Service Life Prediction of Rubber Bushing for Tracked Vehicles

  • Service life prediction and evaluation of rubber components is the foundational technology necessary for securing the safety and reliability of the product and to ensure an optimum design. Even though the domestic industry has recognized the importance thereof, technology for a systematic design and analysis of the same has not yet been established. In order to develop this technology, identifying the fatigue damage parameters that affect service life is imperative. Most anti-vibration rubber components had been damaged by repeated load and aging. Hence, the evaluation of the fatigue characteristics is indispensable. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a method that can predict the service life of rubber components relatively accurately in a short period of time. This method works even in the initial designing stage. We followed the service life prediction procedure of the proposed rubber components. The weak part of the rubber and the maximum strain were analyzed using finite element analysis of the rubber bushing for the tracked vehicles. In order to predict the service life of the rubber components that were in storage for a certain period of time, the fatigue test was performed on the three-dimensional dumbbell specimen, based on the results obtained by the rubber material acceleration test. The service life formula of the rubber bushing for tracked vehicles was derived using both finite element analysis and the fatigue test. The service life of the rubber bushing for tracked vehicles was estimated to be about 1.7 million cycles at room temperature (initial stage) and about 400,000 cycles when kept in storage for 3 years. Through this paper, the service life for various rubber parts is expected be predicted and evaluated. This will contribute to improving the durability and reliability of rubber components.

  • The recent efforts in academia and industry represent a paradigm shift that will extend the IoT from the home environment so that it is interoperable with the Internet of Vehicles (IoV). IoV is a special kind of IoT. It allows to connect between vehicle and things located in infrastructure. Furthermore, IoV enable to create new intelligent services through collaboration with existing various services such as smart city and connected home. In this paper, we develop a service in order to realize IoV. To this end, we design a novel vehicle service platform which could automatical controlling the IoT device according to drivers' voice. To show practical usability of our proposed platform, we develop a prototype service could be call car-to-thing (C2T). We expect that our proposed platform could eventually contribute to realizing IoV.

  • We provide trends on postal vehicles owned and operated by 10 overseas postal agencies, USPS, Postes Canada, Royal Mail, La Poste, Deutsche Post DHL, PostNL, Australia Post, China Post, Japan Post, and Thailand Post. This will be a useful asset to look into how the posts worldwide operate and manages their postal vehicles and service strategies. In this study, we provide the simple specifications of vehicles operated by each post, how to replace vehicles, how to service maintenance and repair, and modes of pick-up & delivery to be introduced soon. We expect this study to present appropriate policy implications for both postal agencies and logistics companies that are facing a major turning point in logistics to operate and evolve the delivery vehicles.

Cooperation-Aware VANET Clouds: Providing Secure Cloud Services to Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

  • Over the last couple of years, traditional VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc NETwork) evolved into VANET-based clouds. From the VANET standpoint, applications became richer by virtue of the boom in automotive telematics and infotainment technologies. Nevertheless, the research community and industries are concerned about the under-utilization of rich computation, communication, and storage resources in middle and high-end vehicles. This phenomenon became the driving force for the birth of VANET-based clouds. In this paper, we envision a novel application layer of VANET-based clouds based on the cooperation of the moving cars on the road, called CaaS (Cooperation as a Service). CaaS is divided into TIaaS (Traffic Information as a Service), WaaS (Warning as a Service), and IfaaS (Infotainment as a Service). Note, however, that this work focuses only on TIaaS and WaaS. TIaaS provides vehicular nodes, more precisely subscribers, with the fine-grained traffic information constructed by CDM (Cloud Decision Module) as a result of the cooperation of the vehicles on the roads in the form of mobility vectors. On the other hand, WaaS provides subscribers with potential warning messages in case of hazard situations on the road. Communication between the cloud infrastructure and the vehicles is done through GTs (Gateway Terminals), whereas GTs are physically realized through RSUs (Road-Side Units) and vehicles with 4G Internet access. These GTs forward the coarse-grained cooperation from vehicles to cloud and fine-grained traffic information and warnings from cloud to vehicles (subscribers) in a secure, privacy-aware fashion. In our proposed scheme, privacy is conditionally preserved wherein the location and the identity of the cooperators are preserved by leveraging the modified location-based encryption and, in case of any dispute, the node is subject to revocation. To the best of our knowledge, our proposed scheme is the first effort to offshore the extended traffic view construction function and warning messages dissemination function to the cloud.

A Study of Servitization Strategy for Electric Vehicles

  • Purpose - This study proposes a framework for service innovation strategy to cope with the emergence of electric vehicles. Research design, data, and methodology - This study designs an electric-vehicle lease program and collects the resulting data to analyze. By analyzing the previous studies on the electric-vehicle market with cases, a theoretical framework based on existing theories is to be set. Results - This study proposes a strategy for the rapid diffusion of electric vehicles. First, a partitioned-pricing system is proposed to create an advantage for electric vehicles in terms of initial purchasing cost relative to traditional internal combustion vehicles. Second, focusing on reducing switching costs is important because electric vehicles have relatively low resale values due to the uncertainty of battery life. Third, a battery-leasing strategy is supposed to reduce the cost of switching from a traditional internal combustion vehicle to an electric vehicle. Conclusions - This paper can provide strategic guidance for decision makers in firms that have already entered the electric-vehicle leasing market by making a recommendation such as a service innovation strategy. The proposed strategy can be considered as an electric vehicle market in the future and can contribute to the wider diffusion of electric vehicles.

  • In this paper, we develop a planning system for the routing and scheduling of vehicles in pickup and delivery service such as door-to-door parcel service. Efficient routing and scheduling of vehicles is very important in pickup and delivery service. The routing and scheduling problem is a variation of vehicle routing problem which has various realistic constraints. We develop a heuristic algorithm based on tabu search to solve the routing and scheduling problem. We develop a routing and scheduling system installed the algorithm as a planning engine. The system manage the basic data and uses GIS data to make a realistic route plan.

대형 경유자동차 배출가스 검사방법 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on Emission Inspection Method Improvement of Heavy-duty Diesel Vehicles)

  • The method of emission inspection for Heavy-duty diesel vehicles has been engine speed type Lug-down 3mode. This method could bring damage to decrepit vehicles under high speed and high load condition and it could not apply the driving pattern on the road. For these reasons, this study has started to create new emission inspection which is appropriate for Korea's road infrastructure. KD 147 would be applied to light-duty diesel vehicles from july 2010 after model operations. Therefore, this study has investigated new emission inspection system for heavy-duty diesel vehicles, except for light-duty diesel vehicles. In consideration of domestic conditions to meet the new load test method in this study, the Lug-down3 mode vehicle speed method was developed for the first time in korea.

  • Recently, people have been interested in new intelligent transport system (ITS) architecture, so that vehicular networks are becoming an attractive research area. When vehicles try to access data through a roadside unit (RSU), data scheduling of RSU needs to improve service ratio due to limited bandwidth and service time. In this paper, we propose a service scheduling algorithm based on transmission delays and service deadlines of vehicles in order to improve the service ratio. In our algorithm, we assume the promiscuous operation of wireless nodes and it can make a single transmission of RSU serve multiple requests. We evaluated the performance of our scheme via simulations, and results show that our schemes have better performance than existing algorithms.

최적의 전기자동차 라우팅 알고리즘 제안 및 시뮬레이션 (Proposal and Simulation of Optimal Electric Vehicle Routing Algorithm)

  • Scheduling of electric vehicles and optimizing for charging waiting time have been critical. Meanwhile, it is challengeable to exploit the fluctuating data from electric vehicles in real-time. We introduce an optimal routing algorithm and a simulator with electric vehicles obeying the Poisson distribution of the observed information about time, space and energy-demand. Electric vehicle routing is updated in every cycle even it is already set. Also, we suggest an electric vehicle routing algorithm for minimizing total trip time, considering a threshold of the waiting time. Total trip time and charging waiting time are decreased 34.3% and 86.4% respectively, compared to the previous algorithm. It can be applied to the information service of charging stations and utilized as a reservation service.

  • 최근 무인이동체를 활용한 서비스 수요가 다양해지고 무인이동체 서비스 시장의 규모가 급격하게 증가하고 있다. 특히 산불 진압, 우편 배송, 시설 관리 등 공공임무 분야에서의 무인이동체 활용 서비스 요구도가 높아지고 있다. 이러한 요구도의 증가와 함께 무인이동체 기반의 다양한 임무 수행을 지원하기 위한 무인이동체 탑재용 임무소프트웨어 개발의 중요도가 갈수록 높아지고 있는 추세이다. 공통화 된 임무소프트웨어 개발을 위해서는 다양한 공공기관에서 공통적으로 필요한 임무 분석을 통해 재사용 가능한 기능들을 라이브러리로 개발하고, 이를 활용하여 무인이동체 관련 기업들이 쉽게 임무소프트웨어를 개발할 수 있도록 구조 설계가 이루어져야 한다. 본 논문에서는 공공임무용 무인이동체 전용 임무소프트웨어 연구 동향에 대해서 언급하고, 소프트웨어 개발을 위한 정형화된 임무소프트웨어의 구조 설계를 제안한다. 마지막으로, 임무소프트웨어와 데이터 플랫폼 간 데이터 전송 아키텍처를 제안한다.
