  • In this paper we point out an Ostrowski type inequality for the Riemann-Stieltjes integral ${\int}_a^b$ f (t) du (t), where f is of p-H-$H{\ddot{o}}lder$ type on [a,b], and u is of bounded variation on [a,b]. Applications for the approximation problem of the Riemann-Stieltjes integral in terms of Riemann-Stieltjes sums are also given.

  • A more general version of diffusivity based on total variation of density is defined and an information inequality for median-unbiased estimation is presented. The resulting information inequality can be interpreted as an analogue of the Bhattacharyya system of lower bounds for mean-unbiased estimation. A condition on which the information bound is achieved is also given.

  • An Ostrowski type integral inequality for the Riemann-Stieltjes integral ${\int^b}_a$ f(t) du(t), where f is assumed to be of bounded variation on [a, b] and u is of r - H - $H\"{o}lder$ type on the same interval, is given. Applications to the approximation problem of the Riemann-Stieltjes integral in terms of Riemann-Stieltjes sums are also pointed out.

  • In matrix analysis, the Wielandt-Mirsky conjecture states that $$dist({\sigma}(A),{\sigma}(B)){\leq}{\parallel}A-B{\parallel}$$ for any normal matrices $A,B{\in}{\mathbb{C}}^{n{\times}n}$ and any operator norm ${\parallel}{\cdot}{\parallel}$ on $C^{n{\times}n}$. Here dist(${\sigma}(A),{\sigma}(B)$) denotes the optimal matching distance between the spectra of the matrices A and B. It was proved by A. J. Holbrook (1992) that this conjecture is false in general. However it is true for the Frobenius distance and the Frobenius norm (the Hoffman-Wielandt inequality). The main aim of this paper is to study the Hoffman-Wielandt inequality and some weaker versions of the Wielandt-Mirsky conjecture for matrix polynomials.

  • The Non-Circular Gears is more advantage than other machinery using link and cam in the automation equipment. We designed Non-Circular Gears for a velocity of inequalty rotational equipment according to the variation of pressure angle, radius of curvature etc., and studied about pitch curve.

  • Background: This study investigates the relationship of socioeconomic status with adverse birth outcomes (low birth weight, preterm birth) and the relationship of socioeconomic status with infant mortality, using the birth cohort in Korea, 1995-2010. Methods: 8,648,035 births from National Statistics Offics, 1995-2010 were studied with respect to social variation in adverse birth outcomes and infant mortality in Korea. The effect of social inequality was examined against adverse birth outcomes and infant mortality using multivariate logistic regression after controlling for other covariates. Results: Social inequality were observed in adverse birth outcomes: low birth weight (LBW, 1,500-2,499 g), very LBW (1,000-1,499 g), and extremely LBW (500-999 g) as well as moderately preterm birth (PTB, 33-36 weeks), very PTB (28-32 weeks), extremely PTB (22-27 weeks), and infant mortality. The effect of social inequality was higher among moderately LBW (1,500-2,499 g) and PTB (33-36 weeks) than very or extremely LBW and PTB. Conclusion: The social inequality in adverse birth outcomes (low birth weight and preterm) and infant mortality existed and increased in Korea from 1995 to 2010. The effect of maternal education on adverse birth outcomes as well as infant mortality was apparent in the study results. Especially, social inequailiy in infant mortality was greater among the sub-normal births (low birth weight [1,500-2,499 g] or preterm birth [33-36 weeks]), which suggests, social interventions should aim at more among the subnormal births. This study suggest that tackling inequality in births as well as infant mortality should be focused on the social inequality itself.

  • A proposed incremental model for the solution of a general class of convex programming problems is introduced. The model is an extension of that developed by Mahmoud et al. (1993) which is limited to linear constraints having nonzero free coefficients. In the present model, this limitation is relaxed, and allowed to be zero. The model is extended to accommodate those constraints of zero free coefficients. The proposed model is applied to solve the elasto-static contact problems as a class of variation inequality problems of convex nature. A set of different physical nature verification examples is solved and discussed in this paper.

  • This paper investigates the impact of the effective minimum wage, defined as the log difference between the minimum and the median wages, on wage inequalities in the OECD countries. Unlike the previous studies that focus on single countries in which the minimum wage has no cross-sectional variation and rely instead on within-country variations of wage distribution across regions or socio-economic characteristics, we use a country panel that allows for both cross-sectional and time-series variations in minimum wage. We also control for more factors than in the previous studies whose absence may cause endogeneity. Our results confirm the previous findings that increases in minimum wage alleviate the wage inequality at the lower tail of the wage distribution, while having little effect at the upper tail. The estimated effect is larger for women than for men, which is consistent with the fact that the share of workers who are directly affected by the changes in minimum wage is bigger among women than men. An application of the IVs of Autor, Manning and Smith (2016) supports the robustness of our findings.
