A study on Mobile SNS Attributes Effects on Information share, Relationship formation, and User satisfaction (모바일 SNS속성이 관계형성과 정보공유를 매개로 사용자 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • This research conducted a survey targeting mobile SNS users in order to see whether mobile SNS attribute( accessibility, usefulness, newness, connectivity) through the medium of information share and relationship formation had a positive influence on user satisfaction. The results of the analysis showed that usefulness and accessibility had a significant influence on information share, while accessibility and connectivity had a significant influence on relationship formation. Information share and relationship formation both had a significant influence on user satisfaction. Based on this research, an angle of approach different from the business transactions and information services offered in existing mobile networks is necessary when corporations provide SNS through mobiles. When considering that the most important part in the use of mobile SNS is the social component, this can be actively used for the development and marketing of SNS services. Therefore, the SNS provider must focus its efforts on finding a method to stimulate user sensibilities in order to increase customer satisfaction and draw out continuous usage.

Effects of Instagram User Personality on Brand Satisfaction and Loyalty (인스타그램 이용자 성격이 브랜드 만족도와 충성도에 끼치는 영향)

  • This study set out to analyze the effects of user personality on the brand satisfaction and loyalty of SNS to identify factors influencing SNS usage. For that purpose, the study defined extraversion, curiosity, and self-esteem, three factors of Instagram user personality, as exogenous variables, focusing on Instagram, which has made a relatively sharp rise in the usage rate among many different SNS applications. With brand satisfaction and loyalty set as endogenous variables, the investigator introduced brand satisfaction as a mediating variable for the effects of extraversion, curiosity, and self-esteem on brand loyalty. A survey was conducted with Korean people with an experience of using Instagram, and total 396 questionnaires were used in final analysis. The findings show that all of three exogenous variables had positive (+) effects on brand satisfaction with extraversion and curiosity having positive (+) effects on brand loyalty, as well. And the findings demonstrate that brand satisfaction was a mediating variable and that curiosity was the personality factor that had the biggest influences on satisfaction and loyalty.

  • The wide spread of smartphones and the growth of the number of internet users are reshaping the SNS (Social Network Service). Merging into other service areas and creating new business models with high profits, SNS is no more a service simply providing personal connections. Now SNS has positioned itself as a service platform. SNG (Social Network Game) is a new outcome utilizing SNS as a game platform and showing a rapid growth rate in a short period of time. The number of SNG users is expected to increase steadily. In this study, we examine whether SNG user motivations lead to flow experience and future intention to use. For that purpose, we conducted a survey with smartphone users. The results indicate that flow experience functions as a mediator and user motivations indirectly affect intention to use through flow experience. This paper concludes with discussions on findings and suggestions for future research.

Digital Generation's Media Use and Political Participation : Focusing on SNS and Smart Phone Use (디지털 융합 세대의 미디어 이용과 정치참여의 특징 : SNS와 스마트폰을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine new types of political participation using the new media of digital convergence generation. For this purpose, groups were classified according to age and characteristics of media usage to investigate whether there are differences in media-related tendencies, SNS and characteristics of Smartphone usage political-related characteristics, and political participation by types. The results of the study is that the media usage characteristics by generation showed a difference between groups according to the high and low motivation for using media, and there was a generation differences in politics-related characteristics and types of political participation. Digital generation showed lower political involvement, political efficiency and offline political participation than Web 1.0 generation. In addition, political efficacy showed the moderating effect that had the greatest effect on political participation by types.

  • Why people reduce or stop using social network services(SNS), which are regarded as a mean of relationship and communication, unlike the early trend? To explain the phenomenon, this study tries to predict psychological decision making process of users from perspectives of cognitive dissonance theory. From this perspective, this study attempted an integrative approach that reflected 'User's literacy' indicating the ability of individuals to use SNS, and 'negative mass media influence' such as media reports on side effects or the bad experiences of acquaintances, along with the 3 factors used in the SNS Prior research. This study conducted an empirical analysis by surveying 256 facebook users, and the major findings are as follows:- First, Social-overload, complexity, uncertainty and negative media influence are significantly affect dissonance on the use of SNS. Second, Dissonance on the use of SNS significantly affects the behavior that possibly reduces and limits the use of SNS. In other words, the users who have experienced psychological dissonance respond passively by avoiding the use of SNS to resolve the dissonance. Third, the moderating effect of User's literacy wasn't a significant. This study presents a clue to understand psychological decision making process of use of SNS and a guideline for establishing practical strategies. In addition, it is important to note that this study contributes to expansion of theoretical discussion about usage.

A Study on the use of SNS in college education: A Comparison of experienced learner and non-experienced learner (대학 수업에서의 SNS 활용에 대한 연구: 경험자와 비경험자 학습자의 비교)

  • Dramatic transformation in education has taken place and Internet Technologies have played a key role. Especially SNS has been considered as an effective educational tool because of its exceptional features such as discussion on course topics, feedback from peers and group collaboration. The purpose of this paper is to investigate factors affecting the attitude, intention to continuous use of SNS and performance in college education comparing between experienced learner and non-experienced learner. Self-efficacy on media usage, educational expectancy, subjective norm, habit, and enjoyment were identified as affecting factors based on prior researches. The results shows that all factors are significantly related to the learner's attitude on the use of SNS in college education. Experienced learner's attitude on educational use of SNS in college was found to be significantly related to the intention to continuous use and performance. This study can provide a guideline of effective strategy for SNS utilization in college education.

  • As the usage of social network service(SNS) increases recently, great attention has been shown to the information security in SNS. However, there has been little investment in SNS environment for security while preferential investment to attract subscribers has been made so far. Moreover, there is still a lack of confidence for investment effect and an absence of framework to analyze the threat factors of information security in SNS. In this paper, we propose to model for decision-making standard of SNS information security investment by the AHP. The result shows that 'service image' is the most important criterion for the decision of SNS information security. It also shows that 'Profile-squatting and reputation slander through ID thefts' and 'Corporate espionage' are important threat factors in SNS information security.

Why do people leave SNS? : The Influences of the Users' Characteristics and SNS Fatigue (SNS를 떠나는 사람들 : 사용자의 특성과 SNS 피로감 중심으로 SNS 중단의향에 영향을 미치는 사용자 특성)

  • Recently, SNS users have begun to complain of fatigue attributed by the dependency on the Social Networking Services, and this trend seem to have them cease or leave the SNS despite its exponential growth. Although researchers devote their effort to identify negative effects of perceived SNS fatigue on the intention to keep using SNS, it still lacks dealing with users' personal characteristics. Thus, this study looked into (1) the differences of perceived SNS fatigue and the differences of intention to leave SNS based on the users' characteristics (demographic variables, personality traits, and SNS usages) and (2) the users' characteristics on the intention to discontinue SNS. The results show that the users with low self-esteem were more likely to feel higher SNS fatigue and to discontinue SNS than those with high self-esteem, and the users in 20s showed higher intention to discontinue SNS than those in 40s. Moreover, the younger the users were, and the lower the levels of self-esteem were, the users reported higher level of fatigue. Additionally, the female users showed that the higher the level of fatigue, the stronger intentions to discontinue SNS. This research sheds light on the fact that the characteristics of users give influences the intention to discontinue SNS, and is expected to suggest practical implications in the ever-expanding SNS market.

  • Considering the widespread use of social networking sites (SNSs) and the sudden shift of Filipino SNS usage from Friendster to Facebook, this paper examines five factors that affect user intentions to switch SNSs. By surveying switchers from Friendster to Facebook in the Philippines, satisfaction, alternative attractiveness, and social influence were significant factors affecting switching intent.

The Effect of Fashion-Related SNS Usage Motivation on Consumers' Social Comparison and Purchase Behavior - Focused on Chinese Consumers - (패션관련 SNS 이용동기가 사회비교 및 패션제품 구매행동에 미치는 영향 - 중국소비자를 중심으로 -)

  • SNS (social networking service) plays an important role in delivering information regarding fashion brands and providing a space for communication between fashion retailers and SNS users, as well as between users. This study primarily focuses on exploring the relationships among the motivation of SNS users and social comparison, clothing purchasing behaviors and the difference in the relationships according to individual characteristics. An online survey was conducted on Chinese female consumers in their 20's and 30's who had experience in fashion SNS. A total of 297 women completed online survey. The results of the study revealed that: (1) consumers who have stronger motivation of information seeking and interpersonal communication through fashion SNS reached more active upward comparison and peer comparison accordingly; (2) upward comparison had a significant effect on conspicuous consumption and bandwagon, while peer comparison had no significant effect; and (3) the self-esteem of fashion SNS users significantly moderated the effect of social comparison on conspicuous consumption and conformity consumption. This study contributed to expanding the knowledge on the relationships among the motivations of SNS users and social comparison, and shed light on Chinese SNS users' characteristics and purchasing behaviors in the fashion SNS context. This study also provides vital implications to fashion brands and retailers.
