  • Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) have a number of interesting applications to preserve road safety, notify users about changed road/traffic condition, handling post accident hazards and moreover service oriented applications to make the travel convenient to the drivers. Use of common information format for diverse applications enables the application developers to easily design flexible information dissemination system for new applications or add new features to existing application. This paper introduces a common information format for various applications in VANETs. The main goal of the paper is to design generalized distributed architectures for vehicular networks, which considers diverse application development scenarios and uses common information format. The proposed architectures enable the application developers to flexibly disseminate information to affected or interested user. In this paper, we have given a detail description of each component of the architectures and how they communicate with each other. In future, we will implement the proposed architecture using suitable simulator.

  • A design of Advisory Tutoring Agent(ATA) is proposed to help a student on the basis of a student-oriented discovery learning, The agents adaptively build a student model and interact with a student as well as each other to give a piece of advice at a proper time. The appropriateness of advice depends on the agents' reasoning sod interaction performed based on the student model. domain knowledge, teaching strategy, and user-friendly interface. The design has been applied to a simple English learning environment.

  • Automation of the key flight dynamics operations for the geostationary orbit satellite mission is analyzed and designed. The automation includes satellite orbit determination, orbit prediction, event prediction, and fuel accounting. An object-oriented analysis and design methodology is used for design of the automation system. Automation scenarios are investigated first and then the scenarios are allocated to use cases. Sequences of the use cases are diagramed. Then software components and graphical user interfaces are designed for automation. The automation will be applied to the Communication, Ocean, and Meteorology Satellite (COMS) flight dynamics system for daily routine operations.

  • This paper reports on the development of the analysis program of the piston skirt system, PS-LAP. It is essential to verify the stability of the design and to improve the performance of the system. In order to do that efficiently, it is required that integrated and interactive simulation analysis program. PS-LAP is developed in the base of the object-oriented, capsulation, modulization, OLE(objected linking and embedding) and variational design theory. So it contain the expandability and flexibility of the structure. In addition to that, it is programed to make the convenient user interface by using the visualization programming. It can support the modification of the piston skirt shape, lubrication condition and so on. It is expected to reduce the money and effort for design the piston skirt system.

설계자를 위한 에스컬레이터 전용 시뮬레이션 프로그램 개발 (Development of an Escalator Simulation Program for a Designer)

  • When an escalator is developed or modified to improve its performance, estimation of dynamic characteristics of the escalator is required. But modeling of the escalator for a design purpose is very difficult and time consuming. Especially, it is very difficult for a designer to use the simulation model during design process because preparing a proper model takes time and also the designer needs to know how to use the simulation program. In order to solver these problems, a graphic user interface program that can predict dynamic characteristics of an escalator is developed for the designer. Since this program makes the necessary escalator model for simulation for itself, the designer does not need to know how to use the simulation program while design is in progress. In this paper, a designer oriented interface program is developed and an example is presented to show the effectiveness of the developed program.

폴드 개념을 이용한 환경설계방법 연구 - 도산공원 재설계를 사례로 - (Environmental Design Methods Based on the Idea of Fold : The Re-Design Proposal of Do-San Park)

  • From modernism to post-modernism, the practice in the design field often reduced the complexity of environment and to remove variety. However, contemporary ideas of space have been changed. The current thought premise is that the environment is mutable and is evolving according to inner and outer forces and elements. Therefore, leading designers recognize that the environment is complex in itself while anticipating a new theory explaining on-going trends. The idea of fold formulated by Gilles Deleuze can provide a theoretical base for new environmental design in constrat to current design practices. The fold is a hybrid by accommodating complex relations within an object. It carries a dynamic world view through continual process and yields a topological space against absolute space like Euclid geometry. The characteristics of the fold can be paraphrased as rhizome, stratification and smooth space. Rhizome forms a non-hierarchial connection like networking in internet space. Stratification is a kind of superimposition of autonomous potential layers within a single object. Smooth space is a free space and event oriented space keeping non-linear form. This study tried to incorporate the idea of fold to environmental design methods and design process in order to make space which can correspond with complex environment and topological form. In the design process adapted to fold theory, rhizome analysis accepts the complexity of environment and stratification strategy embraces the possibility of accidental use. As a result, the designed park carries a monadic image and produces an ambiguous space. Lastly, smooth space makes topological space unlike Euclid geometry and is free space comosed by the user themselves. Transporting the idea of fold into environmental design could be an alterative way for indeterminate and flexible design to accept new identity of place. Therefore, this study accepts the concept of incidental morphogenesis to make space based on the complexity of environment. The designed space based on the idea of fold searches to create free event space determined by user rather than designated by designer.

UML-ITS Usability Evaluation of Intelligent Tutoring System

  • The most effective tutoring method is one-on-one, face-to-face in-person human tutoring. However, due to the limited availability of human tutors, computer-based alternatives have been developed. These software based alternatives are called Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) which are used to tutor students in different domains. Although ITS performance is inferior to that of human teachers, the field is growing and has recently become very popular. User interfaces play key role in usability perspective of ITS. Even though ITS research has advanced, the majority of the work has concentrated on learning sciences while mostly disregarding user interfaces. Because of this, the present ITS includes effective learning modules but a less effective interface design. Usability is one approach to gauge a software's performance, while "ease of use" is one way to assess a software's quality. This paper measures the usability effectiveness of an ITS which is designed to teach Object-Oriented (OO) analysis and design concepts using Unified Modeling Language (UML). Computer Supported Usability Questionnaire (CSUQ) survey was conducted for usability evaluation of UML-ITS. According to participants' responses to the system's usability survey, all responses lie between 1 to 3 scale points which indicate that the participants were satisfied and comfortable with most of the system's interface features.

  • 최근 정보를 안전하게 관리하기 위한 방법으로 휴대가 용이하며 물리적, 전기적 그리고 소프트웨어적인 공격으로부터 안전한 스마트카드 시스템이 주목받고 있다. 자바카드는 스마트카드 플랫폼에 자바 기술을 접목시킨 것으로 객체지향 기법을 적용한 보안상 매우 우수한 장점을 지니고 있으며 특성이 다른 하드웨어에서 동일한 동작을 수행할 수 있는 개방형 운영체제를 가짐으로써 다양한 응용 프로그램을 수용할 수 있는 유연성을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 지금까지 각각의 스마트카드 하드웨어에 맞추어져 수행되던 불편함을 자바의 플랫폼 독립적인 실행 특성을 도입함으로써, 통일된 개발 환경을 구축하고 있는 자바카드 기술을 이용하여 하나의 카드로 소유자 이외에도 다수의 관리자가 각기 다른 접근권한으로 접근통제가 가능한 회원카드를 설계하였다. 제안한 방법에서 사용자 인증은 일반적으로 사용되고 있는 PIN과 함께 서명데이터를 이용하여 PIN이 가지고 있는 본래의 보안취약점을 개선하여 보다 안전한 사용자 인증을 수행한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 방법은 사용자 인증, 파일 보안 등급의 차등적인 접근권한을 설계하고 구현함으로써 보다 안전하고 편리한 사용방법을 제공한다.

  • 현재의 웹은 점점 늘어가는 데이터로 인해 효율적인 검색과 관리가 어려워지고 있다. 이를 개선하기 위한 방법으로 시맨틱 웹 기술이 개발되고 있다. 그러나 현재 사용되는 검색시스템들은 시맨틱 웹 기술을 도입하지 않음에도 압도적인 국내 사용률을 독점하고 있다. 이로 인해 시맨틱 웹에 대한 개발은 활성화 되지 않고 있으며, 검색시스템을 사용하는 사용자들 역시 시맨틱 웹의 사용률이 저조한 실정이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 현재 사용되고 있는 검색시스템을 분석하고, 제안하는 시스템의 온톨로지 구현 시 사용자가 사용한 데이터의 종류와 웹 서버의 게시판 사용 시 사용한 파일의 종류를 RDF 표현 규칙에 추가 설정하여 사용자 중심의 검색시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다.

  • Mobile & Telecommunication industry have been improved in recent years, many different and different shape devices have been introduced and relative services also consistently have been developed as well. Mobile users also demand new service and diverse contents different from vice oriented services and its quality improvement. Recently Smartphone has shown up and changed Mobile & Telecommunication industry and lead activating the industry. Particularly Smartphone users enjoy many different functions and service provided by Application Market. Actually this Application Market would lead improving Mobile& Telecommunication industry. This fact is worthy of notice. Therefore This study focus on Application Market and analyse what determinants affect user's intention to use Application Market. Mainly e-Servqual and TAM model are applied and research model was established and empirically tested. As a result information, transaction and design quality significantly effect on user's intention and perceived usefulness and easy of use also significantly more effect on user's intention. There will be several implications to establish strategy for application market based on this results.
