한국현재의 컴퓨팅환경은 Text위주의 Command Line상에서의 입출력에서 GUI(Graphic User Interface)환경으로 전환되었다. 이는 사용자에게 좀더 친근한 방법으로의 컴퓨팅환경을 제공하고 있는 것이다. 하지만 아직까지 그러한 환경에 익숙해지기 위해서는 많은 습득시간이 필요하며 또한, 응용프로그램 간의 인터페이싱 기능 등을 익히기 위해서는 추가적인 학습을 통해야 원활한 작업을 수행할 수 있다. 이를 해결하고자 본 연구는 음성인식/ 합성과, 현재 음성마크업 언어인 VoiceXML 등을 통해서 모색해보고자 한다.

In this study, Automatic Speech Recognition Application System is designed and implemented to realize transformation from present GUI-centered web services to VUI-centered web service. Due to ASP's restriction with web in speed and implantation, in this study, Automatic Speech Recognition Application System with Java beans Component Architecture is devised and studied. Also the voice web browsing which is able to transfer voice and graphic information simultaneously is studied using Remote AWT(Abstract Windows Toolkit).

This study aimed to demonstrate the effect of feedback type on users' subjective responses in a voice user interface. Feedback type is classified depend on information characteristic it involves; verification feedback and elaboration feedback. Error type is categorized as recognition error and performance error. Users' subjective assessment about system, feedback acceptance, and intention to use were measured as dependent variables. The results of experiment showed that feedback type has impacts on the subjective assessment(likeability, habitability, system response accuracy) of VUI, feedback acceptance, and intention to use. the results also demonstrated an interaction effect of feedback type and error type on the feedback acceptance. It leads to the conclusion that VUI should be designed with the elaboration feedback about error situation.

Services for navigation and entertainment through AI-based voice user interface devices are becoming popular in the connected car system. Given the classification of VUI agent developers as IT companies and automakers, this study explores attributes of agent persona and user experience that impact the driver's perceived safety and satisfaction. Participants of a car simulator experiment performed entertainment and navigation tasks, and evaluated the perceived safety and satisfaction. Results of regression analysis showed that credibility of the agent developer, warmth and attractiveness of agent persona, and efficiency and care of the UX dimension showed significant impact on the perceived safety. The determinants of perceived satisfaction were unity of auto-agent makers and gender as predisposing factors, distance in the agent persona, and convenience, efficiency, ease of use, and care in the UX dimension. The contributions of this study lie in the discovery of the factors required for developing conversational VUI into the autonomous driving environment.

개인용 컴퓨터나 무선 전화, PDA의 기술 발전으로 이들이 인터넷에 접속이 용이해짐에 따라, 사용자들은 좀 더 다양하게 인터넷 상의 정보를 검색할 수 있는 방법을 찾고 있다. 본 연구에서는 GUI Browser와 Voice Browser를 연동하여 각 Browser들의 인터페이스를 동시에 사용할 수 있는 시스템을 설계 구현해 보았다. 이 때 Java RMI(Remote Method Invokation)를 이용하여 각 Browser 인터페이스들 사이에 통신이 가능하도록 하였다. 구체적인 시스템으로써 VUI와 GUI를 통해서 검객이 가능한 Multi-Modal 영영사전 어플리케이션을 구현하여 보았다.

Working with dynamic visual representations can help students-with-computer discover new mathematical ideas. Students translate among multiple representations as a strategy to investigate non-routine problems to explore possible solutions in mathematics classrooms. In this paper, we use the area models as new representations for our secondary students to investigate three problems related to the average speed of a particle. Students show their ideas in the process of investigating arithmetic mean, harmonic mean, and average speed through their created dynamic figures. These figures really utilize dynamic geometry software.

ARS (Automatic Response Systems) based on VUI (Voice User Interface) and TTI (Touch Tone Interface) are one of the most widely used communication systems. Despite common usages, however, inconvenience of ARS is continually pointed out. This may stem from lack of human-centered studies aside from technological development. In this paper, we provide guidelines for designing ARS by analyzing hindrance factors of usability of ARS menu structure. We had selected two call-centers using ARS, and carried out an experimental study where subjects performed the task of "returning books." After that, they completed questionnaires and interviews. We identified four problems: the complex menu structure, lack of representativeness on the menu name, users' awareness of location, and a difficulty to move among menus. And we partially discussed the ways of avoiding the problems.
