주성분 분석을 이용한 농업생산기반의 재해 취약성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Vulnerability Assessment for Agricultural Infrastructure using Principal Component Analysis)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate climate change vulnerability over the agricultural infrastructure in terms of flood and drought using principal component analysis. Vulnerability was assessed using vulnerability resilience index (VRI) which combines climate exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity. Ten flood proxy variables and six drought proxy variables for the vulnerability assessment were selected by opinions of researchers and experts. The statistical data on 16 proxy variables for the local governments (Si, Do) were collected. To identify major variables and to explain the trend in whole data set, principal component analysis (PCA) was conducted. The result of PCA showed that the first 3 principal components explained approximately 83 % and 89 % of the total variance for the flood and drought, respectively. VRI assessment for the local governments based on the PCA results indicated that provinces where having the relatively large cultivation areas were categorized as vulnerable to climate change.

BL ERIDANI의 측광관측과 광도곡선 분석 (PHOTOMETRIC OBSERVATIONS AND LIGHT CURVE ANALYSIS OF BL ERIDANI)

  • 한국천문연구원의 NEOPAT 팀과 연세대학교 천문대의 YSTAR 팀이 공동으로 호주 Siding Spring 천문대에 설치한 광시야 자동망원경 2호기를 이용하여 W UMa형 식쌍성 BL Eri의 측광관측을 수행하였다. 이 망원경을 이용하여, 호주와 한국에서 각각 자동관측 모드 및 원격관측 모드로 6일 밤을 관측하여, 새로운 VRI CCD광도곡선과, 5개의 새로운 극심시각을 얻었다. Wilson & Deviney(1971)의 쌍성모델 2005 버전을 이용하여 우리의 광도곡선을 분석하고, 새로운 광도곡선 해를 구하였다. 이 과정에서 우리가 구한 질량비 0.48은 이전의 연구자들이 구한 값과 차이를 보이고 있다. 한편 이 방성계의 접촉상태를 Wilson & Deviney모델을 적용하여 확인한 결과, 현재 BL Eri는 접촉상태에 있는 것으로 보인다.

국가 별 수자원 취약성 지수의 산정 (Assessment of Water Resources Vulnerability Index by Nation)

  • 최근 수자원 취약성에 대한 논의 및 지속 가능한 개발개념에 적합한 지수 개발이 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 지수를 바탕으로 현재 또는 미래의 수자원 취약성을 판단하고 진단하고 있다. 본 연구는 자료의 확보가 가능한World Bank, 취약성-탄력성지수(Vulnerability Resilience Indicator, VRI), 환경지속 가능성지수(Environmental Sustainability Index, ESI)에서 사용된 수자원 평가 관련 지표들을 활용하여 우리나라를 포함한 전 세계 152개 국가의 수자원 취약성 순위를 도출했다. 이러한 지표를 바탕으로 수자원 취약성의 정량적 평가를 위해 TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) 기법을 적용하여 국가 별 수자원 취약성을 지수화하고 취약성 순위를 도출하였다. 연구결과 우리나라는 152개국 중 88위로 나타났고, 대륙 별 비교 시 오세아니아가 취약성이 낮았고, 아프리카는 취약성이 심각한 것으로 나타났다. 주요 국가 비교 시, 미국, 일본, 우리나라, 중국 순으로 취약성의 정도가 심각했다. 따라서 본 연구는 국가 별 수자원 취약성 순위를 통해 우리나라의 상황을 파악하고 국가의 수자원 계획 수립 및 대책을 제시할 수 있는 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

송아지의 실험적 크립토스포리디움증 (Experimental cryptosporidiosis in calves)

  • Four Holstein calves 7-day-old were infected with C parvum oocysts for parasitological and pathological investigations of bovine cryptosporidiosis. Of those calf 1 was orally administered with $7{\times}10^6$ oocysts of C parvum isolated from a Korean mouse (VRI-CN91), and calf 2 with same number of C parvum oocysts provided by Washington State University(WSU). The rest (calf 3 and 4) were orally administered with $1{\times}10^8$ oocysts of VRI-CN91 strain. Calf 1 commenced to discharge oocysts in feces at days 6 post inoculation(PI), and it reached a peak $1.4{\times}10^7$ oocysts per gram of feces(OPG) on day 8 PI. Calf 2 commenced to discharge oocysts in feces at day 4 PI, and it reached a peak $3.75{\times}10^6$ OPG on day 7 PI. Calf 3 and 4 commenced to discharge oocysts in feces at day 3 and day 4 PI, and it reached a peak on day 7 PI (calf 3, $7.8{\times}10^6$ OPG; calf 4, $1.7{\times}10^6$ OPG). Clinically, the calves began to show mucoid-watery diarrhea at day 3 to 5 PI, and the sign lasted 5 to 7 days. Calf 2 died on day 9 PI with a severe dehydration. On necropsy the intestine was found to be congested and hemorrhagic. Protozoan oocysts were observed mainly in the ileum and occasionally in jejunum. The results in the present study indicate that the Korean isolate was pathogenic in calves.

뇌졸중 환자의 상지에서 근육협응 패턴과 관절협응 패턴의 유사성에 관한 연구 (A Study of Symmetry in the Patterns of Muscle Coordination and Interjoint Coordination in the Upper Limb Activity Among Subjects With Stroke)

  • This study aimed to compare movement patterns of shoulder joints between the right and left symmetry in stroke patients and control subjects. This study proposes use of the voluntary response index (VRI) calculated from quantitative analysis of surface electromyographic (sEMG) and motion data recorded during voluntary movement as a feeding task. The VRI is comprised of two numeric values, one derived from the total muscle activity recorded for the voluntary motor task (magnitude), and the other from the sEMG distribution across the recorded muscles with the similarity index (SI). Five stroke patients and five age-matched healthy controls were recruited. Feeding motion was performed using the provided spoon five times with rests taken on a chair in between tasks. EMG data were digitized and analyzed on the basis of the root mean square (RMS) envelope of activity. The average amplitude of responses was calculated. Responsiveness and clinically meaningful levels of discrimination between stroke patients and control for EMG magnitude and SI were determined. The similarity index of the results from two successive examinations of both sides apart for stroke patients and control subjects were .86 and .95 in motion analysis and .84 and .99 in electromyographic analysis. The SI of sEMG data and motion data was significantly correlated in stroke patients. The data suggest that SI is a sensitive program for comparing and analyzing the symmetry of muscle activity and motion in both sides. This analysis method has a clinical value in grading muscular activity and movement impairment after brain injury.

  • W UMa 형 쌍성 TY UMa를 소백산천문대 61cm 반사망원경과 PM512 CCD 카메라를 이용하여 2001년 3월 19일부터 21일까지 3일간 측광관측하여 광도곡선을 완성하였다. 광도곡선의 형태는 제 2극심이 제 1극심보다 더 깊고, 식 바같부분의 max 1은 max II에 비하여 평균 $0.^m023$밝게 나타나는 비대칭이다. 비대칭 광도곡선을 분석하기 위하여 흑점 모델을 도입하고, Wilson & Devinney의 차등보정법을 이용하여 측광학적인 해를 구하였다.

역전장 전기영동장치를 이용한 대형 DNA 분리에 관한 연구 (Separation of large DNA molecules by pulsed field gel electrophoresis)

  • Gel electrophoresis has proven to be one of the most useful of DNA separation and purification. The new technique of pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) is high resolution separation of large size DNA moleculs. Conventional continuous gel electrophresis can not be separation of large DNA fragments(20~50 k base). Field inversion gel electrophoresis(FIGE) is very useful for large DNA molecules. We have found that a pulse ratio ; 2 : 1, time ; 24hrs., volts ; $10^{volts}/_{cm}$, start ; 0.45sec, end ; 1sec, is most effectively resolves DNA fragment in the 6~50k base.

DOUBLE PEAKED OUTBURSTS OF THE BLAZAR OJ 287 IN 1994 - 1996

  • VRI bands CCD photometric observations of the BL Lac object OJ 287 have been carried out during the period from October, 1994 to May, 1996. OJ 287 underwent two major outbursts during our observations. The first peak (V14.0 mag.) occurred in the first half of November, 1994 and faded out to 16.5 mag within 150 days. The second peak (14.0 mag.) was observed in late December, 1995. The latter peak continued at nearly the same brightness until May, 1996. Such a long lasting outburst has never been reported for OJ 287. Color indices (V - R and V-I) remained nearly constant during the outbursts.

Structural Study of the Cytosolic C-terminus of Vanilloid Receptor 1

  • Vanilloid receptor I [transient receptor potential vanilloid subfamily member 1 (TRPV1), also known as VR1] is a non-selective cationic channel activated by noxious heat, vanilloids, and acid, thereby causing pain. VR1 possesses six transmembrane domain and N-and C-terminus cytosolic domains, and appears to be a homotetramer. We studied the structural properties of Cterminus of VR1 (VR1C) using CD and NMR spectroscopy. DPC micelles, with a zwitterionic surface, and SDS micelles, with a negatively charged surface, were used as a membrane mimetic model system. Both SDS and DPC micelles could increase the stability of helical structures and/or reduce the aggregation form of the VR1C. However, the structural changing mode of the VR1C induced by the SDS and DPC micelles was different. The changes according to the various pHs were also different in two micelles conditions. Because the net charges of the SDS and DPC micelles are negative and neutral, respectively, we anticipate that this difference might affect the structure of the VR1C by electrostatic interaction between the surface of the VR1C and phospholipids of the detergent micelles. Based on these similarity and dissimilarity of changing aspects of the VR1C, it is supposed that the VR1C probably has the real pI value near the pH 7. Generally, mild extracellular acidic pH ($6.5{\sim}6.8$) potentiates VRI channel activation by noxious heat and vanilloids, whereas acidic conditions directly activate the channel. The channel activation of the VRI might be related to the structural change of VR1C caused by pH (electrostatic interactions), especially near the pH 7. By measuring the $^1-^{15}N$ TROSY spectra of the VR1C, we could get more resolved and dispersed spectra at the low pH and/or detergent micelles conditions. We will try to do further NMR experiments in low pH with micelles conditions in order to get more information about the structure of VR1C.

엔트로피 가중치를 활용한 대기오염 취약성 평가 - 오존을 중심으로 - (Vulnerability Assessment of the Air Pollution Using Entropy Weights : Focused on Ozone)

  • 지표를 활용한 대기오염 취약성 평가에서는 지표의 선정과 함께 지표별 가중치 결정이 중요한 문제이다. 본 연구는 전국 249개 시군구를 대상으로 엔트로피 가중치 산정법을 활용하여 오존을 중심으로 한 대기오염 취약성을 평가하고, 엔트로피 가중치 방법론의 활용가능성을 검토하였다. 연구방법은 대기오염 취약성 지표를 선정하고 이들을 표준화하고, 엔트로피를 이용한 가중치를 적용하여 취약성을 평가하는 방식을 활용하였다. 노출 지표는 기상요인과 대기오염요인을 고려하였고, 민감도는 취약대상과 취약환경요인을, 지자체별 적응능력은 지역의 사회 경제적 요소, 보건의료요인, 대기관리 요인을 적용하였다. 취약성 평가 결과는 단순합산의 경우 화성시, 광진구, 김포시, 광주시, 군포시 순으로 취약성이 높게 나타났으며, 취약성-탄력성 지표(VRI) 방식도 단순합산 결과와 유사한 취약지역 공간 분포 패턴을 나타내었다. 본 연구에서 제시한 엔트로피 가중치를 이용한 대기오염 취약성 평가는 자료에 기반한 객관적인 취약성 평가로 불확실성을 동반하는 기후변화와 대기오염 취약성 평가에 활용가치가 높을 것으로 보인다. 또한 취약성 평가결과는 지자체별 특성이 반영된 것으로 세부적인 분석을 통해 지역 맞춤형 정책수립에 활용될 수 있다.
