Development of Strain-gauge-type Rotational Tool Dynamometer and Verification of 3-axis Static Load (스트레인게이지 타입 회전형 공구동력계 개발과 3축 정적 하중 검증)

  • In this task, the tool dynamometer design and manufacture, and the Ansys S/W structural analysis program for tool attachment that satisfies the cutting force measurement requirements of the tool dynamometer system are used to determine the cutting force generated by metal cutting using 3-axis static structural analysis and the LabVIEW system. The cutting power in a cutting process using a milling tool for processing metals provides useful information for understanding the processing, optimization, tool status monitoring, and tool design. Thus, various methods of measuring cutting power have been proposed. The device consists of a strain-gauge-based sensor fitted to a new design force sensing element, which is then placed in a force reduction. The force-sensing element is designed as a symmetrical cross beam with four arms of a rectangular parallel line. Furthermore, data duplication is eliminated by the appropriate setting the strain gauge attachment position and the construction of a suitable Wheatstone full-bridge circuit. This device is intended for use with rotating spindles such as milling tools. Verification and machining tests were performed to determine the static and dynamic characteristics of the tool dynamometer. The verification tests were performed by analyzing the difference between strain data measured by weight and that derived by theoretical calculations. Processing test was performed by attaching a tool dynamometer to the MCT to analyze data generated by the measuring equipment during machining. To maintain high productivity and precision, the system monitors and suppresses process disturbances such as chatter vibration, imbalances, overload, collision, forced vibration due to tool failure, and excessive tool wear; additionally, a tool dynamometer with a high signal-to-noise ratio is provided.

  • This paper considers a verification problem on EJB(Enterprise JavaBeans). We select SPIN as a automatic verification tool and consider an instance management specification of CMP(Container Managed-Persistence) entity bean. By showing the verification procedure, we can conclude that SPH can be used to verify EJB systems.

  • Verification of programmable logic controller (PLC) programs written in IEC 61131-3 function block diagram (FBD) is essential in the transition from the use of traditional relay-based analog systems to PLC-based digital systems. This paper describes effective use of the well-known verification tool VIS for automatic verification of behavioral equivalences between successive FBD revisions. We formally defined FBD semantics as a state-transition system, developed semantic-preserving translation rules from FBD to Verilog programs, implemented a software tool to support the process, and conducted a case study on a subset of FBDs for APR-1400 reactor protection system design.

  • This paper presents a new method of tool path optimization. A NC verification model based Z-map was utilized to obtain chip load in feed per tooth. This developed software can regenerate a NC program from cutting condition and the NC program that was generated in CAM. The regenerated NC program has not only all same data of the ex-NC program but also the new feed rates in every block. The new NC data can reduce the cutting time and manufacture precision dies with the same chip load in feed per tooth. This method can also prevent tool chipping and make constant tool wear. This paper considered the effects of acceleration and deceleration in feed rate change.

  • Feature models are widely used to model commonalities and variabilities among products during software product line development. Feature configurations are generated by selecting the features to be included in individual products. Automated tools to identify errors or inconsistencies in the feature models and configurations are essential to successful software product line engineering. This paper proposes a verification technique and tool based on semantic web technologies such as OWL, SWRL and Protege API. This approach checks the feature model and configuration based on predefined rules and provides information on existence of errors as well as the kinds of those errors. This approach is extensible due to ease of rule modification and may be easily applied to other environments because semantic web technologies can be easily integrated with other programming environments. This paper demonstrates how various semantic web-related technologies can support automatic verification of one kind of software development artifact, the feature model.

  • Development of complex discrete event simulators requires cooperation between domain experts and modeling experts who involve the development. With the cooperation the domain experts derive user requirement and modeling experts transform the requirement to a simulation model. This paper proposes a method for consistency verification of simulation model in DEVS formalism against the user requirement in UML diagrams. It also presents an automated tool, called VeriDEVS, which implements the proposed method. Inputs of VeriDEVS are three UML diagrams, namely use case, class and sequence diagrams, and DEVS Graph, all in Visio; outputs of a verification result is represented in PowerPoint files.

  • It is said that the verification effort occupies about 50-70 percent of the total effort of a System-On-A-Chip. This paper aims to develop a test bench automation tool based on the abstraction of the interface protocols. This tool will allow designers to describe their test benches in a high level language such as C rather than VHDL or Verilog. It helps designers to save their verification time and effort.

  • In this paper, the fast force algorithm has been studied so that it is used to calculate cutting forces and to develope the NC verification system. The NC verification using the fast force algorithm can verify excessive cutting force which is the cause of deflection and breakage of tool, and adjust the feed rate and spindle speed.

  • This paper describes methodology verifying near-surface predictability of numerical weather prediction models against the surface synoptic weather station network (SYNOP) observation. As verification variables, temperature, wind, humidity-related variables, total cloud cover, and surface pressure are included in this tool. Quality controlled SYNOP observation through the pre-processing for data assimilation is used. To consider the difference of topographic height between observation and model grid points, vertical inter/extrapolation is applied for temperature, humidity, and surface pressure verification. This verification algorithm is applied for verifying medium-range forecasts by a global forecasting model developed by Korea Institute of Atmospheric Prediction Systems to measure the near-surface predictability of the model and to evaluate the capability of the developed verification tool. It is found that the verification of near-surface prediction against SYNOP observation shows consistency with verification of upper atmosphere against global radiosonde observation, suggesting reliability of those data and demonstrating importance of verification against in-situ measurement as well. Although verifying modeled total cloud cover with observation might have limitation due to the different definition between the model and observation, it is also capable to diagnose the relative bias of model predictability such as a regional reliability and diurnal evolution of the bias.

  • DO-330 Software Tool Qualification Considerations is a guideline for development of tools used to develop/verify software and hardware installed on aircraft. And among several processes, the verification process is very crucial as it occupies a large proportion for DO-330. Especially, in order to qualify tool with high safety level, test objectives must be performed with independence, accordingly, more time, cost, and manpower are required than other objectives. In addition, even if the test cases or test procedures are well defined, the higher the complexity of the test the higher probability of human error occurs. In this paper, we propose Script-based Test Automation Agent software structure for efficient DO-330 verification process of A661UAGEN tool developed by Hanwha Systems. Compared to the test performed manually by the test engineer, testing time of the Script-based Test Automation Agent is reduced by 87.5% and testing productivity is increased by 43.75%.
