A Fusion of Data Mining Techniques for Predicting Movement of Mobile Users

  • Predicting locations of users with portable devices such as IP phones, smart-phones, iPads and iPods in public wireless local area networks (WLANs) plays a crucial role in location management and network resource allocation. Many techniques in machine learning and data mining, such as sequential pattern mining and clustering, have been widely used. However, these approaches have two deficiencies. First, because they are based on profiles of individual mobility behaviors, a sequential pattern technique may fail to predict new users or users with movement on novel paths. Second, using similar mobility behaviors in a cluster for predicting the movement of users may cause significant degradation in accuracy owing to indistinguishable regular movement and random movement. In this paper, we propose a novel fusion technique that utilizes mobility rules discovered from multiple similar users by combining clustering and sequential pattern mining. The proposed technique with two algorithms, named the clustering-based-sequential-pattern-mining (CSPM) and sequential-pattern-mining-based-clustering (SPMC), can deal with the lack of information in a personal profile and avoid some noise due to random movements by users. Experimental results show that our approach outperforms existing approaches in terms of efficiency and prediction accuracy.

호텔 실내공간 색채이미지에 대한 이용자의 감정과 행동의 관계 (A Study on the Relationship Between Emotion and Behavior of User's with the Color Images of Indoor Space in Hotels)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze relationship between emotion and behavior with the color images of indoor space in hotels. The study methods evaluation experiments of emotion and behavior with computer graphic images. Study results are as follows: First, The color image according to the indoor space had a significant influence on the user's emotions. Lobby and restaurant had difference in pleasure arousal emotion by color image, and also guest room had difference in pleasure dominance emotion by color image. Second, The color image according to the indoor space had a significant influence on the user's behavior. Also lobby and restaurant had difference in movement hobby eating resting behavior by color image, and guest room had difference in hobby eating resting behavior by color image. Third, As a result of analyzing the effect of user's emotions on the behavior according to the indoor space: In the lobby, the more un-arousal increasing of users, the more hobby resting behavior increasing. And the more dominance increasing of users, the more movement hobby eating resting behavior increasing. In the restaurant, the more dominance increasing of users, the more movement eating hobby behavior increasing. The more arousal increasing of users, the more movement resting behavior increasing. The more un-arousal increasing of users, the more hobby eating behavior increasing. In the guest room, the more un-arousal dominance increasing of users, the more hobby eating resting behavior increasing. And also the more arousal increasing of users, the more movement behavior increasing.

  • The relationship between architects and users has been multifarioiusly changed through architectural history. From the viewpoint of using a building, users who experience and interpret the building are as important as architects who design it. In the past, architects are not interested in the role of users. Modern architects only emphasized the concepts of users based on efficiency, and therefore users had the passive role following the design intentions in the space architects had created. However, since the end of modern movement, diverse definitions of users have been attempted. Especially the aesthetics of reception reilluminates the role of users neglected in modern movement. Therefore the one-way relationship between architects-buildings are changing into the interactive relationship between architects-buildings-users, and it results from the fact that users have the ability to reinterpret and create architectural space as well. Users have more creative and positive role in architectural space making and architects, too, reflect these trend in their architecture.

The Kinetography Model - a Mean of Producing Space Scores, Based on Recording Users' Movement in Space

  • When one enters a space, perceives the material geometry of that space. Walking inside buildings or across the city is generating a geometry of moving bodies that fills the space. These two geometries coexist: a static geometry of the space and an invisible one of the moving bodies. The space that we actually experience, whether interior or exterior, is a continuous network of voids. Individuals' movement will fill the network of voids that we understand as "the city". Our environment of voids and borders is organized by the means of architecture and urbanism. The geometry generated by motion affects both the limits and the voids, thus space can be defined by the tandem of the moving bodies and their environment. We propose in this study a mean of investigating users' movement and thus understanding the qualities of space while introducing the concept of space scores as analytical maps and design tools.

지오트윗 사용자의 이동 특성 분석에 관한 연구: 국내 이동과 해외 이동 비교 연구 (A Study on the Movement Characteristics of Geotweet Users: A Comparative Study on Domestic and International Movements)

  • 본 연구는 국가 간 이동이 발생한 지오트윗 사용자를 이동거리평균과 이동거리표준편차에 따라 그룹화하여, 국가 간 이동과 자국 내 이동에서 나타나는 특징을 발견하고 연구의 의의를 찾고자 하였다. 데이터마트를 구축 후 국가 간 이동과 자국 내 이동이 발생한 지오트윗을 분리하였고, 해버사인공식을 이용해 사용자의 이동거리를 측정하였다. 국가 간 이동 집단에서는 동일한 언어를 사용하며 생활방식이 비슷한 국가 사이에서 많이 이동하였고, 자국 내 이동에서는 인프라가 잘 구축된 선진국 위주의 국가에서 많은 이동이 발생하였다. 본 연구는 사용자별 이동거리를 계산하여 공통된 특징을 도출하고자 하였으며, 사용자의 이동거리 특성에 따라 그룹화하였다. 본 연구에서 분석한 21개국은 국가별 경제력이나 나이, 직업 등에서 차이가 커 많은 제반 사항이 고려되어야 정밀한 분석이 가능할 것이다. 향후에는 현실적인 사항을 추가한 연구가 진행되어야 할 것이다.

셀룰러 망에서 프로파일 기반 위치관리를 위한 위치영역 리스트 생성 (Location Area List Generation for Profile Based Location Management in Cellular Networks)

  • 이동망의 위치관리에서 위치갱신 비용 최소화를 위한 많은 연구 결과들이 있다. 위치갱신 비용의 최소화를 위해서는 각 사용자들의 이동 패턴을 고려해야만 한다. 본 논문은 과거의 사용자 이동에 대한 이력으로부터 각 사용자에 대한 위치영역 리스트 생성과 이를 위한 3 단계 페이징 방안을 제안한다. 사용자의 이동은 공간적으로 뿐만 아니라 시간적으로도 규칙적인 패턴이 존재한다. 따라서 제안된 위치영역 리스트 생성방안은 이상의 2가지 측면에서 사용자의 방문빈도를 이용하여 규칙성을 발견하고, 이에 대한 위치영역리스트를 생성한다. 제안된 방안의 성능분석 위해서 제안된 방안에 대하여 사용자 이동 패턴을 고려한 모의실험을 수행하였다. 모의실험 결과 제안된 방안이 위치관리 비용 측면에서 장점이 있음이 확인되었다.

  • 본 연구는 공공도서관에서의 독서운동, 어떻게 할 것인가에 대하여 연구하고, 누가, 어떻게 할 것인지를 조사하여 공공도서관에서의 독서운동에 대한 방향을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 공공도서관의 독서운동은 도서관장을 중심으로 담당사서가 이용자를 위한 독서 프로그램을 개발하여 지속적으로 전개해야 한다.

3D 게임에서 '비행' 행위에 대한 사용자의 반응 연구 -3D MMORPG Aion을 중심으로- (A Study on the User's Response to the Flight Action in 3D Game -Focused on 3D MMORPG Aion-)

  • 본 연구는 3D게임의 완성도와 사용자의 플레이 욕구를 높이기 위해 다양한 몰입요소들 중 사용자 이동시스템을 서비스하고 있는 게임에서 이동수단의 하나인 '비행' 행위에 따른 사용자의 심리적 반응을 분석하였다. 게임 내 이동시스템 종류인 포탈, 탑승물, 소환, 추적 등의 사용자 이동 구도를 살펴보고, 비행시스템이 존재하는 게임에서 사용자들에 미치는 영향과 기준을 통해 Aion 게임을 대상으로 객관적인 설문통계 방법을 이용하여 비행 이동이 사용자들에게 심리적으로 미치는 영향과 요인들에 대해 분석하였다. 그렇게 분석된 결과를 토대로 게임에서의 비행 이동이라는 요소, 각 게임 별 비행 이동시스템 구조와 각 배경그래픽이 게임 사용자의 심리적 행동이나 반응 요소, 사용자가 게임 속 가상세계의 지형에 따른 비행을 하고 싶은 충동성, 비행 시스템에 대한 사용자의 의존성 그리고 비행과정에서의 비행 행동과 배경이 되는 가상세계의 표현 수준에 따른 몰입감(沒入感) 등의 특징을 밝혀낼 수 있었으며, 이용시간, 연령층, 레벨에 따라 비행행동 반응에 차이가 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • The objective of this paper is to develop a powered wheelchair controller based on EMG for users with high-level spinal cord injury. EMG is very naturally measured when the user Indicating a certain direction, and the force information which will be used for the speed of wheelchair is easily extracted from EMG. Furthermore, the emergency situation based on EMG will be checked relatively ease. We classified the pre-defined motions such as rest case, forward movement, left movement, and right movement by Fuzzy Min-Max Neural Networks (FMMNN). 도서원현상을 통해 본 공공도서관 이용자에 대한 인식의 문제 (Problems in defining public library users as viewed through the 'book-room' phenomenon in Pusan)

  • This study, that is made by an on-the-spot survey and a library survey, is aimed at finding some problems in the recognition regarding public library users and suggesting the clue to solve the problems revealed in the way of having compared with 'Book-Room' and Public Library. Poor material was always a troublemaker in this study. Especially the part of 'Book-Room' phenomenon is wholly dependent upon a field survey, that is, interview with a 'book-room' clerks, gathering the advertising leaflets, a close observation on 'Book-Room', etc. There are little printed materials, much less precedent research theses. In the other parts of this paper, there are needed good statistical materials, but the nortion presented in the public library user statistics-for example pupil, students, housewives, old men, the generality of people, etc.- is so vague that it is insufficient and unhelpful for this study. In my judgment, with all these limitations, this article gets some results as follows : 1. 'Book-Room' is the cultural organization which is being operated by, for, of the community inhabitants and it takes on the character of movement - labor movement, cultural movement, and community movement. 2. The pioneer of the Book-Room is 'Yangso Hyupdong chohap' (which means good book- cooperative association) lasted from 1978 to the next year. 3. 'Arom'(means learning) Book-Room is the first real Book-Room at Seomyon district in Pusan established in 1987. 4. Book-Room can be classified by its character as 'Labor BookRoom' and 'Cultural Book-Room'. There are 10 Labor BookRooms and 4 Cultural Book-Rooms in Pusan. 5. Labor Book-Rooms organized themselves to 'Labor Book-Room conference'. 6. Book-Rooms have done their best to extort the needs and interests of the community inhabitants, but relatively public libraries do not, hence the majority of residents are neglected from the public library service. This is at Book-Rooms' back to have been spread so quickly. 7. There is a very large gap between the component ratio of community inhabitants by class and that of public library users by same criterion, that is, in the case of the former, the labor class goes beyond a half point, in the latter, the majority of public library user is composed of students and housewives. 8. Researchers and librarians have concentrated their attention and effort not upon whole residents in community but upon existing users at present time. They do not try to develope potential users. So, researchers' and librarians' recognition regarding the public library users needs to be changed. 9. The concept of 'core-user' may be the key to solve the problems related with public library users. For the purpose of ensuring the 'core-user', it is necessary to study the community and inhabitants.
