CLASSIFICATION OF CLIFFORD ALGEBRAS OF FREE QUADRATIC SPACES OVER FULL RINGS

  • Manddelberg [9] has shown that a Clifford algebra of a free quadratic space over an arbitrary semi-local ring R in Brawer-Wall group BW(R) is determined by its rank, determinant, and Hasse invariant. In this paper, we prove a corresponding result when R is a full ring.Throughout this paper, unless otherwise specified, we assume that R is a commutative ring having 2 a unit. A quadratic space (V, B, .phi.) over R is a finitely generated projective R-module V with a symmetric bilinear mapping B: V*V.rarw.R which is non-degenerate (i.e., the natural mapping V.rarw.Ho $m_{R}$(V,R) induced by B is an isomorphism), and with a quadratic mapping .phi.: V.rarw.R such that B(x,y)=1/2(.phi.(x+y)-.phi.(x)-.phi.(y)) and .phi.(rx) = $r^{2}$.phi.(x) for all x, y in V and r in R. We denote the group of multiplicative units of R by U9R).   • 최근 많은 광대역 유무선 통신 응용분야에서 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 방식을 표준기술로 채택하고 있다. OFDM 방식의 고속 무선 데이터 통신을 위한 FFT 프로세서는 일반적으로 DSP(Digital Signal Processing)로 구현되었으나, 큰 전력 소비를 필요로 한다. 따라서, OFDM 통신방식의 단점인 전력문제를 보완하기 위해서 전류모드 FFT LSI가 제안되었고, 저소비전력 전류모드 FFT LSI를 동작시키기 위해서는 전류모드를 전압모드로 바꾸는 VIC(Voltage to Current Converter) 그리고 다시 전류모드를 전압모드로 바꾸어 주는 IVC(Current to Voltage Converter)가 필요하다. 그러나, OP-AMP로 구현되는 종래의 IVC는 회로규모가 크고, 전력소비가 크며, LSI 내에 크고 정확한 높은 저항을 필요로 한다. 또한 전류모드신호처리에서 많이 이용되는 Current Mirror 회로 등의 출력단자로부터 전류신호를 입력받은 경우, 입력단자간의 전위차가 발생하며, DC offset 전류가 발생하는 등의 문제점을 갖는다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 저전력 동작이 가능하고, 향후, single chip 응용이 가능한 IVC를 $0.35{\mu}m$ 공정에서 설계함으로서, $0.35{\mu}m$ 공정에서의 전류모드 FFT LSI의 전압모드 출력이 가능해졌다 설계된 IVC는 FFT LSI의 출력이 디지털신호로 환산한 ${\pm}1$인 점을 감안하여, 전류모드 FFT LSI의 출력이 $13.65{\mu}A$ 이상일 때에 3.0V의 전압을 출력하고, FFT LSI의 출력이 $0.15{\mu}A$ 이하일 때에 0.5V 이하의 전압을 출력하도록 하였으며, IVC의 총 소비전력은 약 1.65mV이하로 평가되었다.

A Simple Bit Allocation Scheme Based on Grouped Sub-Channels for V-BLAST OFDM Systems (V-BLAST OFDM 시스템을 위한 그룹화된 부채널 기반의 간단한 형태의 비트 할당 기법)

  • In this paper, we present a bit allocation scheme based on grouped sub-channels for MIMO-OFDM (Multiple Input Multiple Output-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) systems using V-BLAST (Vertical-Bell laboratories LAyered Space-Time) detector. A fully adaptive modulation and coding scheme may provide optimal performance in the MIMO-OFDM systems, however it requires excessive feedback information. Instead, SBA (Simplified Bit Allocation) scheme for reduction of feedback overhead, which applies the same modulation and coding to all the good sub-channels, may be considered. The proposed scheme in this paper named SBA-GS (Simplified Bit Allocation based on Grouped Sub-channels) groups sub-channels and assigns the same modulation and coding to the set of selected sub-channel groups. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves comparable bit error rate performance of the conventional SBA scheme, while significantly reducing the feedback overhead in multipath channels with small delay spreads.

Partially Balanced Resolution IV' Designs in a 2^m-Factorial

  • Srivastava and Anderson(1970) illustrate a method of obtaining Balanced (but not orthogonal) Resolution $IV^*$ designs starting with a BIB design. The incidence matrix of a BIB design with parameters (v, b, r, k, and $\lambda$) is utilized to obtain Balanced Resolution $IV^*$ designs with m factors and n=2b runs, where $m \leq v$. In this paper, the same idea is extended to the case of PBIB designs to obtain Partially Balanced Resolution $IV^*$ designs. In the designs obtained here the variances are balanced and the covariances are partially balanced with respect to the main effects. A proof of this property of Partially Balanced Resoultion $IV^*$ designs is given. The efficiency of Partially Balanced Resolution $IV^*$ designs is also considered and examples of Partially Balanced Resoultion $IV^*$ designs are included.

  • This paper describes the shape optimization of impeller blades for an anti-heeling bidirectional axial flow pump used in ships. In general, a bidirectional axial pump has efficiency much lower than that of a classical unidirectional pump because of the symmetry of the blade type. In this study, by focusing on a pump impeller, the shape of the blades is redesigned to develop a bidirectional axial pump with higher efficiency. The commercial code employed in this simulation is CFX v.13. The CFD result of the pump torque, head, and hydraulic efficiency was compared. The orthogonal array (OA) and analysis of variance (ANOVA) techniques and surrogate-model-based optimization using orthogonal polynomials are employed to determine the main effects and their optimal design variables. According to the optimal design, we confirm an effective design variable for impeller blades and explain the optimal solution as well as the usefulness of satisfying the constraints of the pump torque and head.

  • This paper presents the architecture and the implementation of a 2K/4K/8K-point complex Fast Fourier Transform(FFT) processor for Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system. The architecture is based on the Cooley-Tukey algorithm for decomposing the long DFT into short length multi-dimensional DFTs. The transposition memory, shuffle memory, and memory mergence method are used for the efficient manipulation of data for multi-dimensional transforms. Booth algorithm and the COordinate Rotation DIgital Computer(CORDIC) processor are employed for the twiddle factor multiplications in each dimension. Also, for the CORDIC processor, a new twiddle factor generation method is proposed to obviate the ROM required for storing the twiddle factors. The overall 2K/4K/8K-FFT processor requires 600,000 gates, and it is implemented in 1.8 V, 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS. The processor can perform 8K-point FFT in every 273 ${\mu}s$, 2K-point every 68.26 ${\mu}s$ at 30MHz, and the SNR is over 48dB, which are enough performances for the OFDM in DVB-T.

Analysis on the Positional Accuracy of the Non-orthogonal Two-pair kV Imaging Systems for Real-time Tumor Tracking Using XCAT (XCAT를 이용한 실시간 종양 위치 추적을 위한 비직교 스테레오 엑스선 영상시스템에서의 위치 추정 정확도 분석에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we aim to design the architecture of the kV imaging system for tumor tracking in the dual-head gantry system and analyze its accuracy by simulations. We established mathematical formulas and algorithms to track the tumor position with the two-pair kV imaging systems when they are in the non-orthogonal positions. The algorithms have been designed in the homogeneous coordinate framework and the position of the source and the detector coordinates are used to estimate the tumor position. 4D XCAT (4D extended cardiac-torso) software was used in the simulation to identify the influence of the angle between the two-pair kV imaging systems and the resolution of the detectors to the accuracy in the position estimation. A metal marker fiducial has been inserted in a numerical human phantom of XCAT and the kV projections were acquired at various angles and resolutions using CT projection software of the XCAT. As a result, a positional accuracy of less than about 1mm was achieved when the resolution of the detector is higher than 1.5 mm/pixel and the angle between the kV imaging systems is approximately between $90^{\circ}$ and $50^{\circ}$. When the resolution is lower than 1.5 mm/pixel, the positional errors were higher than 1mm and the error fluctuation by the angles was greater. The resolution of the detector was critical in the positional accuracy for the tumor tracking and determines the range for the acceptable angle range between the kV imaging systems. Also, we found that the positional accuracy analysis method using XCAT developed in this study is highly useful and will be a invaluable tool for further refined design of the kV imaging systems for tumor tracking systems.

  • V2I(Vehicular to Infrastructure) is a one kind of communication systems which is used between the base stations and mobile objects. In V2I communication system, it is difficult to obtain the desired communication performance. Beamforming technology is to find the optimal path. and it can be improved the communication performance. MUSIC algorithm can be estimated the direction of arrival. The directional vector of received signals and the eigenvector has orthogonal property. MUSIC algorithm uses this property. In V2I communication environment, real time optimal path is changed. By the high computational complexity of the MUSIC algorithm, the optimal path estimation error is generated. In this paper, we propose a method of computation reduction algorithm for MUSIC algorithm.

OFDM의 단점인 전력문제를 보안하기 위해서 Current-mode FFT LSI가 제안되었다. 본 논문에서는 Current-mode FFT LSI의 구현을 위한 저전력 IVC를 설계하였다. 설계된 IVC는 FFT Block의 출력이 $13.65{\mu}A$ 이상일 때에 3V 이상의 전압을 출력하고, FFT Block의 출력이 $0.15{\mu}A$ 이하일 때에 0.5V 이하의 전압을 출력한다. 그리고 IVC의 총 소모전력은 약 1.65mW이다. $0.35{\mu}A$ 공정에서의 저전력 IVC를 설계함으로서, $0.35{\mu}A$ 공정에서의 Current-mode FFT LSI의 설계가 가능해졌다. 저전력 OFDM 통신용 Current-mode FFT LSI는 무선통신의 발전에 기여할 것으로 전망한다.

Optimization of Lipid Extraction from Scenedesmus sp. Using Taguchi Approach (Scenedesmus sp.로부터 Taguchi 법을 이용한 지방추출의 최적화)

  • For the biodiesel fuel production from microalgae, the lipid from wet and dry samples of green algae Scenedesmus sp. was extracted by using various solvents and pre-treatment methods. Extraction yield of the lyophilized sample was better than that of dry sample. Chloroform/methanol (2:1, v/v) and ultrasonication or homogenization method were also selected as the most effective solvent and pre-treatment methods for lipid extraction, respectively. Under these constraint conditions, optimization experiment of lipid extraction was investigated by Taguchi approach using orthogonal matrix $L_9$ ($3^4$) method. The optimum extraction conditions of lipid extraction was obtained at pre-treatment of homogenization, extraction time of 5 hour, temperature of $35^{\circ}C$, and solvent ratio of 1:20 (w/v). Yield of extraction at optimized condition was 20.55% and it was 96% of total lipid content (21.38%) of Scenedesmus sp.
