A Study on Temperature Field and Contact Pressure in Ventilated Disc-Pad Brake by 3D Thermo-mechanical Coupling Model (3차원 열-기계 커플링 모델에 의한 벤틸레이티드 디스크-패드 브레이크의 온도 분포와 접촉 압력에 관한 연구)

  • The brake system is important part of automobile safety system. The disc brake system is divided two parts: the rotating axisymmetrical disc and the stationary pads. During braking, the kinetic energy and potential energy of moving vehicle were converted into the thermal energy through frictional heat between the brake disc and the pads. The frictional heat, which is generated on the interface of the disc and pads, can cause high temperature during the braking process. The object of present work is to determine temperature and thermal stress, to compare to simulation results and experimental results in the disc by partial 3D model of ventilated disc brake with appropriate boundary conditions. In the simulation process, the mechanical loads were applied to the thermo-mechanical coupling analysis in order to simulate the process of heat produced by friction.

A Transformation from POSIX Based Source Code to OSEK/VDX Source Code Based on API and OIL Translation (API 및 OIL 변환을 이용한 POSIX 기반 코드의 OSEK/VDX 코드로의 변환)

  • In this paper, we present a transformation method of source code from a POSIX (Portable Operating System Interface) based source code into an OSEK/VDX (Offene Systeme und deren Schnittstellen fur die Elektronik in Kraftfahrzeugen/Vehicle Distributed eXecutive) source code. As the electronic parts of automobile systems increase, the use of embedded software in automobile systems is also growing. Accordingly, many electronic systems are designed in automobile system with OSEK/VDX. Otherwise, one of the major problems of embedded software would be portability to other OS's. To enhance the portability and interoperability of embedded software, we propose a source code transformation method from POSIX to OSEK/VDX based on API (Application Programming Interface) translation method. Considering the characteristics of the OSEK/VDX which uses OIL (OSEK/VDX Implementation Language) standard, transformation process is performed with source code transformation and OIL code generation. For the validity of the proposed method, the transformation experiment is given using Micro-C OS II and OSEK/VDX with XC167CI micro-controller.

  • The Composite materials has been used in the field of high technology industry because of high specific stiffness and high specific strength. Specially, the composite materials has been widely applied to the field of the aircraft and the transportation by the effectiveness of light weight due to low specific weight and reduction of the parts due to bonding, molding and so on. These advantages about the composite have led to study and apply in the transmission shaft for the aircraft and the drive shaft for the automobile. The composite material propeller shaft with the high vibrational stability was designed and analyzed. In order to verify the analysis, two types of experimental test which are the FFT analyzer with impact hammer and the rotational equipment were applied.

A Study on the Torque Characteristics of Rotary Dampers (로터리 댐퍼의 토오크 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Rotary dampers are damping devices which provide high resistance to shaft rotation. Rotary dampers are being used in various areas to enable the gentle opening and closing of the rotation motion relative to home furniture, industry machinery and automotive parts. Rotary dampers can be installed directly at the rotating point of a various part and can achieve uniform, gentle movement which increases quality and value of products. And generally, the silicone fluid is used as the damping medium because of its stable viscous properties. The movement of these little decelerators can be achieved with a high viscosity of working fluid and throttles installed in the body of the rotary damper. The damping force can be achieved clockwise, anti-clockwise or in both directions according to the structure of the orifices or throttles. In this paper, the torque performances of the rotary damper containing air in the working fluid were studied. For this purpose, the torque characteristic of the rotary damper according to the variation of various operating conditions such as clearance of leakage, dimensions of groove orifice, content ratio of air, etc., were simulated with AMEsim software.

Real-Time Simulation of an Excavator Considering the Functional Valves of the MCV (MCV의 기능밸브를 고려한 굴삭기의 실시간 시뮬레이션)

  • In this paper, a real-time simulation model of an excavator using Amesim was proposed, considered the operation of functional valves with the main control valve (MCV). The hydraulic system models including the pump and MCV have been developed. The kinematic and dynamic models of the manipulator have also been developed, to confirm the behavior of the excavator. The MCV model includes various functional valves such as the regenerative valves, holding valves, swing and boom priority valves, and regen-cut valves so that simulations similar to real excavators can be performed. Additionally, to obtain the real-time calculation performance, the parts with no major influence on the dynamic behavior were simplified, high frequency factors were removed, and parameters were optimized. The models were compared with each other through the numerical analysis with variable time-step and fixed time-step, and the results were verified by comparison with the results of the actual vehicle tests.

Effect of Cast Microstructure on Fatigue Behaviors of A356 Aluminum Alloy for Automotive Wheel (자동차휠용 A356 알루미늄 합금의 주조조직이 피로특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently, automotive industry is attempting to replace steels for automotive parts with light-weight alloys such as aluminum alloy, because of the growing environmental regulations governing exhaust gas and the engine effectiveness of a vehicle. The low cycle fatigue (LCF) and high cycle fatigue (HCF) properties as well as the microstructure and tensile property were investigated on the low pressure cast A356 aluminum alloy wheel, which was followed by T6 heat treatment. The cast microstructure of the alloy influenced significantly on the low cycle and high cycle fatigue behaviors. The rim part of cast aluminum alloy wheel showed higher low cycle and high cycle fatigue strength compared with the spoke part, which should be caused by higher cooling rate of rim part. The spoke part of the wheel showed coarser dendrite arm spacing (DAS) and wide eutectic zone in the microstructure, which resulted in the partial brittle fracture and lower fatigue life time.

  • Press machine has advantages over other manufacturing machine which can produce large quantities of products in short time so it is widely used in lots of industrial sectors. To obtain the vehicle's weight lightening and rigidity of the body-frame by applying 'Hot stamping' technique is increasing in the automotive field. In this paper, to improve the irregular vibration arose by 800Ton hot stamping press, the research was continued. Bed, slide and main frame are the key part of working precision, so perform structural analysis was conducted, and based on the analyzing results, structural changes were done on the parts where structural deformation occurred.

Safety Evaluation Based on Structural Analysis of Cylinder Valves for Fuel Cell Vehicles (구조해석을 이용한 수소 연료전지 자동차 압력용기 밸브의 안전성 평가)

  • Green vehicles include electric vehicles, natural gas vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles (FCVs). In FCVs, pressure vessels have cylinder valves to control hydrogen flow. These valves should be of high quality in terms of safety because hydrogen is stored at ultra-high pressure in pressure vessels. Hence, safety evaluation of these valves is necessary to secure the safety of the FCV. A structural analysis of the cylinder valve was conducted in this study by using a commercial finite element analysis code. The results showed that the safety factor of valve component ranged 1.06-186.44. After categorizing, the stress components at critical points of the cylinder valve parts were evaluated using the corresponding allowable design criteria in the ASME code. The pressurization cycle test was performed as per the regulation to evaluate the safety of the valve.

  • A design process for the structure-borne noise in a passenger vehicle is presented. The proposed process is improved from the previous one. The major difference between the current and last ones is that most of the countermeasures should be developed before fixing a tool for structural parts. This is requested for QCDP(Quality, Cost, Delivery and Productivity) by the design engineers. The proposed one consists of 4 steps: Problem definition, Cause analysis, Development of counter-measure and Validation. Based on the general rule: divide and conquer, the complex problem can be simplified into a few critical sub-systems through the first step: Problem definition. Secondly, the critical causes can be identified for the critical sub-systems through the second step: Cause analysis. Thirdly, effective countermeasures are investigated and produced through the third step: Countermeasure development. The proposed countermeasures are finally validated in the forth step: Validation.

  • In this paper, the result of the conceptual study of a tipjet driven propulsion system is presented. The concept of a tipjet driven propulsion system is to employ tipjet as power source to drive a rotor Because the vehicle is supposed to takeoff and land vertically, a rotor system, which has tipjet nozzles, is adopted to fly like a helicopter. Exhaust gas, which is generated by an engine, Passes through an internal duct system and divided into four blade ducts. The design code is consists of two parts, engine model and internal duct model. Inside a rotating duct, compressible flow is affected by two additional force terms, centrifugal force and coriolis force and they govern the performance in rotary mode, The intention of this paper is to address the issues associated with sizing and optimizing configurations of a tipjet driven propulsion system especially in rotary wing mode.
