  • 본고에서는 최근에 IMO에서 시행될 VDR(Voyage Data Recorder)에 대해 분석하고 특히 통신설비와 결합된 부양형 S-VDR(Simplified -Voyage Data Recoder)에 대한 통신 기술적 측면에 대해서 기술하였다. 이 장비에 결합된 통신 기술은 기존 EPIRB(Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) 기술을 S-VDR과 결합한 것으로 통신적인 측면에서 기술적인 변화는 없다.

  • The vitamin D receptor (VDR) is a member of the nuclear receptor (NR) superfamily. The VDR binds to active vitamin $D_3$ metabolites, which stimulates downstream transduction signaling involved in various physiological activities such as calcium homeostasis, bone mineralization, and cell differentiation. Quercetin is a widely distributed flavonoid in nature that is known to enhance transactivation of VDR target genes. However, the detailed molecular mechanism underlying VDR activation by quercetin is not well understood. We first demonstrated the interaction between quercetin and the VDR at the molecular level by using fluorescence quenching and saturation transfer difference (STD) NMR experiments. The dissociation constant ($K_d$) of quercetin and the VDR was $21.15{\pm}4.31{\mu}M$, and the mapping of quercetin subsites for VDR binding was performed using STD-NMR. The binding mode of quercetin was investigated by a docking study combined with molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. Quercetin might serve as a scaffold for the development of VDR modulators with selective biological activities.

  • For the purpose of technological analysis in the marine accidents and their prevention, IMO have made it obligatory to load VDR which is similar to the black box in aircraft. However, in case of body sinkage, capsizing, stranding and plunging which are almost 10% of marine accidents, it is difficult to take out the necessary data from the VDR in order to analyze the cause of them. Therefore, this paper apply the navigation dangerousness evaluation technology to the VDR to improve its performance. And we suggest that the vertical acceleration which is one of the factors for evaluating seakeeping performance of a ship is to be added in the existing VDR record data recommended by IMO.

  • In vertebrates, the vitamin D receptor (VDR), a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily, binds the biologically active ligand $1{\alpha},25-(OH)_2$-vitamin $D_3$ (1,25 $D_3$). Nearly all vertebrates, including Agnatha, possess a VDR with high ligand selectivity for 1,25 $D_3$ and related metabolites. Although a putative ancestral VDR gene is present in the genome of the chordate invertebrate Ciona intestinalis, the functional characteristics of marine invertebrate VDR are still obscure. To elucidate the ascidian Halocynthia roretzi VDR (HrVDR), we cloned full-length HrVDR cDNA and investigated the transcriptional activity of HrVDR in HEK293 cells. HrVDR consists of 1,680 nucleotides (559 amino acids [aa]), including a short N-terminal region (A/B domain; 26 aa), DNA-binding domain (C domain; 72 aa), hinge region (D domain; 272 aa), and C-terminal ligand-binding domain (E domain; 161 aa). The amino acid sequence identity of HrVDR was greatest to that of C. intestinalis VDR (56%). In the luciferase reporter assays, the transcriptional activity of HrVDR was not significantly increased by 1,25 $D_3$, whereas the farnesoid X receptor agonist GW4064 increased the transactivation of HrVDR. These results suggest the presence of a novel ligand for and a distinct ligand-binding domain in ascidian VDR.

  • The big problem of accidents at sea is negligent watch, it causes collision, fender bender, stranding, rollover, and sinking of fishing vessel. Most accidents happens without an eyewitness, it is difficult to identify the cause of the accident. VDR(: Voyage Data Recorder) is needed to identify a cause of the accident, the VDR is not usually used for fishing vessel because of high cost. Thus, this paper designs and develops a VDR system for fishing vessel. If the system is used, cause of a sea accident can be quickly identified. Also, a VDR system can be used for appropriate measures to fix a cause of the accident. Finally, it also can be helpful to prevent maritime accidents.

  • The paper presents VDR system for efficiency of ocean navigation device and how to output and to save data using this system as well as compressed digital data and analog video output from the camera are utilized at the same time. The compressed digital data is used to store video for VDR device while analog video is used to display on screen in real-time so that VDR system saves the load on SD memory card without navigation terminal and output it with real-time video. Also, the control method using VDR system are proposed for saving and outputting data.

  • This study aims to design a chief VDR(Voyage Data Recorder) system which is appropriate to small and medium sized vessels and also implement the data about marine communication devices, sensors, etc. to be stored or printed at the navigator when those data are connected to VDR through data communication between marine navigation and VDR which are based on serial communication or internet in order to prove efficiency of the marine navigator. Also, the design of VDR is intended to be small and light in order to expand to apply it to small and medium vessels, which enables to analyze causes of marine accidents precisely through its characteristic functions which are the same as those at "vehicle mounted black-box" (location of the car, image and voice storage) by which the same roles are played on land.

  • Chrysin (5,7-dihydroxyflavone) is a natural flavonoid found in various plants and foods such as propolis and honey. It has been reported that chrysin has various biological effects including antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer. In this study, we investigated the effect of chrysin on the transcriptional activity of VDR in human epidermal keratinocytes by performing dual-luciferase assay. Chrysin significantly induced the transcriptional activity of VDR in a concentration-dependent manner. The VDR mRNA expression was investigated by quantitative real time PCR and chrysin increased the VDR mRNA expression in normal human epidermal keratinocytes. We also found that chrysin increased the expression of keratinocyte differentiation markers such as keratin 10, involucrin and filaggrin. Therefore, the results suggest that chrysin can stimulate the differentiation of human keratinocytes by increasing transcriptional activity of VDR.
