Autonomous driving technology is divided into 0~5 levels. Of these, Level 5 is a fully autonomous vehicle that does not require a person to drive at all. The automobile industry has been trying to develop Level 5 to satisfy safety, but commercialization has not yet been achieved. In order to commercialize autonomous unmanned vehicles, there are several problems to be solved for driving safety. To solve one of these, this paper proposes 'A Deep Learning Part-diagnosis Platform(DLPP) based on an In-vehicle On-board gateway for an Autonomous Vehicle' that diagnoses not only the parts of a vehicle and the sensors belonging to the parts, but also the influence upon other parts when a certain fault happens. The DLPP consists of an In-vehicle On-board gateway(IOG) and a Part Self-diagnosis Module(PSM). Though an existing vehicle gateway was used for the translation of messages happening in a vehicle, the IOG not only has the translation function of an existing gateway but also judges whether a fault happened in a sensor or parts by using a Loopback. The payloads which are used to judge a sensor as normal in the IOG is transferred to the PSM for self-diagnosis. The Part Self-diagnosis Module(PSM) diagnoses parts itself by using the payloads transferred from the IOG. Because the PSM is designed based on an LSTM algorithm, it diagnoses a vehicle's fault by considering the correlation between previous diagnosis result and current measured parts data.
This is a paper intended for initial stage of vehicle modeling and design. The needs to determine a variety of vehicle suspension parameters required for initial design has been difficult and time-consuming task. In order to facilitate a concise and efficient presentation of initial vehicle design procedure, this paper uses a mathematical model and physical geometry. Vehicle model consists of dimensions, inertias and mechanical constants. These vehicle model parameters divided into several categories : basic parameters, coefficients and constants, design specification, spring and damper, bush stiffness, stabilizer bar, suspension geometry, tire, and vehicle weights of various design condition. This paper uses a vehicle design fundamental (VDF) program running under Windows 95 graphical interface. The features of VDF will be briefly outlined in this paper.
This paper describes a vehicle driving-load estimation method for application to vehicle Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC). Vehicle driving-load consists of aerodynamic force, rolling resistance, and gravitational force due to road slope and is unknown disturbance in a vehicle dynamic model. The vehicle driving-load has been estimated from engine and wheel speed measurements using a vehicle dynamic model a least square method. The estimated driving-load has been used in the adaptation of throttle/brake control law. The performance of the control law has been investigated via both simulation and vehicle tests. The simulation and test results show that the proposed control law can provide satisfactory vehicle-to-vehicle distance control performance for various driving situations.
Steering characteristics is an important factor in the evaluation of vehicle quality. To estimate steering characteristics in the vehicle conceptual design stage, vehicle dynamics simulation methods are very efficient. However, it is often difficult to simulate vehicle dynamics for the specific driving scenarios in open-loop driving environment. An efficient driver-in-the-loop vehicle model will be efficient for this job. A good tire model is also very important for the accurate vehicle dynamics simulation. In this research, a driver model is used to simulate vehicle steering dynamics for a 8-dof vehicle model with STI(Systems Technology, Inc.) tire model. For the demonstration of this model, a SUV(sports utility vehicle) and a sedan were simulated.
This paper, the integration of driving simulator and unmanned vehicle by means of new concept for better performance through a tele-operated system is suggested. But autonomous system is one of the most difficult research topics from the point of view of several constrains on mobility, speed of vehicle and lack of environmental information. In these days, however, many innovations on the vehicle provide the appropriate automatic control in vehicle subsystem for reducing human error. This tendency is toward to the unmanned vehicle or the tele-operated vehicle ultimately. This paper describes the motion system ...

An efficient heuristic for two-vehicle-one-depot problems is developed in this research. Vehicle moving speeds are various along hour based time intervals due to traffic jams of rush hours. Two different heuristics are examined. One is that the delivery area assignment is made using Sweep algorithm for two vehicles by splitting the whole area in half to equally divide all delivery points. The other is using common area by leaving unassigned area between the assigned for two vehicles. The common area is reassigned by two stages to balance the completion time of two vehicle's delivery. The heuristic with common area performed better than the other due to various vehicle moving speeds and traffic jams.
The structural integrity of either a passenger car or a light truck is one of the basic requirements for a full vehicle engineering and development program. The results of the vehicle product performance are measured in terms of ride and handling, durability, Noise/Vibration/Harshness (NVH), crashworthiness, and occupant safety. The level of performance of a vehicle directly affects the marketability, profitability and, most importantly, the future of the automobile manufacturer. In this study, the Virtual Proving Ground (VPG) approach has been developed to simulate dynamic nonlinear events as applied to automotive ride & handling. The finite element analysis technique provides a unique method to create and analyze vehicle system models, capable of including vehicle suspensions, powertrains, and body structures in a single simulation. Through the development of this methodology, event-based simulations of vehicle performance over a given three-dimensional road surface can be performed. To verify the predicted dynamic results, a single lane change test was performed. The predicted results were compared with the experimental test results, and the feasibility of the integrated CAE analysis methodology was verified.
The goal of this research is developing advanced lane detecting algorithm for unmanned vehicle. Previous lane detecting method to bring on error become of the lane loss and noise. Therefore, new algorithm developed to get exact information of lane. This algorithm can be used to AGV(Autonomous Guide Vehicle) and LSWS(Lane Departure Warning System), ACC(Adapted Cruise Control). We used 1/10 scale RC car to embody developed algorithm. A CCD camera is installed on top of vehicle. Images are transmitted to a main computer though wireless video transmitter. A main computer finds information of lane in road image. And it calculates control value of vehicle and transmit these to vehicle. This algorithm can detect in input image marked by 256 gray levels to get exact information of lane. To find the driving direction of vehicle, it search line equation by curve fitting of detected pixel. Finally, author used median filtering method to removal of noise and used characteristic part of road image for advanced of processing time.

This paper proposes a new concept of optimal shortest path algorithm which reduce average vehicle wating time and improve average vehicle speed, Electro sensitive traffic system can extend the traffic cycle when three are many vehicles on the road or it can reduce the traffic cycle when there are small vehicles on the road. But electro sensitive traffic light system doesn't control that kind of function when the average vehicle speed is 10km -20km. Therefore, in this paper to reduce vehicle waiting time we developed design of traffic cycle software tool that can arrive destinination as soon as possible using optimal shortest pass algorithm. Computer simulation result proved 10%-32% reducing average vehicle wating time and average vehicle speed which can select shortest route using built in G.P.S. vehicle is better than not being able to select shortest route function.
The absolute longitudinal speed of a vehicle is estimated by using data from an accelerometer of the vehicle and wheel speed sensors of a standard 50-tooth antilock braking system. An intuitive solution to this problem is, 'When wheel slip is low, calculate the vehicle velocity from the wheel speeds; when wheel slip is high, calculate the vehicle speed by integrating signal of the accelerometer.' The speed estimator weighted with fuzzy logic is introduced to implement the above concept, which is formulated as an estimation method. And the method is improved through experiments by how to calculate speed from acceleration signal and slip ratios. It is verified experimentally to usefulness of estimation speed of a vehicle. And the experimental result shows that the estimated vehicle longitudinal speed has only a $6\%$ worst-case error during a hard braking maneuver lasting a few seconds.
