  • High utility itemset(HUI) mining refers to the discovery of itemsets with high utilities which are not less than a user-specified minimum utility threshold, by considering both the quantities and weight factors of items in a transaction database. Recently the utility-list based HUI mining algorithms have been proposed to avoid numerous candidate itemsets and the algorithms need the costly join operations. In this paper, we propose a new HUI mining algorithm, using the utility-list with additional attributes of transaction utility and common utility of itemsets. The new algorithm decreases the number of join operations and efficiently prunes the search space. Experimental results on both synthetic and real datasets show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other recent algorithms in runtime, especially when datasets are dense or contain many long transactions.

  • This study investigated consumer preferences for Internet medical information service in China using the multi-attribute utility theory. The multi-attribute utility theory is a compositional approach for modeling consumer preferences wherein researchers calculate the overall service utility by summing up the evaluation results for each attribute. We found that Chinese Internet medical information users consider the availability of information and quick response to be the most important attributes. Further, they think that the comment feature is less important as compared to other attributes such as costs and updates. In addition, we found that the Internet users having more Internet experience consider these attributes to be more important as compared to the people who are just beginning to surf the Internet. For any successful Internet business, Internet marketers should assess individual-level preference and accordingly organize a fresh campaign. As of now, Internet marketers need estimation methods to predict the market performance of new services in many different business environments. We believe that the multi-attribute utility theory is a useful approach in this regard.

  • The Co-Gen System which maximize energy efficiency was installed at the industrial plants at the initial stage. However Small Scale Co-Gen System was expanded even to the general end-users such as housing and building owing to ESCO business recently. For this SSC, inter-connected operation to the utility is desirable due to voltage and frequency fluctuation following to unbalance between power output and load. Then voltage unbalance with utility system, frequency, increase of short circuit capacity, reclosing, and ALTS etc. should be fully considered for the inter-connected operation. Voltage variation, protection coordination, Co-Generators single running, and short circuit capacity should also be solved. For Con-Gen users, the several protection relays are recommended to install at the user's main incoming panel by the guide lines and/or instructions of the interconnected utility Then user's main CB(Circuit Breaker) have the chance to be tripped by some of this recommended relays and users have to undergo the unexpected blackout. So the circuit breaker trip schemes targeted to trip with these protection relays are reconsidered and the study result is hereunder proposed.

  • Cognitive radio technology gives secondary users chances that they can use specific spectrum of the primary user when the primary user doesn't use it. This paper proposes the algorithm that maximizes the benefit of the primary user considering spectrum price and auction period by using the auction game theory. According to the ratio of spectrum that secondary users bid, primary user allocates spectrum to secondary users. In the process of repeated auction, the primary user gets to find the optimal price of spectrum. Using the price and the proposed utility function of primary user, we derive the optimal auction period. At the same time, the primary user finally determines the price of spectrum appropriate for the optimal period.

  • In this paper, we study an opportunistic scheduling scheme for the OFDMA system with streaming services. The service is modeled by using the appropriate utility function. We formulate a stochastic optimization problem that aims at maximizing network utility while satisfying the QoS requirement of each user. The problem is solved by using the dual approach and the stochastic sub-gradient algorithm.

  • Wireless mobile multimedia communications have been greatly increased in the number of users, diversity of applications and interface technologies. Wireless mobile networks are being evolved and integrated into IP based core network, so it is necessary to provide sufficient QoS (Quality of Service) mechanism to provide enhanced user's satisfaction. In this paper, we propose a new adaptive QoS mechanism based on utility function borrowed from the field of microeconomics, call setup and handover signaling mechanism integrating QoS and mobility management. Through a simulation, we show that adaptive resource allocation based on user preferences can be realized in the wireless mobile network with some considerations.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the resource allocation problem in a self organizing network from the viewpoint of game theory. The main focus is to suggest the model and analyze a power control algorithm in wireless ad-hoc networks using non cooperative games. Our approach is based on a model for the level of satisfaction and utility a wireless user in a self organizing network derives from using the system. Using this model, we show a distributed power control scheme that maximizes utility of each user in the network. Formulating this as a non-cooperative game we will show the feasibility of such power control as well as existence of the Nash Equilibrium achieved by the non-cooperative game.

  • The study on the existing multi-utility tunnel has examined the general aspects related to the installation of multi-utility tunnel rather than the optimal design and feasibility analysis of accommodation facility in multi-utility tunnel. In the basic planning stage related to the introduction of multi-utility tunnel, it is difficult to determine accommodation facility due to lack of relevant indicators and data. In this paper, VE/LCC analysis method is suggested for the optimal alternative decision of accommodation facilities in multi-utility tunnel. The analysis of the items of individual accommodation facility and the value index for LCC costs were applied to the kind alternatives, and the priorities of each kind were analyzed. In addition, the domestic multi-utility tunnel and analysis result are compared. The result of this study will be helpful to shorten the time and convenience of the user in the process of determining accommodation facility including the first designers when introducing multi-utility tunnel.

  • In urban planning, road facility is used not only for the transportation purpose but also for the utility line space purpose such as electrical, gas, tele communication, heating, water, sewer, and so on. However, since these utilities are built by many different groups, it becomes very difficult to communicate each other. Delay in one party can cause another party's schedule delay but they don't commuicate often. Also, some delay in utility work can cause frequent pavement cut. And, this will impact on construction cost, schedule delay, low quality, user complain and cost. This study developed spatiotemporal decision model to prevent prequent utility cut for mega project such as new urban development project. In addition, this study developed utility cut management system to manage utility cut schedule under pavement. Finally, developed system was applied to new urban development project and verified there effectiveness.

  • The adaptation of video according to the heterogeneous and dynamic resource constraints on networks and devices, as well as on user preferences, is a promising approach for universal access and consumption of video content. For optimal adaptation that satisfies the constraints while maximizing the utility that results from the adapted video, it is necessary to devise a systematic way of selecting an appropriate adaptation operation among multiple feasible choices. This paper presents a general conceptual framework that allows the formulation of various adaptations as constrained optimization problems by modeling the relations among feasible adaptation operations, constraints, and utilities. In particular, we present the feasibility of the framework by applying it to a use case of rate adaptation of MPEG-4 video with an explicit modeling of adaptation employing a combination of frame dropping and discrete cosine transform coefficient dropping, constraint, utility, and their mapping relations. Furthermore, we provide a description tool that describes the adaptation-constraint-utility relations as a functional form referred to as a utility function, which has been accepted as a part of the terminal and network quality of service tool in MPEG-21 Digital Item Adaptation (DIA).
