이 연구는 도서관목록이 이용자 친화적으로 발전하기 위해서는 이용자들의 정보요구에 기반 해야 함을 전제로 두고, 이용자 요구 기반 도서관목록의 모습을 제안하고 실제 구현 가능성을 점검해 보는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 이 연구에서는 (1) 이용자들의 정보요구와 정보탐색행태에 대해서 자세히 살펴보고, (2) 이용자 요구 분석의 결과를 토대로 도서관목록을 직접 구현한 뒤, (3) 이용자들의 만족도 평가를 통해 이 연구에서 제안한 도서관목록의 유용성을 도출하였다. 나아가 (4) 연구의 전 과정을 진행하면서 봉착했던 어려움과 한계를 논의하면서 이용자 요구 기반의 도서관목록을 구현하고자 할 때 선행되어야 할 과제에 대해서 논의하였다.

While numerous studies have suggested the significance of uncertainty during the process of information-seeking, less research has investigated user uncertainty in the actual search process using a real system. This study investigated user perceptions of uncertainty in the process of the selection of information retrieval system in the real information-seeking process. Considering the role of commercial Web search engines as supplementary tools for traditional bibliographic databases in academic research environments, this study analyzed the selection behavior of scholarly researchers, who use such search tools for their academic study. The researchers were limited to the discipline of science in order to understand user perceptions in this field. The findings revealed various dimensions, types, and incidents of uncertainty. Variations appeared in different incidents of uncertainty relating to the unique characteristics of the subjects' information-seeking context. The identification of three principal origins of uncertainty based on the different types of uncertainty generated implications to improve information systems and services.

새로운 정보검색 환경인 인터넷에서의 정보검색은 과거의 정보검색행위와는 여러 면에서 다르다. 인터넷 이용자들은 과거의 정보 이용자와는 다른 행동 양식을 보이고 있기 때문에 보다 나은 서비스를 제공하기 위해서 인터넷 검색 시스템은 새로운 이용자들의 특성을 제대로 반영하여야 한다. 정보 수요자인 인터넷 이용자들의 검색 행동 성향을 조사, 분석하는 과정을 통해 이용자들의 요구사항을 파악하고, 이를 통하여 인터넷 기반 정보검색시스템 설계를 위한 가이드라인을 제시하고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is offering appropriate system and training program to helf the system designer and the trainer in addition to analyze information use behavior about the web search tools and evaluate the estimated system by user groups. The results of the study are as follows $\circledS1$ It is desirable to consider age than other demographic variables in the case of web search tool. $\circledS2$ It is desirable to design Directory Search Tool in the case of web search tool which serves the student user group. $\circledS3$ An Intelligent Search Tool is more appropriate for the students who are using keyword search tool than any other tools. $\circledS4$ A discussion about standard classification of the web information should be accomplished soon because users feel confused in using web search tools due t o absence of standard mode of classification about classified item. $\circledS5$ Librarians need the cognition about data on internet s a source of information and need positive service and user training program about these information because student users hardly get help from librarians or library orientation for learning method to use web search tool. $\circledS6$ Internet use experience and years of computer use had effect on their use ability when using web search tool, whereas computer use experience, library use experience and Online Public Access Catalogs (OPAC) use experience had no effect on it. Especially, OPAC use experience had no effect on use ability of web search tool of student user group because student user groups had no information about internet and web search tool and they did not recognized the difference about search method between web search tool and OPAC. $\circledS7$In the case of web search tool, it si important to index the increasing web resource automatically by a searching robot. But in the case of student users, web search tool is much more needed to index by index expert due to the absence of ability about selecting and combining keyword.

본 연구는 간호학과 학생들의 그룹과제 시 협동적 정보행태에서 나타나는 만족도 및 정서적 경험 등을 설문조사하여 이들의 관계에 대해 종합적으로 분석해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 이용자들의 협동적 정보검색에서 나타나는 긍정적 또는 부정적 정서에 대한 평가는 동일 설문지에서 PANAS 척도를 이용하여 정서적 경험을 측정하였다. 학생들의 협동적 정보검색에 대한 경험은 정서적 측면과 상관관계를 살펴보고, 일반적 특성, 협동적 정보검색에 대한 경험, 정서적 측면과의 통계적 우의성은 t-test로 분석하였다. 연구결과, 간호학과 학생들의 협동적 정보검색과 정서적 경험은 상관관계가 있었으며, 또한 학생들의 일반적 특성, 협동적 정보검색과 정서적 경험은 통계적으로 유의미한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 학생들의 성별과 '전반적 협동에 대한 만족도', 학생들의 성별과 긍정적 정서에서 유의미한 상관관계를 나타내었다. 본 연구를 통해서 협동적 정보행태에서 정서적 경험에 대한 후속 연구에 가능성을 발견하였다.

본 연구는 이미지 기반 디지털 도서관의 이용자 검색 패턴을 효과적으로 분석하기 위해 이용자 검색 로그 데이터를 분석하였다. 기술 통계와 네트워크 분석 방법을 사용하여 한 달간 수집한 트랜잭션 로그 데이터를 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 이용자들이 특정 주제 내에서 검색 결과 보기와 이미지 아이템 평가를 반복적으로 수행하고 있음을 밝혀내었다. 본 연구는 이미지 자료 검색의 로그 분석을 위해 복합적 데이터 분석 방법을 이용하였다는 점에 의의가 있다.

이 연구에서는 웹기반 온라인목록 이용자들의 전반적인 검색행태를 알아보기 위해, 7년 동안의 트랜잭션 로그를 분석하였다. 웹기반 온라인목록의 검색형태는 검색전략과 검색실패의 관점에서 조사하였다. 검색전략에서는 검색유형, 접근점, 연산자, 검색문의 길이, 단어 사용횟수, 웹기반 온라인목록 이용횟수, 시간대별 및 요일별 이용횟수를 분석하였다. 또한 검색실패는 검색실패율과 접근점별 검색실패율, 연산자별 검색실패율을 분석하였다. 이 연구결과는 향후 웹기반 온라인목록 시스템과 서비스 개선에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

본 연구는 웹 기반 선례검색 시스템을 개발하였다. 기존의 연구들에 대한 사례 조사를 통해서 지금까지의 선례 검색 방법의 한계: 변환과정에서의 의미 손실과 자료 공유의 시공간제한성 밝혔다. 해결책으로 의미기반 공통표현모듈을 도입하고 웹 환경을 이용하여 효과적인 선례검색 해결방법을 찾아냄으로써 검색과 자료 공유가 용이한 선례검색 시스템을 개발했다.

일반적으로 검색엔진은 이용자가 검색하고자 하는 내용의 정보를 제공하는 사이트를 우선 탐색할 수 있도록 검색결과의 주요내용을 요약하여 이용자에게 제공하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이용자의 검색 결과 클릭이 검색 엔진에서 제공하는 요약 내용 기반으로 진행되는 것인지 검색결과 배치 순서에 기인한 것인지를 검색 결과 역배열 제시를 통한 실증 연구 결과를 제시하였다. 검색엔진 업체에서 제공하는 API를 활용하여 검색결과를 정배열과 역배열로 제시해 주는 검색사이트를 제작하여 각 이용자들의 검색결과에 대한 클릭 행동을 실제 클릭 순서와 클릭 위치, 클릭 수, 검색결과 내에서의 페이지 간 이동경로 등과 같은 이용자 검색 유형을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 대부분의 이용자들은 검색결과 정배열 또는 역배열 제시와 상관없이 첫 번째와 두 번째 노출된 검색 결과를 우선 클릭하는 이용자가 60% 이상 차지하였다. 이는 검색 결과 요약 내용과 상관없이 검색 결과 배치 순서에 따라 이용자의 정보탐색 우선순위가 결정되는 것으로 확인되었다.

다수의 연구에서 정보추구 과정상 불확실성(Uncertainty)의 중요성이 지적되었지만, 실제 정보검색시스템을 이용한 탐색과정에서 이용자들의 불확실성에 대한 연구는 많지 않았다. 본 연구는 실제로 정보를 추구하는 이용자들의 웹 검색어 선정과정에서의 불확실성 인식을 조사하여, 정보탐색 과정에서의 다양한 불확실성 유형을 식별하였다. 불확실성 유형에 입각하여 발견된 불확실성의 주요 원인(Origins)은 정보검색시스템 및 서비스 발전을 위한 시사점을 제시하여준다.
