Optical Characteristics and Electric Field Dependency of $Alq_3$ Thin Film (Alq3박막의 광학특성과 전계 의존성)

  • In this paper, organic thin film LED(light emitting diode) having ITO glass/$Alq_3$/Al structure using an $Alq_3$ was fabricated by the vacuum evaporation and the absorbance, wave length, 1-V characteristics were investigated. Electroluminescence of green and wavelength of 510[nm] were observed in this device. We observed absorbance form 320[nm] to 430[nm] and knew unstability of $Alq_3$ material as light emitting device.

  • Spacer가 없는 Field Emission Display 정보표시소자의 진공 패키징시 패널 유리 두 께에 따른 패널 유리가 받는 응력과 패널의 중앙 부위에서의 변위를 계산하였다. 판의 각 모서리가 고정된 상태에서 일정한 압력을 받는 경우의 bending moment로부터 우리가 받는 압력을 계산하였으며 3.7"와 5.7"크기의 두가지 경우를 실험하여 계산값과 파괴양상 및 중앙 에서의 변위를 비교하였다.변위를 비교하였다.

  • The composite composed of glass fabric and BMI resin was fabricated using resin transfer molding(RTM) process. it will be used as a supporting plate of transformer coil for high speed train. To develop a RTM process, permeability of preform was measured and resin properties like a viscosity and gellation time were checked. A resin pre-heating system and a mold system were also designed and developed. Using a vacuum-assisted RTM process, the composite supporting plate was successfully fabricated.

  • Metal-Oxide-Metal thin film diodes have been fabricated on the glass substrates by conventional vacuum evaporation method, and the electrical properties, primarily current-voltage characteristics of diodes, have been discussed in the light of various conduction theories presented so far. The experimental results were ploted in the different figures according to the assumed theory, and the characteristic coefficients peculior to these theories were estimated from the function dependence of current (I) upon voltage (V), temperature (T) and oxide film thickness (d).

  • Contacts formed by vacuum evaporation of As-Te-Si-Ge chalcogenide glass onto Al metal (99.9999%) are studied by measuring paralle capacitance C(V), Cp(w), resistance R(V), Rp(w), and I-V characteristics. The fact that contact metal alloying produced high-resistance region is confirmed from the measurements of parallel capacitance and resistance. From the I-V characteristics in the pre-switcing region, it is found that electronic conduction and sitching occurs in the vicinity of metal-amorphous semiconductor interface. From the experimental obsevations, it is concuded that the current flow in the thin film is space-charge limited current (SCLC) due to the tunneling of electrons through the energy barriers.

  • MgO films is widely used in plasma display panel (PDP) technology. In this work, structural and optical properties of the MgO films deposited by e-beam evaporation, reactive magnetron sputtering, which are commercially used, and arc deposition were compared. MgO thin films were deposited on glass substrates by vacuum arc deposition equipment using a magnesium metal target at various oxygen gas flows. In order to investigate the packing density by ellipsometer, to measure reasonable erosion-rates of the MgO protective layers, we introduced an acceleration test method, namely, Ar+ ion beam induced erosion test. Also, XPS and UV test were adopted to examine the effect of the moisture on the optical transmittance of the MgO protective layers, which showed that these of MgO films by arc deposition method sustained more 90% and were insensitive to effect of the moisture. XRD and AFM have been also used to study behaviors of the structure and surface morphology.

  • A vacuum pressure-difference technique for making a nano-precision replica is investigated for various applications. Master patterns for replication were fabricated using a nano-replication printing (nRP) process. In the nRP process, any picture and pattern can be replicated from a bitmap figure file in the range of several micrometers with resolution of 200nm. A liquid-state monomer is solidified by two-photon absorption (TPA) induced by a femto-second laser according to a voxel matrix scanning. After polymerization, the remaining monomers were removed simply by using ethanol droplets. And then, a gold metal layer of about 30nm thickness was deposited on the fabricated master patterns prior to polydimethylsiloxane molding for preventing bonding between the master and the polydimethylsiloxane mold. A few gold particles attached on the polydimethylsiloxane stamp during detaching process were removed by a gold selecting etchant. After fabricating the polydimethylsiloxane mold, a nano-precision polydimethylsiloxane replica was reproduced. More precise replica was produced by the vacuum pressure-difference technique that is proposed in this paper. Through this study, direct patterning on a glass plate, replicating a polydimethylsiloxane mold, and reproducing polydimethylsiloxane replica are demonstrated with a vacuum pressure-difference technique for various micro/nano-applications.

Influence of Glass Dielectric Property on the External Electrode Fluorescent Lamps (유리관의 유전 특성이 외부전극 형광램프에 미치는 영향)

  • Influence of glass dielectric property (dielectric constant K, dielectric loss) on the external electrode fluorescent lamps of the dielectric barrier discharge has been investigated with 4-different glasses. Conventional borosilicate glass tubes with $K=5.6{\sim}5.9$ and tan ${\delta}=5.0{\times}10^{-3}{\sim}6.0{\times}10^{-3}$ and aluminosilicate glass tubes with high K=6.6 and low tan ${\delta}=1{\times}10^{-4}$ and soda-lime glass tribes with K=7.7 and tan ${\delta}=1.37{\times}10^{-2}$ have been compared. The high value of dielectric constant K makes the capacitance of external electrode fluorescent lamps intensity and enhances the discharge efficiency. The dielectric loss of tan ${\delta}$ shows the factor of power consumption in the external electrode to induce heats and to be weak in pinhole stability. The aluminosilicate glass tubes of high K and low tan ${\delta}$ have been enhanced by $14{\sim}18%$ in luminance and efficiency in comparison with the conventional borosilicate glass tubes and the aluminosilicate external electrode fluorescent lamps are strong against the pinhole formation. Soda-lime glass tubes with high K and high tan ${\delta}$ are a little favorable in luminance and efficiency and they are very weak in pinhole occurrence.

Characteristics of Plasma Discharge according to the Gas-flow Rate in the Atmospheric Plasma Jets (대기압 플라즈마 제트의 기체 유량에 대한 방전 특성)

  • The influence of gas flow on the plasma generation in the atmospheric plasma jet is described with the theory of hydrodynamics. The plasma discharge is affected by the gas-flow streams with Reynolds number (Re) as well as the gas pressure with Bernoulli's theorem according to the gas flow rate inserted into the glass tube. The length of plasma column is varied with the flow types such as the laminar flow of Re<2,000 and the turbulent flow of Re>4,000 as it has been known in a general fluid experiments. In the laminar flow, the plasma column length is increased as the increase of flow rate. Since the pressure in the glass tube becomes low as the increase of flow velocity by the Bernoulli's theorem, the breakdown voltage of plasma discharge is reduced by the Paschen's law. Therefore, the plasma length is increased as the increasing flow rate with the fixed operation voltage. In the transition of laminar and turbulent flows, the plasma length is decreased. When the flow becomes turbulent as the flow rate is increasing, the plasma length becomes short and the discharge is shut down ultimately. In the discharge of laminar flow, the diameter of plasma beam exposed on the substrate surface is kept less than the glass diameter, since the gas flow is kept to the distinct distance from the nozzle of glass tube.
