In surface image velocimetry, a wide area of a river is photographed at an angle to measure its velocity, inevitably causing image distortion. Although a distorted image can be corrected into an orthogonal image by using 2D projective coordinate transformation and considering reference points on the same plane as the water surface, this method is limited by the uncertainty of changes in the water level in the event of a flood. Therefore, in this study, we developed a tilt image correction technique that corrects distortions in oblique images without resetting the reference points while coping with changes in the water level using the geometric relationship between the coordinates of the reference points set at a high position the camera, and the vertical distance between the water surface and the camera. Furthermore, we developed a distortion correction method to verify the corrected image, wherein we conducted a full-scale river experiment to verify the reference point transformation equation and measure the surface velocity. Based on the verification results, the proposed tilt image correction method was found to be over 97% accurate, whereas the experiment result of the surface velocity differed by approximately 4% as compared to the results calculated using the proposed method, thereby indicating high accuracy. Application of the proposed method to an image-based fixed automatic discharge measurement system can improve the accuracy of discharge measurement in the event of a flood when the water level changes rapidly.
Conical vortices on roof corners of a prismatic low-rise building have been investigated by using the PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) technique. The Reynolds number based on the free stream velocity and model height was $5.3{\times}10^3$. Mean and instantaneous vector fields for velocity, vorticity, and turbulent kinetic energy were measured at two vertical planes and for two different flow angles of $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$. The measurements provided a clear view of the complex flow structures on roof corners such as a pair of counter rotating conical vortices, secondary vortices, and tertiary vortices. They also enabled accurate and easy measurement of the size of vortices. Additionally, we could easily locate the centers of the vortices from the ensemble averaged velocity fields. It was observed that the flow angle of a $30^{\circ}$ produces a higher level of vorticity and turbulent kinetic energy in one of the pair of vortices than does the $45^{\circ}$ flow angle.
This study is an impact assessment of building blocks on urban inundation depth and area. LiDAR data is used to generate two original data set in terms of DEM with $5{\times}5$ meter and building block elevation layer of the study drainage area in Cheongju and then the building block elevation layer is modified again to the mesh data with same size to DEM. Two-dimensional inundation analysis is carried out by applying 2D SWMM model. The inundation depth calculated by using the building block elevation layer shows higher reliability than the DEM. This is resulted from the building block interference to surface flow. In addition, the maximum flooded area by DEM is two times wider than the area by building block layer. In the case of the surface velocity, the difference of velocity is negligible in either DEM or building block case in the low building impact zone. However, If the impact of building on the surface velocity was increase, the gap of velocity was significant.
Impact damages induced by a low-velocity impact load on carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite plates fabricated with various stacking sequences were studied experimentally. The impact responses of the CFRP composite plates were significantly affected by the laminate stacking sequences. Three types of specimens, specifically quasi-isotropic, unidirectional, and cross-ply, were tested by a constant impact carrying the same impact energy level. An impact load of 3.44 kg, corresponding to 23.62 J, was applied to the center of each plate supported at the boundaries. The unidirectional composite plate showed the worst impact resistance and broke completely into two parts; this was followed by the quasi-isotropic lay-up plate that was perforated by the impact. The cross-ply composite plate exhibited the best resistance to the low-velocity impact load; in this case, the impactor bounced back. Impact parameters such as the peak impact force and absorbed energy were evaluated and compared for the impact resistant characterization of the composites made by different stacking sequences.
This study was to investigate the kinematic analysis to score of the Yurchenko stretch skill according to phases in a horse vaulting. For this study, 8 male national gymnasts were participated in acquiring three dimensional kinematical imagining data with four Sony PD-150 video cameras After digitizing motion, the Direct Linear Transformation(DLT) technique was employed to obtain 3-D position coordinates. The kinematic factors of the distance, velocity and angle variable were calculated for Kwon3D 3.1. The following conclusions were drawn; 1) The COG resultant velocity of the less skilled group decreased in PRF phase because the less skilled group had a larger flexion-knee angle than the skilled group in BC phase, Because the less skilled group had larger flexion-shoulder angle than the skilled group in HTO phase, At blocking movement, the body inclined a moving direction. By means of it, COG lowered 2) The skilled group had a more rapid COG's vertical velocity than the less skilled group at HTD and HTO event in HC phase, because this was performed the blocking movement with body angle and contacted on a horse vaulting small and its time short by means of contacting hands on a horse vaulting quickly. Such blocking movement made the vertical up-flight movement easy at POF phase bringing out rapid COG's vertical velocity after take off a horse vaulting.
The Kinematic GPS is well known to provide a quite good accuracy of positioning within an level. Although kinematic GPS assures high precision measurement on the basis of an appreciable distance between a reference station and an observational point, it has measurable distance restriction within 20 km from a reference station on land. Therefore, it is necessary to make out a simple and low-cost method to obtain accurate positioning information without distance restriction In this paper, the velocity integration method to get the precise velocity information of a ship is explained. The experimental results of Zig-zag maneuver and Williamson turn as the ship's maneuvering test, and other experimental results of ship's movement during leaving and entering the port with low speed were shown. From the experimental results, ship's course, speed and position are compared with those obtained by kinematic-GPS, velocity integration method and dead reckoning position using Gyro-compass and Doppler-log.
In this study, nonlinear response of laminated functionally graded carbon nanotube reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) plate under low-velocity impact based on the Eshelby-Mori-Tanaka approach in thermal conditions is studied. The governing equations are derived based on higher-order shear deformation plate theory (HSDT) under von $K\acute{a}rm\acute{a}n$ geometrical nonlinearity assumptions. The finite element method with 15 DOF at each node and Newmark's numerical integration method is applied to solve the governing equations. Four types of distributions of the uniaxially aligned reinforcement material through the thickness of the plates are considered. Material properties of the CNT and matrix are assumed to be temperature dependent. Contact force between the impactor and the laminated plate is obtained with the aid of the modified nonlinear Hertzian contact law models. In the numerical example, the effect of layup (stacking sequence) and lamination angle as well as the effect of temperature variations, distribution of CNTs, volume fraction of the CNTs, the mass and the velocity of the impactor in a constant energy level and boundary conditions on the impact response of the CNTRC laminated plates are investigated in details.
The exact estimation of physical growth by Obesity level has important meaning to the health care and evaluation on adolescent girls. So this study tried to clear the relationship between weight and body fat by using data for the height, weight of 124 elementary school children and high school student in Seoul. Then this study tried to show the physical growth pattern and various characteristics by Obesity level by using longitudinal for the height, weight of 1113 high school students in Seoul, and it also tried to show what influencing factors on the physical growth of this aged population. The result could be summarized as follows. 1. The relationship between weight and body fat(%) has 0.81475(r) at age 9 and 0.69361(r) at age 18. Also the relationship between weight and lean body muscle(LBM %) has -0.81470(r) at age 9 and -0.64729(r) at age 18. 2. The weakness, normal and obesity groups were classified by Obesity level. In case of weakness group showed the very low Obesity level at age 8 to 11, in case of obesity group showed the high Obesity level at age 15 to 18. Also Rohrer index was decreasing tendency up to age 12 in weakness group and increasing tendency over age 14 in obesity group. 3. When the height and weight growth pattern was compared, height growth was superior to weight growth at age 9 to 14.5 in normal group. But weight growth was inferior to height growth at age 9 to 14.5 in normal group. In obesity group, weight growth was superior to height growth at age 7 to 18. On the other hand the height growth of weakness group was superior to the normal group and the obesity group except age 11 to 12. 4. On height velocity curve by PHV age obesity group showed the most growth amount per year(9.00Cm/yr), and the next is normal group(8.77Cm/yr), weakness group(8.70Cm/yr). Then the difference between PHV age and PWV age was within 1 year in these three groups. 5. In these three groups, height velocity curve by menarcheal age showed the PHV before 2~3 years of menarcheal age. And weight velocity curve by menarcheal age showed the remarkable PWV before 1 year of menarcheal age.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate biomechanical changes of the lower limb including dynamic stability with changes in illumination (300Lx, 150Lx, and 5Lx) and slope (level and $15^{\circ}$ downhill) as risk factors for elderly falls. Method : Fifteen elderly females were selected for this study. Seven infrared cameras (Proreflex MCU 240: Qualisys, Sweden) and an instrumented treadmill (Bertec, USA) surrounded by illumination regulators and lights to change the levels of illumination were used to collect the data. A One-Way ANOVA with repeated measures using SPSS 12.0 was used to analyze statistical differences by the changes in illumination and slope. Statistical significance was set at ${\alpha}=.05$. Results : No differences in the joint movement of the lower limbs were found with changes in illumination (p>.05). The maximum plantar flexion movement of the ankle joints appeared to be greater at 5Lx compared to 300Lx during slope gait (p<.05). Additionally, maximum extension movement of the hip joints appeared to be greater at 5Lx and 150Lx compared to 300Lx during slope gait (p<.05). The maximum COM-COP angular velocity (direction to medial side of the body) of dynamic stability appeared to be smaller at 150Lx and 300Lx compared to 5Lx during level gait (p<.05). The minimum COM-COP angular velocity (direction to lateral side to the body) of dynamic stability appeared smaller at 150Lx compared to 5Lx during level gait (p<.05). Conclusion : In conclusion, elderly people use a stabilization strategy that reduces walk speed and dynamic stability as darkness increases. Therefore, the changes in illumination during gait induce the changes in gait mechanics which may increase the levels of biomechanical risk in elderly falls.

PURPOSES : The methods of measuring the sound from the noise source are Pass-by method and NCPX (Noble Close Proximity) method. These measuring methods were used to determine the linkage of TAPL (Total Acoustic Pressure Level) and SPL (Sound Pressure Level) in terms of frequencies. METHODS : The frequency analysis methods are DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform) and FFT (Fast Fourier Transform), CPB (Constant Percentage Bandwidth). The CPB analysis was used in this study, based on the 1/3 octave band option configured for the frequency analysis. Furthermore, the regression analysis was used at the condition related to the sound attenuation effect. The MPE (Mean Percentage Error) and RMSE (Root Mean Squared Error) were utilized for calculating the error. RESULTS : From the results of the CPB frequency analysis, the predicted SPL along the frequency has 99.1% maximum precision with the measured SPL, resulting in roughly 1 dB(A) error. The TAPL results have precision by 99.37% with the measured TAPL. The predicted TAPL results at this study by using the SPL prediction model along the frequency have the maximum precision of 98.37% with the vehicle velocity. CONCLUSIONS : The Predicted SPL model along the frequency and the TAPL result by using the predicted SPL model have a high level of accuracy through this study. But the vehicle velocity-TAPL prediction model from the previous study by using the log regression analysis cannot be consistent with the TAPL result by using the predicted SPL model.
