  • This paper describes the characteristics of two methods about providing information needed for propulsion device control in train. The one is to use new way using the communication network for transmission of control information, the other is traditional way using hardwire connection. And this paper describes the communication interface technique between TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System) and VVVF inverter system with LonWorks network adapted to SMG line 6 which has been developed. With this technique, an inertia load test carried out for the traction control environment and it is expecting a field test at SMG line 6.

  • There are operated the six thousand train in the interior of a country. 95% of them are possible usage of resuscitation. Especially, Among them VVVF-Inverter vehicle has a merit of the highest recycle rate. but we don't use a apt recycled energy. Although the existing recycle energy used inverter method supply with electric power, it is decided in accordance with the state of sources. So efficiency of recycled electric power is of poor quality and catenary-voltage-fluctuation be generate because of recycled electric power. and it is able to affect system of safety train service. We'll research the method of supply according to wire condition after storing recycle energy made during train's stopping relation to Advanced EMU Research. Those methods are divided SMES, Fly-Wheel and Supercapacitor, and Considering the both economical efficiency and system application, we'll develop recycle energy storage system suitable our country condition.

  • Since recent inverters are formed IGBT VVVF inverter its switching speed has been increased relative to the conventional inverters and the motor design based on the switching surge voltage at the inverter output is very important factor. Therefore, motor and inverter should be designed to have the optimal characteristics by considering the mutually limited conditions. On this research the design technology characteristics for inverter driving traction moor is compared to the products in Korea and the analysis is performed. Thus, it is intend to re-estimate the technology level and introduce the products by HHI, which is driving on Seoul subway line 6 since December, 2000.

  • This study focuses on finding ways to derive train's optimal ECO driving pattern, which can improve the ride quality and reduce driving energy consumption with keeping the time interval between the stations. As research method, we compared difference of currently operating train's ATO and MCS driving patterns, and concentrated upon the things need to consider in simulation in order to improve the existing pattern of ATO driving pattern's issues with securing the train operation safety. Determining driving pattern minimizing energy consumption by controlling powering within speed limit and controlling switching to coasting at appropriate point considering the track conditions for each section, and determining braking control starting time considering ride comfort and precise stopping is considered to be most important.

  • The principal of a Maglev train is that floats on a magnetic field and is propelled by a linear induction motor. One of advantages is that it generates less noise compared to the wheel-on-rail train, because there are no wheels running along the rail. However, noises due to aero-dynamic disturbance and electrical system such as VVVF inverter and SLIM still occur. In this study, the Maglev cabin noises are measured during running and zero speed conditions. Pass-by noise measurements are performed to obtain outside noise during the operation of the train on the test tract. Data include a single microphone measurement as well as microphone array measurements. The array data are useful for sound source localization and more detailed noise reduction planning.

  • Tilting train has been developed to increase the operational speed of the trains on conventional lines which have many curves. This train are tilted at curves to compensate for unbalanced carbody centrifugal acceleration to a greater extent than compensation produced by the track cant, so that passengers do not feel centrifugal acceleration and thus trains can run at higher speed at curves. This paper show that results of normal capacity calculations of the electrical equipments such as Main transformer, PWM converter, VVVF inverter, traction motor in TTX(tilting train express) with maximum operation speed 180 km/h

  • This test is performed to reduce slip/slide which are generated from VVVF inverter. when the adhesive force between wheel and rail is not ensured, slip/slide are mainly originated. In this paper, we carried out real test adopting acceleration changes to find optimized method minimizing the amount of generation of slip/slide. Through this real test, we obtained optimum result on reducing slip/slide and especially focused on decrease in slip. This method is currently applied to real train.

  • The electric locomotive make a development by using as a trial petition way on the basis of finding for several years in 1996 and the electric locomotive in KNR railway electrification section of AC25KV 60Hz, can couple with passenger train of 700 ton doing running possibility from evenness to maximum running speed 140Km/h, Specially, propulsion equipment operates three phase AC motor that behaves axle control by VVVF inverter and affords higher axle per tractive effort as behaving control by SIBAS32 that up-to-date technology is integrated. Also, new style electric locomotive is designed so that can run in -35∼45 climatic condition.
