In this paper, actual didactical transposition and dramatization of designing patterns presented in 4th grade mathematics curriculum is critically reviewed. Patterns in designing patterns are not wallpaper patterns generally. The method of designing new patterns using unit given pattern are not the same as the method of designing wallpaper patterns. In the viewpoint of not designing wallpaper patterns, the context of designing new patterns using unit given pattern is said to be putting transparent stickers. In this paper, on the premise of this characteristics, the shape of unit given pattern, the method of designing new patterns using unit given pattern, and the rule of putting unit given patterns continually are critically discussed. The shape of unit given pattern have to be square actually. In designing new patterns using unit given pattern, if the regularities of designing new patterns can be presented, any regularity is fine. Even though the relationship between new patterns and wallpapers designed by using unit given pattern is not clear, in that these two patterns can not be unrelated, designing new patterns using unit given pattern could be an example of wrong elementarization(Freudenthal, 1973).

A simple method for the fabrication of 3D micro-nano hybrid patterns was presented. In conventional fabrication methods of the micro-nano hybrid patterns, micro-patterns were firstly fabricated and then nano-patterns were formatted on the micro-patterns. Moreover, these micro-nano hybrid patterns could be fabricated on the flat substrate. In this paper, we suggested the fabrication method of 3D micro-nano hybrid patterns using micro-indentation on the anodized aluminum substrate. Since diameter of the hemispherical nano-pattern can be controlled by electrolyte and applied voltage in the anodizing process, we can easily fabricated nano-patterns of diameter of loom to 300nm. Nano-patterns were firstly formatted on the aluminum substrate, and then micro-patterns were fabricated by deforming the nano-patterned aluminum substrate. Hemispherical nano-patterns of diameter of 150nm were fabricated by anodizing process, and then micro-pyramid patterns of the side-length of $50{\mu}m$ were formatted on the nano-patterns using micro-indentation. Finally we successfully replicated 3D micro-nano hybrid patterns by hot-embossing process. 3D micro-nano hybrid patterns can be applied to nano-photonic device and nano-biochip application.
The writer did a survey of current textile patterns for the purpose of identifying a motif trend. After identifying a current motif trend the writer used an IBM PC 386 Computer and Lumena Software to design actual patterns. The results are as follows: 1. The most common currently used prints are floral patterns. 2. Knowing that floral patterns are most popular, the writer established a motif using the Rose of Sharon, the national flower of Korea. 3. Using computer graphics to move, enlarge and scale-down motif, the writer has been able to design various textile patterns. 4. Creating patterns with computer graphics was not only more efficient, but it also produced more accurate designs and a greater variety of designs. 5. Using the many computer graphic functions avaliable, a greater variety of patterns changes and compositions can be displayed than would be possible if produce by hand. 6. Computer simulations of textiles and clothing made it possible to evaluate the printed fabric or finished product. Faults in the printed fabric or clothing could be corrented before production. Through simulation then it is possible to create higher quality garments and readuce costly mistakes. Thereby greater profits will be realized from the finished garments.
The purpose of this study is to link the Yi tribe's traditional patterns to bag design. Yi tribe is a minor ethic group in China, whose traditional pattern has a high artistic value in that its shapes are diverse and each one has peculiar elegance. Traditional patterns are also indicative of spiritual dept or symbolic stories, rather than being indicative of simple formative beauty. Thus, reorganizing these patterns and applying them artistically to design- in terms of resource utilization- would be significant. Out of all of the Yi tribe's traditional patterns, the cherry blossom_(马樱花), water wave_(水波), sky father and earth mother_(天父地母), pomegranate blossom, triangle, sheep' horn, wisteria vine_(藤条), square and diaper_(四角菱形) and the zigzag_(曲折) patterns were chosen for use during the development of a bag design. This study is based upon document study, including research papers and internet web sites, the point of which was to investigate the form of the traditional patterns, and the creative design process. The design procedure includes these sub-processes: selection, arrangement and color-scheme. In the selection process, the form of the pattern was edited using Adobe Photoshop. The pattern was freely arranged to reflect various emotions. In terms of the color-scheme of the patterns, the colors used by Henri Matisse(1869-1954) in his work were selected and adapted when dyeing the patterns. Subsequently, the final design resulting from these design development processes was applied to the actual production of the bag by using canvas fabric and leather, after which the bag image was proposed using computer simulation. In conclusion, six bag designs were created using traditional patterns from the Yi tribe. Through the processes explained above, this study confirmed that traditional patterns could be widely applied as design motifs and that more sophisticated, modern, and creative designs could be developed based on traditional patterns.

Direct fabrication of nano patterns has been studied employing a nano-stereolithography (NSL) process. The needs of nano patterning techniques have been intensively increased for diverse applications for nano/micro-devices; micro-fluidic channels, micro-molds. and other novel micro-objects. For fabrication of high-aspect-ratio (HAR) patterns, a thick spin coating of SU-8 process is generally used in the conventional photolithography, however, additional processes such as pre- and post-baking processes and expansive precise photomasks are inevitably required. In this work, direct fabrication of HAR patterns with a high spatial resolution is tried employing two-photon polymerization in the NSL process. The precision and aspect ratio of patterns can be controlled using process parameters of laser power, exposure time, and numerical aperture of objective lens. It is also feasible to control the aspect ratio of patterns by truncation amounts of patterns, and a layer-by-layer piling up technique is attempted to achieve HAR patterns. Through the fabrication of several patterns using the NSL process, the possibility of effective patterning technique fer various N/MEMS applications has been demonstrated.

This paper suggests a method to recognize the various defect patterns of a cold mill strip using a binary decision tree automatically constructed by a genetic algorithm(GA). In classifying complex patterns with high similarity like the defect patterns of a cold mill stirp, the selection of an optimal feature set and an appropriate recognizer is important to achieve high recognition rate. In this paper a GA is used to select a subset of the suitable features at each node in the binary decision tree. The feature subset with maximum fitness is chosen and the patterns are classified into two classes using a linear decision function. This process is repeated at each node until all the patterns are classified into individual classes. In this way, the classifier using the binary decision tree is constructed automatically. After constructing the binary decision tree, the final recognizer is accomplished by having neural network learning sits of standard patterns at each node. In this paper, the classifier using the binary decision tree is applied to the recognition of defect patterns of a cold mill strip, and the experimental results are given to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed scheme.

In this study, we fabricated the master metallic nano-stamper with nano pillar patterns to apply replication processes which is adequate for mass production. Master nano patterns with various hole diameters between 300 nm and 1000 nm was fabricated by e-beam lithography. After the seed layer was deposited on the master nano patterns using e-beam evaporation, the nickel was electroformed. In each step, the shape and surface roughness of their patterns were analyzed using SEM and AFM.
The purpose of this study is to design t-shirts by using doggaebi patterns as traditional cultural products. Byuksa has the meaning of keeping away wicked spirits and to receiving good fortune. Most of the pictures of magpies, tigers, dragons, hawks, and roosters contain the meaning of protection and the doggaebi pattern is a typical Byuksa pattern. By way of example of product development, this study will develop designs by using doggaebi patterns and promote beautiful Korean traditional patterns as well as Korean traditional culture. The reason for choosing the T-shirt is because T-shirts are a basic item that all people have and wear, so Koreans and foreigners get interested in them and buy them. This study presents designs for 5 kinds of t-shirts for adults and another five kinds for kids using doggaebi patterns. This study was limited to the doggaebi pattern, so it is expected more studies about patterns and many cultural products will develop.

In this paper, cavitation patterns of model tests were compared with those of full-scale measurement for a propeller of crude oil carrier which was suffered from erosions on suction side of blade tip region. Cavitation tests were performed at design and ballast draft using model and full scale nominal wakes. A model ship and wire mesh method was used for the simulation of wake patterns of model nominal wakes. For the prediction of full-scale wake patterns, a RANS solver(Fluent 6.3) was used and wire mesh method was used for the simulation of the full scale wakes. Comparison results show that cavitation patterns using predicted full-scale wake patterns are closer to cavitation patterns of full-scale measurement at ballast draft condition. Also, cloud cavitations were observed on the position of eroded area at both full-scale measurement and cavitation tests using simulated full-scale wake patterns.
