In this paper, we propose an effective web service software platform for remote monitoring and control. We removed the servlet container for better web service performance so as to improve the gSOAP processing which is an essential element of web service implementation. Furthermore, we designed the web service server/client software platform which can be applied to robot or ubiquitous sensor applications. For validation of this study we tested it by manufacturing robot hardware for monitoring control which combined tanks and sensors on a LDS4000 engine board mounted with a PXA270 processor. The practical excellence and the efficiency of the result of this study was validated by the comparison of gSOAP message exchange load between the web service client application and the conventional remote monitoring control technique through a web server.
Data broadcasting is an efficient method for disseminating data, and is widely accepted in the database applications of mobile computing environments because of its asymmetric communication bandwidth between a server and mobile clients. This requires new types of concurrency control mechanism to support mobile transactions executed in the mobile clients, which have low-bandwidths toward the server. In this paper, we propose an OCC/DTA (Optimistic Concurrency Control with Dynamic Time-stamp Adjustment) protocol that can be efficiently adapted to mobile computing environments. The protocol reduces communication overhead by using client-side validation procedure and enhances transaction throughput by adjusting serialization order without violating transaction semantics. We show that the proposed protocol satisfies data consistency requirements, and simulate that this protocol can improve the performance of mobile transactions in data broadcasting environments.
Standard Protocol Optimized for Resource-Constrained IoT Environment Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) supports web-based communication between a sensor node in the IoT environment and a client on the Internet. The CoAP is a Request / Response model that responds to the client's CoAP Request message by responding with a CoAP Response message from the server. CoAP recommends the use of CoAP-DTLS for message protection. However, validation of the use of DTLS in the IoT environment is underway. We analyze CoAP and DTLS security mode, evaluate performance of secure channel creation time, security channel creation step time, and RAM / ROM consumption through Cooja simulator and evaluate the possibility of real environment application.

Public electronic certificates, as an important means for identification, have been used as the main economic transactions, including banking, e-government, e-commerce. identification. However, damage cases of certificates have been increased by Illegally issued and by hacking practices. Also the users have a difficult in ensuring that their certificates when and where to use. Therefore, the proposed system gives the organization code for the Institutions using OCSP services in advance, the organization code embedded in extensions of OCSP request message structure when institutions ask the validation of certificate to CA(Certificate Authority). Also, OCSP server can extract the organization code from OCSP request message, confirm the institution, and record it in certificate history management table of DB. In this paper, we presented a system that could determine the certificate history check using OCSP service, public electronic certificate validation service, and implemented to prevent and cope immediately with financial incidents.
The session initiation protocol (SIP) is a signaling protocol, which is used to controlling communication session creation, manage and finish over Internet protocol. Based on it, we can implement various services like voice based electronic commerce or instant messaging. Recently, Qiu et al. proposed an enhanced password authentication scheme for SIP. However, this paper withdraws that Qiu et al.'s scheme is weak against the off-line password guessing attack and has denial of service problem. Addition to this, we propose an improved password authentication scheme as a remedy scheme of Qiu et al.'s scheme. For this, the proposed scheme does not use server's verifier and is based on elliptic curve cryptography. Security validation is provided based on a formal validation tool ProVerif. Security analysis shows that the improved authentication scheme is strong against various attacks over SIP.

In this study, the applicability of a standard vector model was evaluated using RIMGIS vector data and a portal based river-geospatial information web service system was developed using XML and JSON based data linkage between the server and the client. The RIMGIS vector data including points, lines, and polygons were converted to the Geospatial Data Model(GDM) developed in this study and were validated by layers. After the conversion, it was identified that the attribute data of a shape file remained without loss. The GeoServer GDB(GeoDataBase) that manages a DB in the portal was developed as a management module. The XML-based Geography Markup Language(GML) standards of OGC was used for accessing to and managing vector layers and encoding spatial data. The separation of data content and expression in the GML allowed the different expressions of the same data, convenient data revision and update, and enhancing the expandability. In the future, it is necessary to improve the access, exchange, and storage of river-geospatial information through the user's customized services and Internet accessibility.

Web-mail system is worthy of note as a next generation e-mail system for its mobility and easiness. But many web-mail system does not have any kind of security mechanism. Even if web-mail system provides security services, its degree of strength is too low. Using these web-mail systems, the e-mail is tabbed, modified or forged by attacker easily. To solve these problems, we design and implement secure web-mail system based on the international e-mail security standard S/MIME in this thesis. This secure web-mail system is composed of server system and client system The server system performs basic mail functions - sending/receiving the mails, storing the mails, and management of user information, etc. And the client system performs cryptographic functions - encryption/decryption of the mails, digital signing and validation, etc. Because client system performs cryptographic functions this secure web-mail system gives its reliability and safety, and provides end-to-end security between mail users. Also, this secure web-mail system increase system efficiency by minimize server load.

Mobile computing environment is subject to the constraints of bounded network bandwidth, frequently encountered disconnections, insufficient battery power, and system asymmetry. To meet these constraints and to gain high scalability, data broadcasting has been proposed on data transmission techniques. However, updates made to the database in any broadcast cycle are deferred to the next cycle in order to appear to mobile clients with lower data currency. The main goal of this paper is to enhance the transaction performance processing and database currency. The main approach involves decomposing the main broadcast cycle into a number of sub-cycles, where data items are broadcasted as they were originally sequenced in the main cycle while appearing in the most current versions. A concurrency control method AOCCRBSC is proposed to cope well with the cycle decomposition. The proposed method exploits predeclaration and adapts the AOCCRB method by customizing prefetching, back-off, and partial backward and forward validation techniques. As a result, more than one of the conflicting transactions is allowed to commit at the server in the same broadcast cycle which empowers the processing of both update and read-only transactions and improves data currency.

There exists a clear need to monitor the performance of civil structures over their operational lives. Current commercial monitoring systems suffer from various technological and economic limitations that prevent their widespread adoption. The wires used to route measurements from system sensors to the centralized data server represent one of the greatest limitations since they are physically vulnerable and expensive from an installation and maintenance standpoint. In lieu of cables, the introduction of low-cost wireless communications is proposed. The result is the design of a prototype wireless sensing unit that can serve as the fundamental building block of wireless modular monitoring systems (WiMMS). An additional feature of the wireless sensing unit is the incorporation of computational power in the form of state-of-art microcontrollers. The prototype unit is validated with a series of laboratory and field tests. The Alamosa Canyon Bridge is employed to serve as a full-scale benchmark structure to validate the performance of the wireless sensing unit in the field. A traditional cable-based monitoring system is installed in parallel with the wireless sensing units for performance comparison.

In this paper, a POI(Point-of-Interest) telematics service platform, in which detailed POI telematics services are discovered automatically and provided, is developed. The platform discovers services with UPnP middleware and provides a location-based service using GIS information. It is implemented by a telematics server, terminals, and service gateways and tested by applying test scenario for validation. Also, the response time and throughput of UPnP messages in the platform is measured and analyzed. The result shows that it has little impact on the service network congestion.
