In this paper, on-demand service streaming protocol for user-created contents in digital cable broadcasting environment is considered. In order to provide variety media contents service like UCC in digital cable broadcasting environment, the same service model as RVOD(Real Video on Demand) is required and the different interface for each broadcasting platform is needed in a current OCAP environment. Using return path based RTP, we separate existing VOD stream band into broadcasting and VOD stream band. In order to broaden On-demand service, consistent expansion of the infrastructure same as live broadcasting system is inefficient in the digital cable broadcasting environment. Using existing network protocol, the service which is insensitive to the infrastructure for VOD service becomes possible. Therefore we considered the analysis of the class of download available structure in the Set-Top-Box for RTP(Real-time Transport Protocol) and designing the decoding available streaming server for UCC transcoding and transmission in the receiver. Designing a efficient VOD service and system under the broadcasting environment gives a expansion of On-Demand service and more chance to upload and utilization of contents.

This study investigates the factors influencing to users' intention to retain monthly movie subscription VOD service in the Pay-TV. A dual model of a dedication-based mechanism and constraint-based mechanism used as the analytical framework for the service subscription retention. This study surveyed the total of 366 respondents who aged 15 years or older among the subscribers who use monthly movie subscription VOD service in Pay-TV from May 8 to May 14, 2018 through online surveys. And the study used SPSS 25 and AMOS 21 for data analysis. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, the price, the contents diversity and the ease of use were found to affect the user satisfaction. From three components, the price is the most effective and the ease of use is the next. Second, user satisfaction were found to affect the intention to retain a subscription in the dedication-based mechanism. Third, procedural switching cost were found to affect the intention to retain a subscription in the constraint-base mechanism.

In this paper, we propose the development of an eBook Service System based on VOD Broadcasting Contents(eBSS-VOD) which protects the illegal copy through the effective DRM strategy. Here, eBSS-VOD is composed of three sub-systems - eBook server management system, ePub Builder, and eBook App - according to the functional points of view. The eBook server management system operates to manage the eBooks, the encription keys, the VOD contents, the membership and the history of users' viewing log. The ePub Builder assists to produce eBooks by DRM strategy. The eBook App provides users with the utility services of VOD viewing and eBook purchase processing. The proposed eBSS-VOD, differently from the current eBook systems, helps to increase the users' interests in reading books and to motivate the users' purchasing needs and it also makes new distribution channel for eBooks based on VOD broadcasting contents through smart applications. We provides the differentiated eBook builder which are based on ePub3.0 and DRM strategy. Through empirical survey results on users' interests and purchase intention for eBooks, we show that the proposed eBSS-VOD has the comparative effects compared to the current systems.

기존의 VOD 서비스는 machine에 기반한 서비스를 제공해 왔다. 사용자의 이동을 고려하지 않았던 것이다. 사용자의 이동에 따른 VOD 서비스를 위해서는 Location-Awareness와 사용자수준의 hand-off를 지원하는 기법이 필요하다. 위치인식기술은 Hardware 센서를 포함하므로 본 논문에서는 application level에서 사용자의 이동성을 지원하는 기법을 제안하고 간단한 prototype 시스템을 구현한다. 이를 위해서 코드 자체가 이동하는 지니 기술의 Plug & Work 개념을 활용하였다. 구현된 시스템은 사용자의 이동에 따라서 서비스가 이동하여 지속적인 VOD서비스를 제공해 줄수 있다.

최근 ITU와 FS-VDSL 등의 국제 표준 기구에서 ATM과 IP 기반에서 VDSL 기술을 이용한 VOD 서비스 실현을 위해 서비스, 망 구조 및 프로토콜 등에 대해 연구가 진행 중에 있다 본 논문에서는 ATM/VDSL 기반의 VOD 서비스 제공을 위해 종단간 ATM 모델의 망 구성과 프로토콜 스택을 제시하고 분석한다. 그리고, 이 모델에 대해 IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol)HTSP(Real Time Streaming Protocol)와 DSM-CC (Digital Storage Media Command and Control) 을 이용하는 서버와 셋탑박스 간의 VOD 서비스 신호 절차를 제안하고 분석한다.

Generally, in a VOD(video on Demand) system, batching technique is oten used to improve throughput. Since subscribers to VOD servives tend to withdraw their requests as the latency becomes large, an optimal scheduling scheme should consider not only batching size but also withdrawal rae, service latency and fairness between different programs. In this paper, we propose a new scheduling scheme, which shows improvement in fairness and reduction in withdrawal rate and service latency compared with other well known schemes. When there are 2 or more streams are available in the VOD server, proposed scheme apply different program selection policies to each streams. Using this approach effectiveness of stream usage can be improved.

This paper presents implementation of client-based VOD service using multicast delivery, Conventional system provide server-based system in multicast delivery but implemented system provides on-demand client-based multicast system. The Multicast Agent Scheduler aggregates clients' request and it generate multicast group addresses and port numbers according to requested video items and service request time. Then it transmits immediately multicast address to VOD server and client who request service. And then VOD server transmits requested streams with a multicast group address and the client joins the group automatically. The Multicast Agent Scheduler assigns the same multicast group address when other clients request an identical video within the same scheduling duration. The proposed system can reduce load of server and support many clients at the same time and applies it to WMT(window media technology) of Microsoft.

The patching technique has been used for removing initial waiting time of NVOD. The technique was applicable only to time segmented NVOD services. However, data segmented NVOD methods have been known to have less initial waiting time or use less server's bandwidths than the time segmented NVODs. Therefore, we expect that if patching is applied to a data segmented NVOD, a more efficient NVOD service will be possible. But there has not been such approach. In this paper, we propose a new VOD scheduling algorithm that combines the patching technique with a data segmented NVOD, thus it uses less server's bandwidths and removes initial waiting time, hence makes a true VOD service possible. The proposed technique also absorbs the storage overhead necessary for client buffering incurred by patching into the data segmentation policy of the NVOD scheduling, hence does not need any extra overhead of the client's resource. Therefore, it is also applicable to the case that the client has resource limits.

The number of subscribers of Broad & TV, Qook TV and My LG TV has been growing rapidly. It has been achieved at 1.7 million on August 2009. This study will focus on the viewing pattern of IP-VOD subscribers. For this research, we have interviewed 34 VOD users. According to the analyse, the VOD users prefer to watch free TV's programs, particularly variety programs, during 2 or 3 hours per view and 2 or 3 times a week. They use in general VOD service alone unlike the traditional TV viewers. Furthermore, There were single viewers who have used more than 8 hours continuously on weekend.

In this study VOD usage patterns(VOD use and paid amount) of IPTV users were investigated reflecting the level of media use characteristics such as TV viewing time, star preference, and genre preference. Also the impact of media using characteristics and the evaluation of guide channel on the intention to use VOD was analyzed. The web survey was conducted against the respondents who have used VOD and guide channel. The results are as follows. Among the media usage characteristics, star preference has the impact on the VOD use, while genre preference has relation to the willingness to pay for VOD. Secondly, the intention to view the guide channel, entertainment of the channel, and the users' genre preference have significant impacts on the intention to use VOD. Therefore, it is necessary to raise the viewing rate of guide channel by providing the customized promotion strategy and diverse events based on the analysis of VOD usage.
