An arteriovenous fistula is artificially produced using a graft for hemodialysis in patients. In an arteriovenous graft (AVG), the angle of its arterial or venous anastomosis play an important role in producing flows inside blood vessels, through which a stenosis may occur. Most studies thus far have focused on CFD results. In this study, a PIV technique is used to analyze the hemodynamic characteristics at the arterial or venous anastomosis of an AVG having an angle of $30^{\circ}C$. For flow dynamic similarity, the Reynolds number is set to be the same for real and simulated flows. A PIV experiment is performed with a control valve in the arterial part. In conclusion, the recirculation flow appeared in the bifurcation area and the total blood velocity changed according to the extent of valve opening.

For the control of pre-burner combustion pressure, the open angle of the TTR (Throttle for Thrust Regulation) valve was varied from $143^{\circ}$ to $185^{\circ}$ while testing cold flow, ignition, and combustion. The major performance variables of rocket engines and hydraulic performance of the TTR valve regarding the open angle were verified. However, the controllability of pre-burner combustion pressure was not verified due to the limitations of the test. Comprehensive research will be done after addressing these problems.

An experiment setup was introduced to study dynamic behaviour of different types of check valves and the effects of air entrainment on the check valve performance under pressure transient condition. The experiment results show that the check valves with low inertia, assisted by springs or small traveling distance/angle gave better performance under pressure transient condition than check valves without these features. Air entrainment was found to affect both wave speed and reverse velocity. With the increase of the initial air void fraction in pipeline, the experiment results show that the wave speed was reduced, the reverse velocity was increased. The first peak pressure increased initially and then decreased with the increase of the initial air void fraction, the pressure surge periods were increased proportionally with air void fraction due to the greatly reduced wave speed. The study can be applied to help choosing suitable check valves for a particular pumping system.

A traction control systems (TCSs) composed of either a wheel slip controller or a throttle valve controller or an integrated controller of both systems are proposed in this study. To validatethe dynamic characteristics of a vehicle and TCS, a full car model that can simulate the responses of both front wheel drive (2WD) and four wheel drive (4WD) vehicle is also developed. The wheel slip controller uses a sliding mode control scheme and the throttle valve is controlled by a PID controller. The results shows that tHe brake TCS and the engine TCS achieve rapid acceleration, and reduce slip angle on slippery road. When a vehicle is cornering and accelerating maneuver with the brake or engine TCS, understeer or oversteer occur, depending on the driving conditions. The integrated TCS prevents most of these problems and improves the stability and controllability of the vehicle.
It is well known that the flow and spray characteristics is critical factor on the performance and emission of a direct injection diesel engine. So this study aims to investigate the interaction of flow and spray characteristics. At first, in cylinder flow distributions in swirl adaptor for 4-valve cylinder head of DI Diesel engine were investigated under steady conditions for different SCV angles mounted on the cylinder head with steady rig test and 2-D LDV. And the in-cylinder flow was quantified in terms of mean flow coefficient and swirl ratio/tumble ratio. It was found that the swirl ratio is controlled between 2.3 and 3.8. Then spray characteristics of the intermittent injection were investigated. PDA system was utilized for measurement of a droplet size and velocity. The analyses of the PDA results are carried out with Time Dividing Method. It was found that there is a correlation between the swirl flow and SMD. The droplet size and the velocity were nearly constant value with each SCV angle. And the swirl ratio is higher, SMD smaller. The swirl ratio was helpful factor to the atomization of droplet.
This paper describes experimental study on the orientation dependence of GM-type pulse tube refrigerator with helium and neon as working gas. A pulse tube refrigerator generates refrigeration work with gas expansion by gas displacer in the pulse tube. The pulse tube is only filled with working gas and there exists secondary flow due to large temperature difference between cold-end and warm-end. The stability of secondary flow is affected by orientation of cold-head and thus cooling performance is deteriorated by gas mixing due to secondary flow. In this study, a single stage GM-type pulse tube with orifice valve as a phase control device is fabricated and tested. The fabricated pulse tube refrigerator is tested with two different working gases of helium and neon. First, optimal valve opening and operating frequency are determined with experimental results of no-load test. And then, the variation of no-load temperature as orientation angle of cold-head is measured for two different working gases. Effect of orientation dependence of cold-head as working gas is discussed with experimental results.

In order to analyse the scavenging efficiency in a poppet valve type 2-stroke engine. visualization of scavenging flow and quantitative experiments for measuring scavenging efficiency were performed. The effect of shroud angle in RSSV which was developed by KIMM was evaluated under steady flow rig applying single-cycle method. Also dynamic simulator was used by using gas sampling with $CO_2$ and $O_2$gas. The $90^circ$ shroud RSSV was found to be the highest efficient system, and single-cycle and dynamic simulator test are very effective to save time and cost for the development of a 2-stroke engine.

A Propulsion System of the CRW(Canard Rotor Wing) type UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) was composed of the turbojet engine to generate the propulsive exhaust gas, and the duct system including straight bent ducts, tip-jet nozzles, a master valve and a variable main nozzle for three flight modes such as lift/landing mode, low speed transition flight mode and high speed forward flight mode. In this study, in order to operate safely the propulsion system, the dynamic Performance behavior of the system was modeled and simulated using the SIMULIN $K^{ }$, which is the user-friendly GUI type dynamic analysis tool provided by MATLA $B^{ }$. In the transient performance model, the inter-component volume model was used. The performance analysis using the developed models was performed at various flight condition, valve angle positions and fuel flow schedules, and these results could set the safe flight mode transition region to satisfy the inlet temperature overshoot limitation as well as the compressor surge margin. Performance analysis results using the SIMULIN $K^{ }$ performance program were compared with them using the commercial program GSP.m GSP.
The pinning direction, the spin flop behaviors and the magnetoresistive properties in top synthetic spin valve structure [NiFe/CoFe/Cu/CoFe (t$_{p2}$)/Ru/CoFe (t$_{p1}$)/IrMn] were investigated. The magnetoresistive and pinning characteristics of synthetic spin valves strongly depended on the differences in the two pinning layer thickness, ${\Delta}t(=t_{p2}-t_{p1})$. In contrast to the conventional spin valves, the pinning direction (P1) was canted off with respect to the growth field axis with ${\Delta}t$. We found that the canting angle ${\Phi}$ had different values according to the annealing field direction and ${\Delta}t$. When the samples were annealed at above the blocking temperature of IrMn with zero fields, the canted pinned layer could be set along the growth field axis. Because the easy axis which was induced by the growth field during deposition is still active in all ferromagnetic layers except the IrMn at $250{^{\circ}C}$, the pinning direction could be aligned along the growth field axis, even in 0 field annealing.
Flow and spray characteristics are critical factors that affect the performance and exhaust emissions of a direct injection diesel engine. It is well known that the swirl control system is one of the useful ways to improve the fuel consumption and emission reduction rate in a diesel engine. However, until now there have only been a few studies on the effect of flow on spray. Because of this, the relationship between the flow pattern in the cylinder and its influence on the behavior of the spray is in need of investigation. First, in-cylinder flow distributions for 4-valve cylinder head of DI (Direct Injection) Diesel engine were investigated under steady-state conditions for different SCV (Swirl Control Valve) opening angles using a steady flow rig and 2-D LDV (Laser Doppler Velocimetry). It was found that swirl flow was more dominant than that of tumble in the experimented engine. In addition, the in-cylinder flow was quantified in terms of swirl/tumble ratio and mean flow coefficient. As the SCV opening angle was increased, high swirl ratios more than 3.0 were obtained in the case of SCV -70° and 90°. Second, spray characteristics of the intermittent injection were investigated by a PDA (Phase Doppler Anemometer) system. A Time Dividing Method (TDM) was used to analyze the microscopic spray characteristics. It was found that the atomization characteristics such as velocity and SMD (Sauter Mean Diameter) of the spray were affected by the in-cylinder swirl ratio. As a result, it was concluded that the swirl ratio improves atomization characteristics uniformly.
