  • Various interaction techniques have been studied for providing the feeling of touch and improve immersion in augmented reality (AR) environments. Tangible AR interaction exploiting two types (product-type and pointer-type) of simple objects has earned great interest for cost-effective design evaluation of digital handheld products. When the sizes of markers attached to the objects are kept big to obtain better marker recognition, the pointer-type object frequently and significantly occludes the product-type object, which deteriorates natural visualization and level of immersion in an AR environment. In this paper, in order to overcome such problems, we propose tangible AR interaction using fingertip touch combined with small-sized markers. The proposed approach facilitates the use of convex polygons to recover the boundaries of AR markers which are partially occluded. It also properly enlarges the pattern area of each AR marker to reduce the sizes of AR markers without sacrificing the quality of marker detection. We empirically verified the quality of the proposed approach, and applied it in the process of design evaluation of digital products. From experimental results, we found that the approach is comparably accurate enough to be applied to the design evaluation process and tangible enough to provide a pseudo feeling of manipulating virtual products with human hands.

  • As the world game marcket has been recording weak growth, the development of new gane concept is required to attract the gamer's attention from those who were fed up with the previous game paradigm. Recently, the game which can recognize the player's motions and provide new interaction between the game and user is more popular than ever before. In the games with somesthesia based on Virtual Reality, the sense of the reality is considered the most important factor for drawing immersion from the gamers. In this work, a new type of 3-axis accelerometer based interactive game interface which can effectively recognize the gamer' motion is suggested. Furthermore, various experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

  • Recently, due to improvement of computer performance and development of information devices, technology of mobile augmented reality is proliferating rapidly. However, because most of contents are passive or limitary, user can not feel interest and immersion. This paper designs interaction user interface system of 2 dimensional drawing based on mobile augmented reality to make bi-directional communication between the real world and the virtual world possible by using the vision based augmented reality and the database system.

  • The screen sports game is a motion-based game developed by combining the PC game and the sensor so that the user can directly participate in the game. Following screen golf, which was very popular in the 2000s, screen baseball has been on the rise since 2016. Most of the games released today employ the interface of traditional PC games. However, there is a need for a method that allows the user to manipulate the screen baseball in a more intuitive manner. In this study, we utilize a Kiosk independent of the game, which enables users to intervene naturally without disturbing the flow of the game. Such a Kiosk-based interface results in increased immersion in the game.

  • This study finds out the types and meanings of the cartoon style in digital game. First, this study suggests two types, visual sign and aural sign. The cartoon style of visual sign signify denotative means, that helps user's instant gaming experience. Meanwhile the cartoon style of aural sign strengthens user's identity and immersion. Also it delivers background story of the game. These significations implies the semiological meanings of the cartoon style in digital game, and this study comprehensively handles aspects of the user experience in gaming world, too.

  • Metabus, a three-dimensional virtual environment for digital communication, has gained a lot of attention recently. Even so, there are still many unanswered questions about the user's consciousness and behavior. A difference in nature from conventional digital communication is also unclear. This paper aims to study Metabus on a hypothetical premise by organizing the possibility of Metabus for communication activation based on a research project aimed at using Metabus to support the formation of a community of school dormitories and studio rental residents. After reviewing the establishment process and application cases of Metabus, we focus on the character (avatar) used as the user's alter ego within the metabus, which will allow customization of both form and content different from text-based communication. The "physicality" and the "spatiality" of the metaverse and the "immersion" they bring are among the most important, functional innovations. Based on this summary, a case of using metabuses will be reviewed to describe the research plan aimed at supporting community formation.

  • The world focus on enhancing national prestige based on the value of traditional culture and history to preserve cultural heritage that make an effort to popularize in public. Hence, the true issue of paradigm for traditional culture are given at recreation for the value of cultural heritage. To study level of awareness of the importance in cultural heritage, proceed on experimental research for two groups that each group as for professionals and laymen. There are five experiment with two groups that of level of immersion, educational effect, interest, intelligibility score in the documentary in achieve which are recorded image and recorded film. The result of experiments, it showed difference between professionals and laymen, high scored of immersion and intelligibility score in professionals group of recorded image, other highly scored of immersion and educational effect in laymen of recorded film. Consequently, it will need historical recording documents to supply divisively with as considering levels and cognitive situation for professionals and laymen to satisfy their intention. And also, the needs for public to develop various source and contents of heritage to have people's interests. For the expert, it demand on educational projects and contents to be initiated in skills and arts.

  • Purpose: This study examined the effect of VR safety education content quality on behavioral intention and collect operational opinions through interview. Method: Based on the survey data of 93 former and current officers, the hypothesis was verified. In addition, 15 fire safety experience centers were visited to conduct interview. Result: For the quality of VR safety education contents, immersion and convenience had a significant effect on usage satisfaction, recommendation intention, and field application intention. In addition, convenience and aesthetic experience had a significant effect on the educational effect, but immersion and diversity did not significant. In the interview, they suggested that VR education has high user satisfaction and good educational effects. The quality of content(particularly immersion and convenience) is an important factor in VR education. In the long-term persepective, it is necessary to prepare a standard teaching plan for each disaster, in addition, manpower, expertise, maintenance problems, and etc. Conclusion: Through these results, it was confirmed that VR experience content quality affects behavioral intention and educational effect and that efforts and investments to improve content quality are needed to enhance the effectiveness of VR experience education. And the contents derived from the interview will be helpful in the operation of an effective fire safety experience center.

  • In recent, projection mapping, which has attracted high attention in the field of realistic media, is regarded as a technology to increase the users' immersion. However, most existing methods perform projection mapping on static objects. In this paper, we developed a technology to track the movements of users and dynamically map the media contents to the users' bodies. The projected media content is built by predefined gestures just using the user's bare hands without the special devices. An interactive immersive media system has been implemented by integrating these dynamic projection mapping technologies and gesture-based drawing technologies. The proposed realistic media system recognizes the movements and open / closed states of the user 's hands, selects the functions necessary to draw a picture. The users can freely draw the picture by changing the color of the brush using the colors of any real objects. In addition, the user's drawing is dynamically projected on the user's body, allowing the user to design and wear his t-shirt in real-time.
