Influential Factors on the Interactivity in the Interactive Space II ; Focus on Interface Factors' Attributes for Supporting Behavioral Participation (상호작용 공간의 상호작용성 영향요인 II ; 인터페이스 요인의 참여행태 지원 속성 분석을 중심으로)

  • Interactive space became one of the major design paradigms. For elevating the interactive effect in this, we need user-centered design methodology which uses the influential factors on the interactivity. As the second paper of three-linked studies for the interactivity in the interactive space, this research analyzed the interface factors' specific attributes for supporting behavioral participation. 'Interface' is one of three main factors on the interactivity(Intersubject/Interface/Interaction). Its role in the interactive space is to induce or support user's participations which bring the interactive changes into the designs. Qualitative case analysis was the main method and 30 cases were investigated. 'Individual analysis-Transitional description-Generalization' were the progressive steps for case analysis. As final results, 17 attributes for supporting behavioral participation were analyzed.

  • At present, the necessity of new design guidelines, evaluation and operation system for school facilities are on the rise according to re-edition of school curriculum in Korea. Moreover, it is necessary to procedure of the design, an institutional device and an ex post facto evaluation system for school facilities as a public building with the space planning that is suitable for various situations, which are able to collect users' various demands and opinions. Under the present situation, England has introduced and operated DQI system for the users' participation design of its. The present study will derive the meaning DQI system of England and how to operate it, and percuss the possibility of the application of design procedure of the education facilities in Korea.

  • The purpose of study is to investigate the current user interface level of air traffic control system with the usability analysis and satisfaction survey questionnaire on user satisfaction. Think aloud protocol is used to identify not only task analysis, but also the level of user-friendliness of the FIMS and ASDE system, and the user interface questionnaires was conducted by QUIS. We collected data from 6 controllers for Think aloud protocol and 15 controllers for QUIS in Incheon airport. The results showed that the system was the valuable tool for ensuring human performance with the support of memory and the facilitation of decision-making tasks. It helps air traffic controllers perform better and minimize errors in a congested time. The human-computer interface system design, however, was not applied, which led to the increase of workload. Air traffic controller participation in software development provided excellent examples for applications in terms of software in FIMS. Based on these results, the study provided that the usability of system interface was necessary to take into account human factors.   • For handicapped person who have a handicap in moving, vehicles are indispensible, especially in the viewpoint of handicapped person's participation for social life by rehabilitation, the freedom of movement equaling to nonnal person is a important factor for improving the quality in being complete growth.In the purposese of positively social participation of handicapped person, this study investigated the general problems about using a means of transportation in the users of wheelchair and for solving these problems and approached, in the viewpoint of styling, vehicles were considered from character of self-supporting in getting on and off a car. For that first, this study was progressed by suggesting invigorating convenience facilities in already established vehicles for the user of a wheelchair and the part of moulding of modified vehicles in a structure. Moreover, making a selection of domestic vehicles arbitrarily, analyzing a internal structure of a boarding of a wheelchair, and suggesting the modified model of vehicles by the sketch.

A Study on the Classroom Space Planning through User Participation Design - Focusing on the case of School Space Innovation Project in Incheon - (사용자 참여설계를 통한 교실공간계획에 관한 연구 - 인천광역시 학교공간 혁신사업 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • This study is aimed at presenting an efficient management plan of user participatory design in a situation where the School Space Innovation Project is in progress. 2 schools that were the targets of the Incheon School Space Innovation Project in 2019 were selected for this, and features such as the physical environment of that classroom, classroom usage plan, and the stepwise outcome of the user participatory design workshop were contemplated. Especially the workshop outcome was compared and analyzed quantitatively, focusing on the actual master plan and zoning plan, in order to identify the feature that opinions of various users are reflected on the actual plan. As a result, the following conclusion could be reached. Firstly, it was confirmed that the expression about the user preferential space influences the classroom usage plan of that classroom. Vague expressions about the whole space held a large majority of the objects for the linguistic expression of the preferential space. The expression mode as limited as the expression of the actions that users want to carry out in the space. On the other hand, when the usage purpose of the classroom was definite, it was confirmed that the demand for furniture·facility is relatively high. Secondly, according to the analysis of zoning for each function, it seems that the stereotype, which is arranged on the basis of the chalkboard at the front of existing classrooms, was applied in the case of the learning zone. However, in cases of other functions, a tendency was identified that the user carries out an image description that reflects the physical features of the space. Sufficient preparation will need to precede for the efficient management of the user participatory design workshop and the acceptance of various opinions. It seems that especially the classroom usage plan, number of workshops, consultation of each step, and the education about the space expression mode affect the master plan.

  • To develope more competitive products, lots of attentions are paid to the study of user participation in the process of product design. In this circumstance, the user participation at a usability testing phase is relatively active. However, the usability testing in the controlled laboratory has some drawbacks. for stance, It needs a lot of money, efforts, and time. Most of all, it is difficult to collect a vast range of data and gain a fast feedback Recently, to overcome these difficulties mentioned above, international usability testing has been applied. Especially, usability testing Contents through Internet is considered most effective one. Because it has a lot of merits such as easiness of collecting remote user, simplicity of collecting data, cost effectiveness and so on. With these merits, this study takes advantage of using a WWW to carry out usability test and to collect remote usability data. And a website was development for posting computer simulated product so that the remote users can test its usability through internet.

  • Smart photonic clothing integrates light emitting technology inside and outside of the garment and integrates it as a fashion product. It expresses digital color that radiates light outside the body that expands the functionality of the clothing as well as makes new and various attempts visually. It is also is gradually expanding into a new area of fashion. LED, one of the digital color output devices, is a light emitting device that is suitable for presenting consumer customized designs in that the patterns and colors of clothes can be modified as desired by utilizing computer technology such as program coding. LED technology that can realize various digital colors is actively applied in various industrial design fields, but there are few previous studies on smart clothes using LED color in Korean fashion fields. Therefore, this study develops a prototype of a customized LED smart photonic garment that allows the user to directly participate in the color implementation of clothing and select a digital color suitable for the desired function. The LED module was designed to be detachable from clothing and made using a 256-pixel LED matrix. Various coding patterns of the LED were designed using the coding change of Arduino program.

  • Educational Facility has a specialty that similar design is repeatedly taken place so the importance of POE(Post Occupancy Evaluation) is increased for the improvement of problem appeared at the former projects. The POE could provides help to the design of next project and the direction when the need of remodeling is faced. Through the process of POE, the repeat of design mistakes could be prevented and the good information related with building efficiency and other problems could be applied to the design of next school project . In this study, the POE of Manbalro(barefoot) toilet of D Elementary school in rural area of H county is performed. The toilet is renovated as an educational environment improvement project of H county educational office in Chungcheong Namdo Province. The study is focused on the user's behavior at Manbalro toilet for carrying out indicative POE by the subjective response of user's. From the research, several being reformed items is proposed however the toilet is evaluated as a successful project that design purpose of initial stage is applied well.

  • This study aims to make a method that user of design information can use design information actively, after grasped a demerit that the exiting design information is passively given to user of design information for library architecture. This study with the study purpose has significations as following. Firstly, user of design information is able to use the information proposed in this study more actively than the exiting design information, because the design information in this study is proposed as the relative structures for design solution. Secondly, user of design information is able to have a participation chance for design of public library as a community facility, because the design information in this study plays not only a role in a check list for library space but also a role in normative design information for library design.

  • This paper is to propose a design possibility that incorporates participatory process and also to emphasize the participatory process applied to the planning of outdoor playground space open to the neighboring community. Community design based on the participation method can be understood as an attitude about a force for change in the creation and management of environments for people who are the major users of them. Planning for outdoor space is an integral part of school education and a vital component of child development. For the design of outdoor space of Samyang Elementary School it first needs to examine the current and emerging needs of students, teachers and parents as community residents through the participatory design method. A series of workshops and interviews are taken to identify dreams and ideal spaces of each group. An assessment of existing school spaces and design possibility of reprogrammed outdoor spaces are proposed to match the major demands of participants. Selected outdoor places are chosen and designed to accommodate options for various play settings and to make the school pleasant places where members of the neighborhood can gather for relaxation in restful surroundings.
