추정모델에 의한 화력발전 플랜트 계측데이터의 검증 및 유효화 (Estimation Model-based Verification and Validation of Fossil Power Plant Performance Measurement Data)

  • Fossil power plant availability is significantly affected by gradual degradations of equipment as operation of the plant continues. It is quite important to determine whether or not to replace some equipment and when to replace the equipment. Performance calculation and analysis can provide the information. Robustness in the performance calculation can be increased by using verification & validation of measured input data. We suggest new algorithm in which estimation relation for validated measurement can be obtained using correlation between measurements. Input estimation model is obtained using design data and acceptance measurement data of domestic 16 fossil power plant. The model consists of finding mostly correlated state variable in plant state and mapping relation based on the model and current state of power plant.

  • 게임 서비스를 위한 소프트웨어의 경우 그 신뢰도에 대한 중요성은 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 따라서 소프트웨어 신뢰도에 대한 평가 또한 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 개발 공정에 대한 대표 활동인 확인 및 검증이 소프트웨어 신뢰도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 정량적으로 분석하기 위하여 실험을 수행하였다. 이러한 실험 결과는, BBN (Bayesian Belief Network) 기반 신뢰도 평가와 같이, 개발 공정에 근거하여 신뢰도를 평가할 때 매우 유용한 근거 자료로 활용될 것이다.

  • This paper deals with the verification of the functions about mining robot, which is the system for developing deep seabed resources by applying V&V(verification and validation). In order to overcome water pressure of 500 bar and to travel on soft ground, and to operate in deep sea environment with bad conditions, it is necessary to develop a robot that can satisfy various deepsea conditions. A mining robot has been developed based on simulation based design and Multidisciplinary design optimization. In order to verify the developed robot, lab test and real sea test should be performed for various marine environment conditions. There are too many requirements to consider, such as space, time, cost, personnel, and environment to do performance test. So it is costly and time consuming for developing robot. In order to solve this problems, V&V technique was applied to mining robot. The stages of mining robot design, fabrication and commission were verified.

  • Numerical prediction of dynamic behavior of fully coupled saturated porous media is of great importance in many engineering problems. Specifically, static and dynamic response of soils - porous media with pores filled with fluid, such as air, water, etc. - can only be modeled properly using fully coupled approaches. Modeling and simulation of static and dynamic behavior of soils require significant Verification and Validation (V&V) procedures in order to build credibility and increase confidence in numerical results. By definition, Verification is essentially a mathematics issue and it provides evidence that the model is solved correctly, while Validation, being a physics issue, provides evidence that the right model is solved. This paper focuses on Verification procedure for fully coupled modeling and simulation of porous media. Therefore, a complete Solution Verification suite has been developed consisting of analytical solutions for both static and dynamic problems of porous media, in time domain. Verification for fully coupled modeling and simulation of porous media has been performed through comparison of the numerical solutions with the analytical ones. Modeling and simulation is based on the so called, u-p-U formulation. Of particular interest are numerical dispersion effects which determine the level of numerical accuracy. These effects are investigated in detail, in an effort to suggest a compromise between numerical error and computational cost.

A novel watermarking scheme for authenticating individual data integrity of WSNs

  • The limited computing power of sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and data tampering during wireless transmission are two important issues. In this paper, we propose a scheme for independent individual authentication of WSNs data based on digital watermarking technology. Digital watermarking suits well for WSNs, owing to its lower computational cost. The proposed scheme uses independent individual to generate a digital watermark and embeds the watermark in current data item. Moreover, a sink node extracts the watermark in single data and compares it with the generated watermark, thereby achieving integrity verification of data. Inherently, individual validation differs from the grouping-level validation, and avoids the lack of grouping robustness. The improved performance of individual integrity verification based on proposed scheme is validated through experimental analysis. Lastly, compared to other state-of-the-art schemes, our proposed scheme significantly reduces the false negative rate by an average of 5%, the false positive rate by an average of 80% of data verification, and increases the correct verification rate by 50% on average.

  • Design for automatic coupler system of Korean Tilting Train eXpress is described. In order to carry out validation & verification activities for system design, test condition is taken into account at collision speed of 10km/h, which is required in Safety Notice for rolling stock vehicle. The study aims at safety validation between a coupler and car body including design verification for a coupler through the identifying of system design and the evaluating of test results.

  • 사용자 어플리케이션에서 인증서 검증 과정을 모두 수행하는 것은 복잡하고 시간 소비적인 작업으로서 사용자 측에 상당한 부담을 줄 수 있다. 특히, 인증서의 서명을 검증하는 작업은 인증 경로 상의 모든 인증서들에 대한 암호화 계산이 수반되기 때문에 부담의 큰 원인이 된다. 본 논문에서는 사용자가 계층적 PKI 영역의 인증 기관 (Certificate Authority:CA)들에게 안전하고 신뢰성 있게 서명 검증 작업을 위임함으로서 인증서 검증 작업에 대한 사용자 측 부담을 줄이고 CA들의 활용도를 높일 수 있는 효율적인 인증서 검증 방식을 제안하였다. 제안한 방식은 기존 검증 방식의 암호화 계산으로 인한 부담을 감소시키고 CA들의 검증 작업의 참여로 인해 정적인 CA들을 동적으로 활용할 수 있다.

  • For the success of system development, it is necessary to systematically manage the requirements that are the basis of system development and its verification results. In order to follow the principles of SE(Systems Engineering)-based V&V(Verification&Validation) process, requirements can be managed by securing the requirements and their establishments, design compliances, and verification compliances according to the system development lifecycle. Especially, in a large-complex system research and development project, such as a space launch vehicle development project, many participants establish, verify, and validate numerous requirements together during the project. Therefore, logical and systematic requirements management, including guarantee of data integrity, change history, and traceability, is very important for multiple participants to utilize numerous requirements together without errors. This paper introduces the practical requirements and verification management for the requirements-based development process in the space launch vehicle development project.

  • In this paper, a design and implementation of an efficient protocol verification system named LOVE has been described. The LOVE has been developed specifically for LOTOS. It performs not only protocol syntax validation (PSV) but also protocol functional verification(PFV). The PSV is a test to check if a protocol is free from protocol syntax errors such as deadlocks and livelocks. The PFV confirms whether or not a protocol achieves its functional objectives. For the PSV, the reachability analysis is employed, and the observational equivalence test is used for the PFV. For protocol verification using the LOVE, a schematic protocol verification methodology has been outlined.

Verification, Validation, and Accreditation (VV&A) Considering Military and Defense Characteristics

  • In this paper, we identify the characteristics of modeling and simulation (M&S) for military and defense and propose the method of verification, validation, and accreditation (VV&A) using the identified characteristics. M&S has been widely used for many different applications in military and defense, including training, analysis, and acquisition. Various methods and processes of VV&A have been proposed by researchers and M&S practitioners to guarantee the correctness of M&S. The notion of applying formal credibility assessment in VV&A originated in software engineering reliability testing and the systems engineering development process. However, the VV&A techniques and processes proposed for M&S by the research community have not addressed the characteristics and issues specific to military and defense. We first identify the characteristics and issues of military/defense M&S and then propose techniques and methods for VV&A that are specific for military/defense M&S. Possible approaches for the development of VV&A are also proposed.
