  • The dyeing properties of mulberry fiber/cotton blended fabric with Inonotus obliquus are studied through the investigation of the effects of dyeing conditions, such as the concentration of Inonotus obliquus extract colorants, dyeing temperature, time, and pH values on dye uptakes (K/S). In addition, the effects of mordant on the dye uptakes and antibacterial activities are investigated. The results are summarized as follows. The dye uptakes of dyed fabric increased gradually with an increase concentration of Inonotus obliquus extract colorants, the K/S value was the highest when the dyeing temperature was $60^{\circ}C$ for a duration of 60 minutes. As the pH value of the dyeing solution changed to more acidic, the dyeability of the, fabric was improved. The K/S value recorded the highest at pH 3. The antibacterial activities of dyed and unmordanted mulberry fiber/cotton blended fabric showed a high Staphylococcus aureus reduction rate.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the types and causes of non-value-added (NVA) activities in nursing practice, and to determine the frequency of each NVA type and causes of NVA in clinical area. Methods: This study was conducted using Delphi technique. First, in order to identify NVA and their causes, 24 nurses with 7 years or more of clinical experience were recruited from medical/surgical units in six general hospitals in Korea. Then the NVA types and causes were tested using a larger sample of 130 nurses with more than 3 years of clinical experience at two general hospitals in Korea. Results: NVA was categorized into 6 different types, which are repeating, duplicating, waiting, reverse-proxy working, reworking, and searching. The most prevalent NVAs were repeating and duplicating works. Reworking and searching were less frequent types than others. The causes of NVA were classified into personnel-related, supporting departments, records, regulations, information, materials or instruments, and others. Among them, personnel-related and supporting departments were reported with the highest scores. Conclusion: NVA leads to waste cost and time. These results demonstrated the situations and causes of NVA occurred in nursing practice. Further studies on the typology and moderation of NVA activities are warranted to improve the efficiency and quality of nursing care in day-to-day practice.

Methodology/Approach: Research subjects were 31 general wards of C university hospital, which has 1,200 beds. Data were collected through survey and focus group interview. The mean value of nurses in a ward was converted to unit-level variable value of the ward. The SPSS 24.0 version was used to analyse the data. The units were classified into two groups, high performing and low performing, by the subjective level of quality improvement performance. Findings: The main findings are as follows: 1. The high performing groups participated more in education related to quality improvement and showed more quality improvement cases in progress than that of their counterpart. 2. The high performing group's nurses show more positive perception and attitude on quality improvement activities, and they have positive assessment on the necessity, effect, satisfaction about the quality improvement activities. 3. Middle managers' ability, attitude, motivation, and effective communication across members of the ward played pivotal roles in boosting the quality improvement activities of wards.

  • We examined the inhibitory activities against monoamine oxidase (MAO) of Chrysanthemum indicum L. in vitro and in vivo methods. Methanolic extract of C. indicum showed significant inhibitory activities on MAO-A that were prepared from rat brain in vitro. The inhibitory activities were measured by serotonin as a substrate. The $IC_{50}$ value of methanolic extract of C. indicum was 0.24 mg/ml for the inhibition of MAO-A. The ethylacetate fraction of methanolic extract of C. indicum exhibited the best activity toward MAO-A with $IC_{50}$ value of 0.05 mg/ml in vitro. It was observed that those activities in vivo tests have different tendency each other. Ethanolic extract of C. indicum was have no effect on rat MAO by the oral administration (p<0.05). However, MAO inhibitory activities of ethanolic extract of C. indicum by the oral administration have similar tendency to those of iproniazid. Consequently, we suggest that C. indicum may have the effects on the inhibitory activities against MAO both in vitro and in vivo. These results indicates that the C. indicum extract has properties indicative of potential neuroprotective ability.

  • Purpose - This study investigates whether corporate social responsibility(hereafter CSR) management activities affect companies' performance. Depending on the CSR management activities and companies' type (national and multinational), we examined whether there is any difference in their CSR activities on Corporate Performance. Research design, data, and methodology - Data were collected from 230 surveys with a sample group consisting of employees in multinational corporations located in Seoul and Gyeonggi and 224 copies were used from 3 May 2016 to 17 May 2016. The data was analyzed by SPSS 21.0. Results - The empirical results show that CSR management activities positively influence on financial and non-financial corporate achievement and CSR may be interpreted as a strategic method to improve corporate value. But the impacts of CSR activities on performance were different between domestic and multinational corporations. The reason that the legal responsibility was overruled as a factor for financial and non-financial achievement in domestic company may be that CSR management activity is perceived as an indulgence to hide or beautify negative behavior regarding corporate illegal behavior, thus it does not deliver value. Conclusions - CSR activities can be delivered differently between domestic and multinational corporations, and further study should be done why there are differences between corporations.

  • Donation-based crowdfunding(DBC) is conducted from voluntary participation by project operators. It requires a different operational strategy than general crowdfunding. However, there is a limited amount of research on the operational strategy of DBC. This study explores the value co-creation(VCC) strategy of DBC and analyzes the operation of DonorsChoose.org. The research questions encompass the following: First, we identify the VCC activities of DBC. Second, we uncover activities of the platform operators that facilitate the participation of project operators in VCC activities. Third, we explore how VCC activities affect project operational performance and platform performance in DBC. By adopting a single case study method on DonorsChoose.org, this study provides meaningful insight and detailed understanding into the VCC in DBC. First, VCC processes of DBC are identified(Co-ideation, Co-design, Co-funding, Co-operation, and Co-evaluation). Also, interactions between platform operators and project operators were defined at each stage. Second, this study confirmed that standardization and simplification of platform operators, support for pre- and post-activity, and high-quality information delivery activities were critical. Third, we confirm that these VCC activities improve VCC operational performance and platform performance. The theoretical significance of this study is that the concept of VCC, previously concentrated on participants with economic drivers(consumers and investors), has been applied to the context of DBC, a form of participation by participants with non-economic drivers(supporters and donors). In addition, this study practically contributes to the practice of VCC strategy among various platform operating strategies in DBC.

  • This study measured the social value of social economy enterprises in Incheon Metropolitan City using the Social Value Index (SVI) developed by the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency. The results showed that the social value orientation of the business activities of SSEs averaged 9.3 out of 15 points, and their innovation efforts were 8.0 out of 10 points. The average monetary and non-monetary social contribution efforts of SSEs was 5.1 out of 10. When comparing the average sales and social value scores by industry, the manufacturing sector shows that social enterprises have higher average sales and social value orientation of business activities, but lower social return efforts. Social work facility management and business support services have high average sales, but low social value orientation of business activities and efforts to make monetary or non-monetary social contributions. On the other hand, education services; arts, sports, and leisure-related services; and publishing, video, broadcasting, communication, and information services have lower average revenues but higher social value orientation of business activities. These SVI indicators are well utilized by local governments, but not yet by the central government. In the future, governments and public institutions should reflect the differences between sectors when formulating policies for social enterprises.
