Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are compact nuclear reactors designed to generate electric power up to 300 MWe. They could be assembled in factory, and then transported to be directly installed on-stie. CAREM (Central Argentina de Elementos Modulares) is a national SMR development project, based on light water reactor technology supervised by Argentina's National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA). It is a natural circulation-based SMR with an indirect-cycle, including specific items and parts that simplify the design and improve safety performance. In this paper, the thermal-hydraulic study of CAREM-25 advanced small modular reactor is conducted by using COBRA-EN modified code and the Porous Media Approach (PMA) for the first time. According to PMA approach, each fuel assembly is modeled and divided into a network of lumped regions. While complex geometries are defined, the thermal-hydraulic parameters such as temperature and density are calculated for coolant and fuel rods. The obtained results show that the temperature in the fuel center may reach a peak around 1280 K in the hottest fuel assembly. Finally, the comparison of results from both methods (modified COBRA-EN and PMA) presented an appropriate consistency.
The Internet of Things (IoT) technology is rapidly developing in recent years, and is applicable to various fields. A smart factory is one wherein all the components are organically connected to each other via a WSN, using an intelligent operating system and the IoT. A smart factory technology is used for flexible process automation and custom manufacturing, and hence needs adaptive network management for frequent network fluctuations. Moreover, ensuring the timeliness of the data collected through sensor nodes is crucial. In order to ensure network timeliness, the power consumption for information exchange increases. In this paper, we propose an IEEE 802.15.4e DSME-based distributed scheduling algorithm for mobility support, and we evaluate various performance metrics. The proposed algorithm adaptively assigns communication slots by analyzing the network traffic of each node, and improves the network reliability and timeliness. The experimental results indicate that the throughput of the DSME MAC protocol is better than the IEEE 802.15.4e TSCH and the legacy slotted CSMA/CA in large networks with more than 30 nodes. Also, the proposed algorithm improves the throughput by 15%, higher than other MACs including the original DSME. Experimentally, we confirm that the algorithm reduces power consumption by improving the availability of communication slots. The proposed algorithm improves the power consumption by 40%, higher than other MACs.
Informal engineering education program for high school students was developed to cultivate engineering literacy using the human resources and facilities of university. Plant factory, a smart farming technology, was selected as a main theme, and the novel engineering camp program involving engineering design activities and intra-linter-team works was planned. The camp program was applied to 38 high school students in an active learning classroom. Five teams were constructed according to elemental technologies such as biotechnology, information-communication technology, energy engineering, mechanical engineering and architectural engineering, and the students were participated in intra- and inter-team activities to achieve the final goal of 'the construction of a plant factory in school'. The team works were conducted according to the eight steps of engineering design process (identifying the problem and need, identifying criteria and constraints, brainstorming possible solutions, selecting the best possible solution, constructing a prototype, testing and evaluating the solution, communicating the solution, and refining design). Participants' satisfaction survey showed that the satisfaction on the contents of engineering design was 4.48 on 5-point Likert scale. The participants' satisfaction on creative activity and systematic methodology was 4.43 on 5-point Likert scale. 97% of participants responded positively to team works, and 92% of participants were satisfied with career mentoring activity supplied by undergraduate/graduate students. These results indicates that the engineering camp program involving engineering design activity and intra-/inter-team works can contribute to cultivate engineering literacy such as creativity, problem solving ability, collaboration, communication skills for high school students, and to increase their interests in engineering fields.

For extrusion processes in the process industry, the need to build smart factories is increasing. However, in most extrusion production sites, the production method is continuous, and because the properties of the data are undeed, it is difficult to process the data. In order to solve this problem, we present a methodology utilizing a near field communication (NFC) sensor rather than water-based data entry. To this end, a wireless network environment was built, and a data management method was designed. A non-contact NFC method was studied for the production performance-data input method, and an analysis method was implemented using the pivot function of the Excel program. As a result, data input using NFC was automated, obtaining a quantitative effect from reducing the operator's data processing time. In addition, using the input data, we present a case where a bottleneck is improved due to quality problems.
Korea has high quality level of ICT Technologies, however it still have a long way to go before invigoration of ICT in agriculture industry. The government of Korea supply to agriculture ICT systems, however these are the enclosed type and insufficient the level of connectivity, compatibility, and integrity between ICT systems. Farmers can not share crop information and one system can not use with others in combination. Recently, IoT(Internet of Things) become popular to emphasize the vision of a global internet and ICT industry. The IoT is a critical technology that leads future internet generation. We believe that IoT will change status of agriculture industry and appearance of various agriculture business model. Using IoT technology is provided a platform of opportunities to optimize work processes and efficient use of energy, time and labour in farm. It can automatically control temperature, humidity, sunshine system and so on for optimal growth conditions at greenhouse and plant factory. Growth setting can even be controlled and monitored crop condition and disease by a smartphone app or PC. It is possible to improve quality of farming and farm product. We suggest that construction of IoT platform through open API in agriculture industry.
Software-related training can be considered essential in situations where software is an important factor in national innovation, growth and value creation. As one of the implementation methods for engineering education, various education through virtual simulations that can educate difficult situations in a similar environment are being conducted. Recently, the construction of smart factories at production and manufacturing sites is spreading, and product inspections using vision systems are being conducted. However, it has many difficulties due to lack of operation technology of vision system, but it requires a lot of cost to construct the system for education of vision system. In this paper, provide an educational virtual simulation model that integrates computer and physics engine camera functions and can extract and transmit video. It is possible to generate an image of 30Hz or more at an average of 35.4FPS of the experimental results of the proposed model, and it is possible to send and receive images in a time of 22.7ms, which can be utilized in an educational virtual simulation educational environment.

Korean automobile industry has been slow down since 2016. The most fundamental solution for solving this problem is to develop competitive parts. There are two important factors for developing competitive parts. The most important is product design technology, and the second most important is production technology. Production technology is important because it requires lowering the production cost except for the material cost and continuously maintaining the quality. In this paper, an intelligent smart inspection system is proposed and designed to inspect automobile parts of company C. At present, the basic and detailed design of this system has been completed and it is in the development progress stage. If the system is successfully developed, it is expected that the quality inspection stage of company C will be automated and the defect rate will be reduced.

Due to the development of IT technology, hardware technologies applied to IoT equipment have recently been developed, so smart systems using low-cost, high-performance RF and computing devices are being developed. However, in the infrastructure environment where a large amount of IoT devices are installed, big data collection causes a load on the collection server due to a bottleneck between the transmitted data. As a result, data transmitted to the data collection server causes packet loss and reduced data throughput. Therefore, there is a need for an efficient big data collection technique in an infrastructure environment where a large amount of IoT devices are installed. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an efficient big data collection technique in an infrastructure environment where a vast amount of IoT devices are installed. As a result of the performance evaluation, the packet loss and data throughput of the proposed technique are completed without loss of the transmitted file. In the future, the system needs to be implemented based on this design.

This paper aims to show that cooperative robots, which have only been used in manufacturing sites, are expanding their scope of use in daily living spaces due to the expansion of non-face-to-face services. By combining robots and IoT technologies in terms of diversifying services in daily life and customized service areas, it is expected that the general public will also have easy access to smart technologies, and these technologies will be used in more areas. The robot barista system will provide customers with the services they want, monitoring, maintenance, and management of the system, making this paper convenient for customers, as well as managers who run stores, maintenance and repair, and engineers who design the system. This paper attempts to demonstrate this through a structure called Robopresso.

In this paper, we propose an example of designing and constructing a roof-type solar power plant structure equipped with a Pseudo-BIPV (Building-Integrated Photovoltaic) shape suitable for use as a roof of a small warehouse with a sandwich-type panel structure. As the characteristics of the roof-type solar power generation facility to be installed in the small warehouse proposed in this study, the shape of the roof is not a general A type, but a right-angled triangle shape with the slope is designed to face south. We chose a structure in which an inverter for one power plant and a control facility are linked by grouping several roofs of buildings. In addition, the height of the roof structure is less than 20 cm from the floor, and it has a shape similar to that of the BIPV, so it is building-friendly because it is almost in close contact with the roof. At the same time, the roof creates a reflective light source due to the white color. By linking this roof with a double-sided solar panel, we designed it to obtain both the advantage of the roof-friendliness and the advantage of efficiency improvement for the electric power generation based on the double-sided panel. Compared to the existing solar power generation facilities using A-shaped cross-sectional modules, the power generation efficiency of roofs in this case is increased by more than 11%, which we can confirm, through the comparison analysis of monitoring data between power plants in the same area. Therefore, if the roof-type solar structure suitable for the small warehouse we have presented in this paper is used, the facilities of electric power generation is eco-friendly. Further it is easier to obtain facility certification compared to the BIPV, and improved capacity of the power generation can be secured at low material cost. It is believed that the roof-type solar power generation facility we proposed can be usefully used for warehouse or factory-based smart housing. Sensor devices for monitoring, CCTV monitoring, or safety and environment management, operating in connection with the solar power generation facilities, are linked with the Internet of Things (IoT) solution, so they can be monitored and controlled remotely.
