This means that the medicine-related materials by Silhak scholars, including "Kumryosocho", were placed at a dead zone of the research between Chinese classic scholars and TKM scholars. Conclusion : To minimize errors and mistakes, it is needed to activate the cooperative work of heterogeneous experts in two academic fields.

  • This paper focuses on the rewards, one of the elements(goal, competition, and reward) of gamification, and investigate the actual cases of its application to real variety shows. In this paper, I analyzed <2 Days and 1 Night> which offers trivial(general) rewards, and which offers special(unusual) rewards, and which offers "vernacular" rewards. Unlike specific rewards, abstract ones were estimated to bring about weak gamification effects. In Youn's Kitchen, however, the cast members felt that they received individual and subjective rewards despite its invisible rewards. And the show even reinforced the complete nature of its narrative structure. These results shows that real variety shows can have new and diverse reward structure.

  • This study aims to analyse the method and strategy of spatial composition in the selective works of Italian architect Carlo Mollino. With the continuos renovation of the interpretative frames and method on modernity and in particular on the spatial phenomenon, works of Mollino, once disregarded by the historiography and evaluated for its peculiarity. emerge as important architectural phenomenons. The intrinsic value in his works also enable to comprehend the complexity and multiplicity of modernity in contemporary architecture. In order to achieve this preposition, six important works were analyzed with three key words, to understand comprehensively the process and the significance of each work and Mollino's contribution in the spatial composition of domestic and public spaces. Evaluation of the spatial strategies in conceptual investigations of Mollino had been underestimated to the relative poor conservation or incomprehension of various work, excluded from the categories of architectural elaborations. This study also aims to contribute, in the broad sense, the dialectical significance of modernity by emphasizing the aspects of his work related with Surrealism and vernacular tradition, as well as with its relationship with the various spatial dispositives.

  • Two new and one unrecorded hybrids of the genus Asplenium were newly found in Korea. They were proved to be hybrid based on intermediate morphology between putative parents. The first hybrid is $A.{\times}uiryeongse$ C.S. Lee & K. Lee (Aspleniaceae), nom. nov. (vernacular name: geo-mi-sa-cheol-go-sa-ri). This new hydrid is a cross between the Asian walking fern, A. ruprechtii and A. pekinens in Uiryeong-gil, Mt. Bukansan, Seoul, Korea. The other new one occurs in Mt. Seongsan in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do, Korea, $A.{\times}montanus$ C.S. Lee & K. Lee, nom. nov. (vernacular name: san-kko-ri-go-sa-ri) which might have experienced multiple hybridization events between A. ruprechtii ${\times}$ A. trichomanes and A. incisum following the hybrid between A. ruprechtii and A. trichomanes. In addition, one unrecorded hybrid, $A.{\times}kitazawae$ Kurata & Hutoh (vernacular name: geo-mi-dol-dam-go-sa-ri), reported first from Japan, is found in natural habitats in Do-dong, Daegu-si, and is a hybrid, between the Asian walking fern and A. sarelli. These hybrid taxa grow in sympatric regions with both putative parental species. The diagnostic characters for each taxon and evidence for their hybridization have been suggested. Descriptions, illustrations, and photographs of these hybrid taxa in their habitats are provided from Korea.

  • In the beginning of the 1930's. Le Corbusier's new attention turned toward the local conditions of construction, which can be associated with the prevailing sprit of regionalism and vernaculaire culture. What especially concerns us here is the reference that Le Corbusier makes to vernacular architecture, which we have seen to be the soure of his late houses. During the 1950's, with the United' habitation and the Jaoul houses, Le Corbusier ushered in a new housing trend onto the scene. noteworthy for its use of raw materials and for its opposition to the international style.

  • This writing is to understand some trends and its meaning of Regionalism Architecture in Jeju Island since 1950's. This thesis began with an interest in the identity crisis implicit in the simultaneous striving for modernism and the so-called regional values in Jeju Island. Regionalism is a response in architectural terms to re-establish continuity in a given place between past and present forms, and also a unique result related to particular places, cultures and climates in region. This is one way of looking at the issues of regional identity. The study began by observing the general characteristics of contemporary ideas on Regionalism in Jeju architecture. This means that tracing the history of development of Regionalism architecture in research area is not the focus of this thesis. The thesis demonstrates that Regionalism architectures in Jeju shows some trends related to the local cultural elements (or ideas) such like traditional architectural forms, natural environment, local construction-materials, etc. In summation, in the perspective of Regionalism architecture, mostofbuildingsin Jeju bring out them only as vernacular architecture as it was once produced, by the simple combination and imitation without any creative interaction of the regional culture. I stress the point in this paper that, in over the last fifty years, there have been very narrowed attempts to design the regional values in the main, and also point out that there are problems in the manner in which local architects have gone about trying to define the regional themes. So, a grate depth is required to understand the phenomenon that Jeju area is with its various nuances of traditions, art, culture, climate and light and then to reinterpret it into the modern building type with all the high sense. In addition to that, some conclusions are reached on future directions and the significance of the study.

  • Two newly recorded species, Cyrtomium laetevirens and Dryopteris simasakii var. paleacea (Dryopteridaceae) were collected from forests in Jeonnam, Geongnam and Jeju-do, with the latter also, found addedly in Gwanaksan, Seoul. C. laetevirens (vernacular name: 'Yun-soe-go-bi) was distinguished from other Korean congeners of the genus Cyrtomium by having glossy laminae, narrow lanceolate, yellow-green pinnae with minutely serrated margin and gradually narrowing shape from base to apex, along with entire, unicolor, and white grayish indusia. D. simasakii var. paleacea (vernacular name: Cheung-cheung-ji-ne-go-sa-ri'), was distinguished by shining leaves, opposite pinnae arrangement, no falcate pinnules, and densely adpressed scaly wholly along with irregular dark brown scales on stipe and rachis. Descriptions and illustrations of the two taxa and their photographs in the habitat are provided along with a key to the species of Cyrtomium and sect. Hirpedes of Dryopteris from Korea.
