경영전략과 최고경영자 특성이 기업성과에 미치는 영향: 벤처기업을 중심으로 (Competitive strategies, CEO characteristics, and firm performance in venture businesses)

  • 전략분야의 연구들은 일정 수준 이상 성공한 대기업을 대상으로 실증분석을 실시함으로써 제대로 된 성과함의를 도출하지 못할 여지가 있다. 이러한 측면에서 미래 시점에 성공할 기업과 실패할 기업이 현재 시점에 혼재되어 있는 벤처기업을 대상으로 논의의 타당성을 검증함으로써 보다 변별력 있는 연구결과를 획득할 가능성은 높아질 수 있다. 본 연구는 경영전략과 최고경영자의 특성, 그리고 이들 간의 상호작용효과가 기업성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 가설을 제시하고, 387개 벤처기업으로부터 회수된 설문에 근거하여 실증분석을 실시함으로써 전략분야의 논의들이 어떤 타당성을 가지는지를 벤처기업을 대상으로 검증하고자 하였다. 분석결과에 따르면 경영전략 중에서는 기술혁신 차별화 전략이, 최고경영자의 특성 중에서는 혁신성과 장기지향성이 기업성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 경영전략과 최고경영자의 특성 간의 상호작용효과의 경우 원가우위 전략과 마케팅 차별화 전략은 위험감수성향, 혁신성, 장기지향성 모두에 대해 유의한 결합효과를 보여주었다. 반면에 기술혁신 차별화 전략은 최고경영자의 특성 중 어느 것과도 유의한 결합효과를 보여주지 않았다. 이를 통해 원가우위 전략과 마케팅 차별화 전략은 기업성과에 단독으로 영향을 미치지 않고 최고경영자의 특성과 결합될 때 영향을 미치는 반면. 기술혁신 차별화 전략은 기업성과에 단독으로 영향을 미치지만 최고경영자의 특성과는 결합효과가 존재하지 않는다는 결론에 도달하였다. 본 연구는 벤처기업의 성과제고를 위해서는 경영전략과 최고경영자의 특성 간에 적합성을 추구하는 것이 중요하다는 사실을 실증분석을 통해 확인했다는 점에서 의의를 가진다.

인도 녹색산업 진입 전략에 대한 탐색적 연구 - 재생에너지 분야를 중심으로 - (The Exploratory Study on the Entry Mode for Indian Green Industry)

  • CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) between India and Korea may vitalize Korean economy more and more. Currently most of Korean firms have entered into manufacturing industries like electronics and automobiles. But only a few Korean companies are trying to penetrate into Indian green industry so this paper suggest how to enter into Indian green industry, especially renewable energy sectors. First, Exporting main shaft, tower-flange and polysilicon products can be considered, as a first step of entry mode. Second, entry mode based on contract like technology licensing, strategic alliance and joint venture establishment can be also one of options. For example, Korean solar energy industry which show more competitiveness than that of Indians should try to make technological licensing on PV modules. In addition to this, they should also try to make joint ventures with right Indian partners and build up 'Solar City' nearby regions like Gurgaon in India where many Korean firms are located. Korean shipbuilding firms like Hyundai Engineering which keep on developing wind turbo engines can also try to make strategic alliance with Indian firms like Suzlon which has strong competitiveness. After that, they should explore Korean and Indian wind sector markets together. Third, brownfield investment can be last and final option as a entry mode as we consider the peculiar characteristics of renewable energy industry. Lastly, Korean government which are rush to indulge into green business should formulate more proper and realistic policies to give big incentives the concerned firms which are trying to open international green market so government should make Korean green firms not to lose good market opportunities related to green industry like renewable energy sectors. Renewable energy sectors are basically regarded as infrastructures so close contact to Indian central government as well as state government will be also required.

기밀정보 유출 경험을 가진 기업들의 정보사고 대응역량 강화에 관한 연구 (The Correspondence Competence of Information Accident by Firms Experienced in Confidential Information Leak)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine a security investment for firms experienced in confidential information leak. Information security is an apparatus for protection of secret information. The competence of information security is a competitiveness to avoid information leakage in changing business environment. The type of information security is divided into administrative security, technical security and physical security. It is necessary to improve the incident correspondence competence through information security investment of the three types. Therefore, the investment of information security is to enhance information-asset protection of firms. To reinforce accident response competence, an organization discussed an establishment, security technology development, expand investment and legal system of the security system. I have studied empirically targeting the only information leak of firms. This data is a technical security competence and technology leakage situation of firms happened in 2010. During recovery of the DDos virus damage on countries, company and individual, the collected data signify a reality of information security. The data also identify a security competence of firms worrying information security management. According to the study, the continuous investment of information security has a high competence of accident correspondence. In addition, the most of security accidents showed a copy and stealing of paper and computer files. Firm on appropriate security investment is an accident correspondence competence higher than no security investment regardless of a large, small and medium-sized, and venture firm. Furthermore, the rational security investment should choose the three security type consideration for firm size.

엔젤투자자의 투자의사 결정요인 분석: 재무적 특성을 중심으로 (The Analysis of Investment Determinants in Angel Investors: Focus on the Financial Characteristics)

  • 최근 벤처기업 육성을 위한 제2벤처 붐 확산 등에 힘입어 전문투자자 뿐만 아니라 일반 개인까지 스타트업 시장에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 이와 같은 투자자 다변화에 따라 최근 엔젤투자자를 대상으로 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있으나 그들의 투자기업 선정 시 어떠한 요인을 고려하는지에 대해서는 주로 설문조사를 기반으로 연구가 이루어진 상황이다. 따라서 엔젤투자자가 실제로 투자한 기업내역을 토대로 그들이 어떠한 기업특성을 고려하는지에 대해 보다 엄정하게 고찰할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 첫쨰, 엔젤투자자의 투자결정에 있어 어떠한 재무적 특성이 영향을 미치는지를 분석하였다. 둘째, 스타트업의 업력을 기준으로 창업 초기 또는 창업 중기단계 이후의 기업을 구분한 후 세부적인 분석을 수행하였다. 본 연구의 주요 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 엔젤투자자의 투자기업 선정에 있어 수익성이나 안정성보다는 순이익증가율이나 자산증가율과 같은 성장성 측면이 중요한 요인으로 작용하였다. 또한, 무형자산과 R&D 비중이 높을수록 투자기업을 선택할 가능성이 높은 것으로 확인된다. 둘째, 엔젤투자자의 투자기업 선정을 위한 재무적 요인에 있어 업력이 3년을 초과하여 본격적으로 창업 중기단계에 진입한 기업에서는 성장성 뿐만 아니라 활동성 측면도 투자결정에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 종합하면, 엔젤투자자의 투자의사 결정은 기 실현된 수익성 보다는 스타트업의 성장세나 향후 성장 가능성에 중점을 두고 행해지는 것으로 판단된다. 또한, 창업 중기 이후의 기업은 성장성과 함께 실질적인 성과창출 가능성도 중요한 투자결정 요인인 것으로 추론해 볼 수 있다. 본 연구는 엔젤투자자가 실제로 투자한 내역을 기초로 다양한 스타트업의 재무적 특성을 고려하여 그들의 투자결정에 어떠한 측면이 중요하게 작용하는지를 실증적으로 규명하였다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.

한국수산업의 해외진출전략에 관한 연구 (Foreign Entry Strategies for Korean Fishery Firms)

  • Fishery resources are still abundant compared with other resources and the possibility of exploitation is probably great. The Korean fishery industry has grown remarkably since 1957, and Korea is ranked as one of the major fishery countries. Its of fishery products reached the 9th in the world and the value of exports was 5th in 1982. But recently a growth rate has slowed down, due to the enlargement of territorial seas by the declaration of the 200 mile, Exclusive Economic Zone, the tendency to develop fishery resources strate-gically in international bargaining, the change in function of the international organizations, the expansion of regulated waters, the illegal arrest of our fishing boats, the rapid rise in oil prices, and the fall in fish prices, the development of fishery resources as a symbol of nationalism, the fishing boats decreptitude, the rise of crew wages, regulations on fishing methods, fish species, fishing season, size of fish, and mesh size, fishing quotas and the demand of excessive fishing royalties. Besides the the obligation of coastal countries, employing crews of their host countries is also an example of the change in the international environment which causes the aggravation of foreign profit of fishing firms. To ameliorate the situation, our Korean fishery firms must prepare efficient plans and study systematically to internationalize themselves because such existing methods as conventional fishing entry and licence fishing entry are likely to be unable to cope with international environmental change. Thus, after the systematic analysis of the problem, some new combined alternatives might be proposed. These are some of the new schemes to support this plan showing the orientation of our national policy: 1. Most of the coastal states, to cope with rapid international environmental change and to survive in the new era of ocean order, have rationalized their higher governmental structure concerning the fishery industries. And the coastal countries which are the objectives of our expecting entry, demand excessive economic and technical aid, limit the number of fishing boats’entry and the use of our foreign fishing bases, and regulate the membership of the international fishery commissions. Especially, most of the coastal or island countries are recently independent states, which are poorer in national budget, depend largely on fishing royalties and licence entry fees as their main resources of national finance. 2. Alternatives to our entry to deep sea fishing, as internationalization strategies, are by direct foreign investment method. About 30 firms have already invested approximately US $ 8 million in 9 coastal countries. Areas of investment comprise the southern part of the Atlantic Ocean, the Moroccan sea and five other sea areas. Trawling, tuna purse seining and five other fields are covered by the investment. Joint-venture is the most prominent method of this direct investment. If we consider the number of entry firms, the host countries, the number of seas available and the size of investment, this method of cooperation is perhaps insufficient so far. Our fishery firms suffer from a weakness in international competitive ability, an insufficiency of information, of short funds, incompetency in the market, the unfriendliness of host coastal countries, the incapability of partners in joint-ventures and the political instability of the host countries. To enlarge our foreign fishing grounds, we are to actively adopt the direct investment entry method and to diversity our collaboraboration with partner countries. Consequently, besides proper fishing, we might utilize forward integration strategies, including the processing fied. a. The enterprise emigration method is likely to be successful in Argentina. It includes the development of Argentinian fishing grounds which are still not exploited in spite of abundant resources. Besides, Arentina could also be developed as a base for the exploitation of the krill resources and for further entries into collaboration with other Latin American countries. b. The co-business contract fishing method works in American territorial seas where American fishermen sell their fishery products to our factory ships at sea. This method contributes greatly to obtaining more fishing quotas and in innovation bottom fishing operation. Therefore we may apply this method to other countres to diffuse our foreign fishing entry. c. The new fishing ground development method was begun in 1957 by tuna long-line experimental fishing in the Indian Ocean. It has five fields, trawling, skipjack pole fishing and shrimp trawling, and so on. Recently, Korean fisheries were successful in the development of the Antarctic Ocean krill and tuna purse seining. 3. The acceleration of the internationalization of deep sea fishing; a. Intense information exchange activities and commission participation are likely to be continues as our contributions to the international fishery organizations. We should try to enter international fishery commissions in which we are not so far participating. And we have to reform adequately to meet the changes of the function of the international commissions. With our partner countries, we ought to conclude bilateral fishery agreements, thus enlarging our collaboration. b. Our government should offer economic and technical aids to host countries to facilitate our firms’fishery entry and activities. c. To accelerate technical innovation, our fishery firms must invest greater amount in technical innovation, at the same time be more discriminatory in importing exogeneous fishery technologies. As for fishing methods; expanded use of multi-purpose fishing boats and introduction of automation should be encuraged to prevent seasonal fluctuations in fishery outputs. d. The government should increases financial and tax aid to Korean firms in order to elevate already weak financial structure of Korean fishery firms. e. Finally, the government ought to revise foreign exchange regulations being applied to deep sea fishery firms. Furthermore, dutes levied on foreign purchaed equipments and supplies used by our deep sea fishing boats thould be reduced or exempted. when the fish caught by Korean partner of joint-venture firms is sold at the home port, pusan, import duty should be exempted.

한국 제조업체의 혁신활동 결정요인: 기업규모와 전유성의 역할 (The Determinants of Korean Manufacturing Firms' Innovative Activity: Do Firm Size and Appropriabilities Matter?)

  • 본 연구는 기업규모와 전유성 등의 기술전략이 기업 혁신활동을 결정짓는 데 대한 영향을 실증적으로 분석해보았다. 한국기술혁신조사(KIS)의 2016년 2,003개 제조업체의 자료로 로짓회귀모형과 영과잉음이항회귀를 활용하였다. R&D 지출과 특허출원이 혁신활동의 성과를 나타내는 변수로서 이용되었다. 설명변수로서는 기업의 특성을 나타내는 기업 나이, 기술수준별 산업구분, R&D 종사자수, 벤처기업여부, 수출여부, 그리고 산업 전유 특성을 타나내는 네트워크, 전유방법, Spillover를 설정하였다. 우선, 실증적인 분석결과는 전반적으로 기업의 규모에 따라 혁신활동 결정요인이 다르게 나타남을 보여주고 있다. 더욱이 혁신활동을 결정짓는 데에, 중소기업은 대기업보다 산업의 특성에 의해 유의미하게 영향을 받았다. 규모가 작은 신생기업, 벤처기업, 혹은 수도권 소재기업일 때 혁신활동에 긍정적인 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 전략적 전유는 소기업 R&D 지출과 중기업의 특허출원 성과에 부정적인 영향을 미치고 있다. 다른 기업 또는 산업 간의 네트워크는 대기업을 제외한 기업들에서 혁신활동을 결정짓는 중요한 결정요인으로 나타나고 있다. 기업간의 기술적 상호작용은 기술 spillover과 혁신활동의 가능성을 높일 수 있으나, 이 성과는 기업 규모와 산업 특성에 따라 다르게 나타날 수 있음을 보여준다.

스타트업관련 정책의 현황분석과 정책제안: 창업, 성장, 회수 등 단계별 시사점을 중심으로 (Analysis and Proposal of Startup Policy: Focusing on step-by-step Implications such as Startup, Growth, and Recovery)

  • 본 자료는 벤처생태계에 대한 정책적 제안을 중심으로 작성되었다. 첫째, 미국 벤처생태계의 3대 비밀 중 하나가 50:50의 법칙이다. 벤처 캐피털 투자와 대등하게 엔젤캐피털 투자가 뒷받침 되어야 한다. 엔젤캐피털에 해당하는 전문엔젤투자자와 엑셀러레이터가 벤처 생태계에서 차지하는 비중이 VC에 비해 낮지 않음에도 불구하고 정책적 배려에서 소외되어 있다. 관련 법령의 개정이 시급한 것으로 생각한다. 둘째, 미국 대기업은 내부 R&D보다 M&A에 더 많이 투자한다. 따라서 엑셀러레이터·전문엔젤투자자들은 창업 기업에 투자한 후 효과적으로 투자금 회수를 하게 된다. 즉 중간회수시장의 발달 없이는 엔젤캐피털이 들어오지 않는다. 엔젤캐피털과 중간회수시장은 벤처생태계를 갖추기 위한 양대 축이라고 생각한다. 이를 활성화시키기 위해서는 정부의 역할만으로는 어렵다. 민간이 들어와야 하며, 기업주도형 벤처캐피털(CVC)을 도입해야 하는 이유이다. 셋째, 국가 경제 성장을 위한 정책방향을 기존 스타트업에서 스케일업까지 확대해야 한다고 생각한다. 기업의 매출액과 고용창출은 5년 후부터 본격화되기 때문이다. 기존 연구가 자금 공급, 즉 벤처금융에 초점을 맞췄다면, 본 연구는 벤처기업 또는 벤처투자의 수명 주기라 할 수 있는 창업, 성장, 회수의 세 단계를 균형 있게 전부 다루고자 했다. 특히 실무적 완성도를 높이기 위해 챕터별 구체적인 정책을 제시했다.

초기 중소벤처의 기술혁신역량과 기업성과의 관계에 관한 연구 (Empirical Study on Relationship Between ex-ante Early Stage Venture Technology Innovation Power and ex-post Firm's Performance)

  • The objective of the study is to verify the discriminatory power of technology innovation in predicting Early Stage Ventures' success or failure. To accomplish this objective, we test early stage ventures'(Firm's period is below 3 years)technology innovation and performance. The result of the study is expected to be useful in loan evaluation, investment decision, internal management decision making and business improvement. The results of study is as follows. First, Early Stage Ventures' technology innovation power is composed of 4 major indexes(technology, marketability, manufacturing infra and economic feasibility). Second, we find that thirty-seven minor indexes are significant ex-ante variable which are discriminating between firms' success and failure in Early Stage Ventures. Also thirty-seven minor indexes explain 57.2% of the total variance. This explainable power of these indexes is similar to that of the existing 58 index elements. Finally, we find that the most important technology innovation power of Early Stage Ventures' is economic feasibility.

창업 중소.벤처기업의 초기자금 규모 설정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Early-Stage Financing Scale for Building Small & Medium Business)

  • This study aims at examining the early-stage financing scale for entrepreneur to build small & medium business. The data was collected from the DART (Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System) of Korean Financial Supervisory Service(FSS) in the main. The results of this study show that small & medium business needs equipment & operation financing for about 37 months extent to reach Break-Even Point. The limitations of this study are data collections from registered firms on Korean FSS primarily and no showing about the early stage financing scale for building small & Medium Business concretely. Small & Medium business entrepreneur have to make a early stage finance plan according to a necessary equipment and operating cost in their business field for 37 months extent.

Economic Evaluation of the IT SoC Industry Infrastructure Program

  • This paper evaluates the economic effect of the IT SoC Industrial Foundation Composition Project. The evaluation was done in three steps. The first step was to estimate the contribution effect of the fabless small and medium venture business' sales. The step includes interview with all the CEOs of the firms under the support of the Enterprise Incubation System, The second step was to apply input-output analysis and then estimate the production inducement effect. The last step was to compare the results of estimation with the costs of the project. We have concluded this project had achieved 6.3 times greater economic effect compared to the budget. The reason for the large economic effect is that the project provided various infrastructures to the small and medium venture businesses.
