Purpose: Diaphragmatic rupture following trauma is often an associated and missed injury. This report is about our experience with treating traumatic diaphragmatic rupture (TDR). Methods: From January 2007 to September 2012, 18 patients who had a diaphragmatic rupture due to blunt trauma or penetrating injury underwent an operation for diaphragmatic rupture at our hospital. We retrospectively reviewed their medical records, including demographic factors, initial vital signs, associated injuries, interval between trauma and diagnosis, injured side of the diaphragm, diagnostic tools, surgical method or approaches, operative time, herniated organs, complications, and mortality. Results: The average age of the patients was 43 years, and 16 patients were male. Causes of trauma included motor vehicle crashes (n=7), falls (n=7), and stab wounds (n=5). The TDR was right-sided in 6 patients and left-sided in 12. The diagnosis was made by using a chest X-ray (n=3), and thorax or upper abdominal computed tomography (n=15). Ten(10) patients were diagnosed within 12 hours. A thoracotomy was performed in 8 patients, a video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery in 4 patients, a laparotomy in 3 patients, and a sternotomy in one patient. Herniated organs were the omentum (n=11), stomach (n=8), spleen and colon (n=6), and liver (n=6). Eighteen diaphragmatic injuries were repaired primarily. Seven patients underwent ventilator care, and two of them had pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome. There were no operative mortalities. Conclusion: Early diagnosis and surgical treatment determine the successful management of TDR with or without the herniation of abdominal organs. The surgical approach to TDR is chosen based on accompanying organ injuries and the injured side.
It has been known that bus route and company related characteristics have influences on punctuality, but fewer research have been conducted. Independent variables used in this study were selected using correlation analysis, and OLS(Ordinary Least Square) and HLM(Hierarchical Linear Model) were employed to identify factors affecting bus punctuality(headway deviation). The results showed that ICC(intraclass Correlation Coefficient) is 0.10, indicating that hierarchical linear models are more adequate for these data because there is effective variation in the subjects between companies. Punctuality was found to be negatively associated with the number of vehicles, the number of persons per vehicle, and total travel time. On the other hand, average headway and company size have a positive relationship with punctuality. Therefore, the number of vehicles per route, average headway, and the number of vehicles managed by a company should be considered for more accurately evaluating the management of piunctuality.
In order to investigate the protective effect of Samduhaejungtang-gamibang on the liver injury of rats induced by $CCl_4$ and d-galactosamine, the serum transaminase(GOT& GPT) alkaline phosphatase(ALP), lactic dehydrogenase(LDH) for enzyme activities and triglyceride, total bilirubin amounts for serum component were measured. All animals were divided into 4 groups, those were normal group(untreated), control group(treated with vehicle 0.9% Saline solution), sample Ⅰ group(1500mg/kg administrated), sample Ⅱ group(3000mg/kg administrated). The results were as follows: 1. The inhibitory effects of the serum GOT activities in rats induced by $CCl_4$ were noted in sample Ⅱ group(p<0.01). In serum GPT activities, sample Ⅱ group(p<0.05) only showed the inhibitory effects. 2. The inhibitory effects of the serum ALP activities in rats induced by $CCl_4$ were noted in sample Ⅱ group(p<0.01) 3. The inhibitory effects of the serum LPH activities in rats induced by $CCl_4$ were noted in sample Ⅱ group, but it is not recognized statistically. 4. The increases effects of the serum triglyceride content level in rats induced by $CCl_4$ were inhibited in both sample Ⅰ group(p<0.05) and sample Ⅱ group(p<0.01) 5. The increases effects of the serum total bilirubin content level in rats induced by $CCl_4$ were inhibited in sample Ⅱ group(p<0.05) 6. The inhibitory effects of the serum GOT, GPT activities in rats induced by d-galactosamine were noted in sample Ⅱ group (p<0.001), but sample Ⅰ group was not recognized. 7. The signiticantly inhibitory effects of in the serum LDH activities in rats induced by d-galactosamine were noted in both sample Ⅰ group(p<0.05) and sample Ⅱ group (p<0.001) 8. The increases of the serum ALP content level in rats induced by d-galactosamine were inhibited in sample Ⅱ group(p<0.05) 9. The increases of the serum total bilirubin content level in rats induced d-galactosamine were inhibited in sample Ⅱgroup(p<0.05) According to the above results, it is considered that Samduhaejungtang-gamibang has protective effect against liver injury in rats induced by $CCl_4$ and d-galactosamine. So it is required to study about the actions of mutual relation of medicines and patho-mechanism by experiment.
PURPOSES : This study presents the noise level and frequency characteristics investigated in the national highways with the consideration of various measuring conditions and/or methods. METHODS : The noise levels on the asphalt concrete pavement(ACP) and the jointed plain concrete pavement(JPCP) of the national highway were measured and analysed with respect to three variables, i.e., pavement type, surface condition, and measurement distance. The PASS-By method is utilized for the noise measurement and then using CPB spectrum analysis method with 1/3 octave bandwidth, the noise levels and frequency characteristics were calculated for two-second periods before and after the peak noise. RESULTS : Depending on the pavement type, the noise level was changed as the average noise levels are 73.3dB(A) and 78.3dB(A) for ACP and JPCP, respectively. With respect to the effect of surface condition, the average noise levels for crack H(high), M(medium), and L (low) sections are 77.4dB(A), 77.4dB(A), and 78.1dB(A), respectively. Regarding the measurement distance, 1.2meter difference in measuring location reduces 1.6dB(A) of noise level; the average noise levels at 5.3m and 7.5m from the centerline of outer lane are 72.8dB(A) and 71.2dB(A), respectively. It should be noted that the noise levels are slightly different as a function of vehicle speed and type. However, the overall trends for each case was similar. It was found that the domain frequency bands for ACP and JPCP were 400Hz~2000Hz and 500Hz~2000Hz, respectively. CONCLUSIONS : Based on the analysis with the measured noise date from national highway, it was concluded that the noise level and frequency band vary depending on the various conditions. It was also found that some variables significantly affect the noise level while others do not. With further systematic investigation, the comprehensive noise characteristics on the national highway can be achieved. Using such database, it is possible to develop the fundamental noise reduction technology.
Recently the demand for drones is rapidly increasing, as developing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and growing interest in them. Compared to traditional satellite and aerial imagery, it can be used for various researches (environment, geographic information, ocean observation, and remote sensing) because it can be managed with low operating costs and effective data acquisition. However, there is a disadvantage in that only a small area is acquired compared to the satellite and an aircraft, which is a traditional remote sensing method, depending on the battery capacity of the UAV, and the distance limit between Ground Control System (GCS) and UAV. If remote control at long range is possible, the possibility of using UAV in the field of remote sensing can be increased. Therefore, there is a need for a communication network system capable of controlling regardless of the distance between the UAV and the GCS. The distance between UAV and GCS can be transmitted and received using simple radio devices (RF 2.4 GHz, 915 MHz, 433 MHz), which is limited to around 2 km. If the UAV can be managed simultaneously by improving the operating environment of the UAV using a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) communication network, it can make greater effects by converging with the existing industries. In this study, we performed the maximum straight-line distance 6.1 km, the test area 2.2 ㎢, and the total flight distance 41.75 km based on GCS through LTE communication. In addition, we analyzed the possibility of disconnected communication through the base station of LTE communication.

Vectorization is currently the main method in feature collection (extraction) during digital mapping using UAV-Photogrammetry. However, this method is time consuming and prone to gross elevation errors when extracted from a DSM (Digital Surface Model), because three-dimensional feature coordinates are vectorized separately: plane information from an orthophoto and height from a DSM. Consequently, the demand for stereo plotting method capable of acquiring three- dimensional spatial information simultaneously is increasing. However, this method requires an expensive equipment, a Digital Photogrammetry Workstation (DPW), and the technology itself is still incomplete. In this paper, we evaluated the accuracy of low-cost stereo plotting system, Menci's StereoCAD, by analyzing its three-dimensional spatial information acquisition. Images were taken with a FC 6310 camera mounted on a Phantom4 pro at a 90 m altitude with a Ground Sample Distance (GSD) of 3 cm. The accuracy analysis was performed by comparing differences in coordinates between the results from the ground survey and the stereo plotting at check points, and also at the corner points by layers. The results showed that the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) at check points was 0.048 m for horizontal and 0.078 m for vertical coordinates, respectively, and for different layers, it ranged from 0.104 m to 0.127 m for horizontal and 0.086 m to 0.092 m for vertical coordinates, respectively. In conclusion, the results showed 1: 1,000 digital topographic map can be generated using a stereo plotting system with UAV images.

This study was conducted to investigate the biological activity and hepatoprotective effect of DWP-04 [DDB : selenium yeast: glutathione (31.1 : 6.8 : 62.1(w/w/w)] in D-galactosamine (GaIN) intoxicated rats. The DWP-04 (50, 100 or 200 mg/kg) or its vehicle was orally administered everyday before the start of GaIN injection (400 mg/kg, ip) for two weeks and animal decapitated for 24 hrs after GaINinjected. The activities of serum enzymes, markers of liver function, were increased in the GaIN group compared to normal group and significantly lowered in the DWP-04 pretreated group than in the GaIN group. Hepatic lipid peroxide level and activities of phase 1 enzymes were significantly higher than those of GaIN group compared to normal group and lower in the DWP-04 pretreated group than in the GaIN group, and phase II enzyme activities in liver were lower in the GaIN group than in the normal group and were increased in the DWP-04 pretreated group than in the GaIN group. Total hepatic glutathione content and glutathione biosynthesis enzymes were lower in the GaIN group than in the normal group and were increased in the DWP-04 pretreated group than in the GaIN group. Therefore, the current results indicated that DWP-04 administration alleviated the GaIN-induced adverse effect through enhancing the antioxidant enzyme activities.
This study was carried out to investigate the protective effect of crude saponin from red ginseng efflux (RGE-CS) on biochemical parameters in male rats acutely exposed to 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-$\rho$-dioxin (TCDD). Forty male rats ($200{\pm}20g$) were divided into 4 groups. Normal control group (NC) received vehicle and saline; only TCDD-treated group (TT) received TCDD ($5{\mu}g/kg$, single dose) intrperitoneally; RGE-CS 20 received 20 mg/kg of crude saponin i.p. for 4 weeks from 1 week before TCDD-exposure; RGE-CS 40 also received 40 mg/kg of crude saponin i.p. for 4 weeks from 1 week before TCDD-exposure. Body weight of TT group was significantly decreased after TCDD-exposure. However, body weight of crude saponin groups increased throughout the experimental period, although the increasing rate was slower than that of NC group. Decrease in body weight was not observed during the experimental period in RGE-CS 40. Increases in triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), AST, ALT and $Fe^{2+}$ levels by TCDD intoxication were significantly attenuated by the RGE-CS treatment. Decrease in glucose, amylase, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and creatinine kinase (CK) by TCDD also were inhibited by the RGE-CS. These results suggest that saponin from red-ginseng efflux might be a useful protective agent against TCDD, an endocrine disrupter.
This paper presents the battle space model, which is capable of propagating various types of emissions from platforms in underwater warfare simulation, predicting interesting encounters between pairs of platforms, and managing environmental information. The battle space model has four components: the logger, spatial encounter predictor (SEP), propagator, and geographic information system (GIS) models. The logger model stores brief data on all the platforms in the simulation, and the GIS model stores and updates environmental factors such as temperature and current speed. The SEP model infers an encounter among the platforms in the simulation, and progresses the simulation to the time when this encounter will happen. The propagator model receives various emissions from platforms and propagates these to other "within-range" platforms by considering the propagation losses and delays. The battle space model is based on the discrete event system specification (DEVS) and the discrete time system specification (DTSS) formalisms. To verify the battle space model, simple underwater warfare between a battleship and a submarine was simulated. The simulation results with the model were the same as the simulation results without the model.
An airborne sensor is developed for remote sensing on an aerial vehicle (UV). The sensor is an optical payload for an eletro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) dual band camera that combines visible and IR imaging capabilities in a compact and lightweight package. It adopts a Ritchey-Chr$\'{e}$tien telescope for the common front end optics with several relay optics that divide and deliver EO and IR bands to a charge-coupled-device (CCD) and an IR detector, respectively. The EO/IR camera for dual bands is mounted on a two-axis gimbal that provides stabilized imaging and precision pointing in both the along and cross-track directions. We first investigate the mechanical deformations, displacements and stress of the EO/IR camera through finite element analysis (FEA) for five cases: three gravitational effects and two thermal conditions. For investigating gravitational effects, one gravitational acceleration (1 g) is given along each of the +x, +y and +z directions. The two thermal conditions are the overall temperature change to $30^{\circ}C$ from $20^{\circ}C$ and the temperature gradient across the primary mirror pupil from $-5^{\circ}C$ to $+5^{\circ}C$. Optical performance, represented by the modulation transfer function (MTF), is then predicted by integrating the FEA results into optics design/analysis software. This analysis shows the IR channel can sustain imaging performance as good as designed, i.e., MTF 38% at 13 line-pairs-per-mm (lpm), with refocus capability. Similarly, the EO channel can keep the designed performance (MTF 73% at 27.3 lpm) except in the case of the overall temperature change, in which the EO channel experiences slight performance degradation (MTF 16% drop) for $20^{\circ}C$ overall temperate change.
