Fabrication and Magnetic Process of 13Cr-1.5Nb-Fe Stainless Sensors (13Cr-1.5Nb-Fe 스텐레스 센서재료의 제조 및 연자기특성)

  • 13Cr-1.5Nb-Fe alloy powder was fabricated by water atomization method, and ring-shape specimen of this composition was fabricated by oil press, and then sintered in the vacuum furnace. Powder shape, size distribution, composition (C, N, O, S) analysis and saturation magnetization of as-prepared 13Cr-1.5Nb-Fe alloy powder were investigated. Ac permeability and power loss was measured after forming and sintering process. Saturation magnetization and contents of oxygen of the alloy powder is160 emu/g and about 6000 ppm, respectively. 50 % volume fraction indicate particle size of 70$\mu$m. The ac permeability of sintered specimen increases with increasing sintering temperature and forming pressure. The power loss is 107 W/cc at sintering temperature of 1200 $^{\circ}C$, 12 ton/$\textrm{cm}^2$ forming pressure, and 20 KHz. It is the lowest among the prepared specimen.

Corrosion Behavior of Hard Coated Ti-Zr-N Film on the Tool Steels

  • To investigate the corrosion behavior of tools steel surface in various coating film, the surface of hard coated Ti-Zr-N film on the tool steel by using magnetron-sputtering methods was researched using various experimental methods. STD 61 steels were manufactured by using vacuum furnace and solutionized for 1hr at $1050^{\circ}C$. Steel surface was coated with Ti-Zr-N film at $150^{\circ}C$ and 100W for 1h by using DC-sputtering equipment. Surface characteristics of Ti-Zr-N film coated specimens were investigated by OM, XRD, FE-SEM and nano-scratch tester. And corrosion behaviors of the coated specimen were investigated by polarization test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EG&G Co, PARSTAT 2273. USA). It was found that Ti-Zr-N film coated sample had a thick coated layer and showed a good wear resistance and corrosion resistance of surface compared with ZrN and TiN coated sample. The corrosion resistance and mechanical property of Ti-Zr-N film coated STD 61 alloy increased as sputtering time increased.

A Study on the Degradation Mechanism of ZnO Ceramic Varistor Manufactured by Ambient Sintering-Process (분위기 소결공정에 의해 제조된 ZnO 세라믹 바리스터의 열화기구 연구)

  • The relationship between the DC degradation characteristics of the ZnO varistor and the ambient sintering-process is investigated in this study. ZnO varistors made o matsuoka’s composition were fabricated by standard ceramic techniques. The ambient sintering-process is performed at the extraordinary electrical-furnace which is equipped with the vacuum system. Gases used in sintering process were oxygen nitrogen argon and air. Using XRD and SEM the phase and microstructure of samples were analyzed respectively. The conditions of DC degradation tests were conducted at 115$\pm$2$^{\circ}C$ for 13 h. Current-voltage analysis is used to determine nonlinear coefficients($\alpha$). Frequency analysis are performed to understand electrical properties as DC degradation test. From above analysis it is found that the ZnO varistor sintered in oxygen atmosphere showed superior properties at the DC degradation test and degradation phenomenon of ZnO varistor is caused by the change of electrical properties in grain boundary. These results are in accordance with Gupta’s degradation model.

  • Corrosion characteristics of Ti, Ti/Cr coated and plasma-nitrided surface for stainless steel containing Ti have been studied. Stainless steels containing 0.09-0.92wt% Ti were fabricated by using vacuum furnace and solutionized for 1hr at $1050^{\circ}C$. Ti and Cr coatings were done on solutionized stainless steel surface by EB-PVD. The Ti coated specimen were coated by Cr and were nitrided by plasma at $450^{\circ}C$ for 5hr Microstructure and phase analysis were performed using SEM, OM and EDX. Corrosion behavior of the coated specimen was investigated by electrochemical test. The coated surface was of fine columnar structure. The Ti/Cr coated surface was denser than the Ti coated and the Ti coated-nitrided surfaces. The corrosion and pitting potential increased in proportion to the Ti content, coating temperature, coating thickness and formation of stable oxide film. The current density in active and passive region decreased in the case of Ti/Cr coated sample and Ti coated-nitrided samples. Especially the plasma nitrided specimen after Ti coating have a good corrosion resistance compared with the Ti coated specimen. The number and size of pits decreased as Ti content of matrix increased.

CaO Crucible Induction Melting and Investment Casting of TiAl Alloys (TiAl 합금의 CaO 도가니 유도용융 및 정밀주조)

  • The main objectives were to investigate the suitability of CaO crucible for melting TiAl alloys and to develop investment mold for investment casting of TiAl alloys. TiAl alloy specimen were prepared by plasma arc furnace under argon atmosphere. After melting of TiAl alloy using CaO crucible, the results showed that there is little contamination of oxygen in the TiAl bulk. Conventional vacuum induction furnaces can be readily adaptable to produce cast parts of TiAl without high skilled techniques. The determination of optical metallography and microhardness profiles in investment cast TiAl alloy rods has allowed the gradation of the relative thermal stability of the oxides examined. The molds used for the present study were $ZrO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, CaO stabilized $ZrO_2$ and $ZrSiO_4$. Even although high temperature of mold preheating, $Al_2O_3$ mold is a promising mold material for investment casting of TiAl alloys in terms of thermal stability, cost and handling strength. It is important to take thermal stability and preheating temperature of mold into consideration for investment casting of TiAl alloys.

Stress Corrosion Cracking Characteristics of Shot-peened Stainless Steel Containing Ti (Shot-peening 표면처리된 Ti 함유 스테인리스강의 응력균열부식)

  • Stress corrosion cracking(SCC) characteristics of shot-peened stainless steel containing Ti (0.09 wt%-0.92 wt%) fabricated by the vacuum furnace were investigated using SCC tester and potentiostat. The homogenization and the sensitization treatment were carried out at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 1hr and $650^{\circ}C$ for 5 hr. The samples for SCC were shot-peened using $\Phi$0.6 mm steel ball for 4 min and 10 min. Intergranular and pitting corrosion characteristics were investigated by using EPR and CPPT. SCC test was carried out at the condition of$ 288^{\circ}C$, 90 kgf pressure, water with 8 ppm dissolved oxygen, and $8.3xl0^{-7}$/s strain rate. After the corrosion and see test, the surface of the tested specimen was observed by the optical microscope, TEM and SEM. Specimen with Ti/C ratio of 6.14 showed high tensile strength at the sensitization treatment. The tensile strength decreased with the increase of the Ti/C ratio. Pitting and intergranular corrosion resistance increased with the increase of Ti/C ratio. Stress corrosion cracking strength of shot-peened specimen was higher than that of non shot- peened specimen. Stress corrosion cracking strength decreased with the increase of the Ti/C ratio.

Fabrication of tantalum nitride thin film strain gauges and its characteristics (Ta-N 스트레인 게이지의 제작과 그 특성)

  • This paper presents the characteristics of Ta-N thin film strain gauges that are suitable for harsh environemts, which were deposited on thermally oxidized Si substrates by DC reactive magnetronsputtering in an argon-nitrogen atmosphere (Ar-$N_2$ (4 ~ 16 %)). These films were annealed for 1 hr in $2{\times}10^{-6}$ Torr in a vacuum furnace with temperatures that ranged from 500 - $1000^{\circ}C$. The optimized deposition and annealing conditions of the Ta-N thin film strain gauges were determined using 8 % $N_2$ gas flow ratio and annealing at $900^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr. Under optimum formation conditions, the Ta-N thin film strain gauges obtained a high electrical resistivity, ${\rho}\;=\;768.93\;{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, a low temperature coefficient of resistance, $TCR\;=\;-84\;ppm/^{\circ}C$ and a high temporal stability with a good longitudinal gauge factor, GF=4.12. The fabricated Ta-N thin film strain gauges are expected to be used inmicromachined pressure sensors and load cells that are operable under harsh environments.

Study of thermal stability of Ni Silicide using Ni-V Alloy

  • In this paper, Ni-V alloy was studied with different structures and thickness. In case of Ni-V and Ni-V/Co/TiN, low resistive Ni silicide was formed after one step RTP (Rapid Thermal Process) with temperature range from $400^{\circ}C$ to $600^{\circ}C$ for 30sec in vacuum. After furnace annealing with temperatures range from $550^{\circ}C$ to $650^{\circ}C$ for 30min in nitrogen ambient, Ni-V single structure shows the best thermal stability compare with the other ones. To enhance the thermal stability up to 650oC and find the optimal thickness of Ni silicide, different thickness of Ni-V was studied in this work. Stable sheet resistance was obtained through Ni-V single structure with optimal Ni-V thickness.

A Study on Improved Pore Uniformity of Nano Template Using the Rapid Thermal Processor (급속열처리를 통한 알루미나 나노템플릿의 기공 균일도 개선에 관한 연구)

  • AAO templates were fabricated using a two-step anodization process with pretreatment such as electro polishing and annealing. To reduce process time and get well-aligned pore array, rapid thermal processor by an halogen lamp was employed in vacuum state at $500^{\circ}C$ for various time. The pore array of AAO template annealed at $500^{\circ}C$ for 2 h is comparable to a template annealed in conventional furnace at $500^{\circ}C$ for 30 h. The well-fabricated AAO template has the mean pore diameter of 70 nm, the barrierlayer thickness of 25 nm, and the pore depth of $9{\mu}m$. And the pore density can be as high as $2.0\times10^{10}cm^{-2}$.

Preparation of Conductive SrMoO3 Thin Films by RF Magnetron Sputtering and Evaluation of Their Electrical Conduction Properties (RF 마그네트론 스퍼터법을 사용한 전도성 SrMoO3 박막 제조 및 전기전도특성 평가)

  • Conductive $SrMoO_3$ thin films were fabricated by RF magnetron sputtering with the powder-type sputtering target, and annealed for crystallization. When RTP (rapid thermal processing) in vacuum was applied, the fabricated thin films showed the mixed phases of $SrMoO_3$ and $SrMoO_4$, but $SrMoO_3$ phase could be promoted by the lowering of the working pressure during deposition. In order to eliminate $O_2$ gas during deposition and annealing, further lowering of the working pressure and furnace annealing in hydrogen atmosphere were tried. With the optimization of the deposition and annealing conditions, the thin film with nearly single-phase of $SrMoO_3$ was obtained, and it showed good electrical conduction properties with a low resistivity of $2.5{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ at room temperature.
