How Perceived Price Discount Influence on the Impulsive Consumption in the Context of Online Limited-Time Promotion: Moderating Effect of Perceived Time Pressure

  • Purpose In the current environment of online shopping, the cost for consumers to obtain the information they need is decreasing, and the price of products is becoming more transparent, leading to increased price competition among enterprises for similar products. Given the widespread usage of limited-time promotion as a marketing method for enterprises in the context of e-commerce, it is great meaning to study and reveal the internal influence mechanism of limited-time promotion on consumers' impulsive consumption. Design/methodology/approach Based on the S-O-R theory, this study constructs a model of consumers' impulsive consumption in the context of e-commerce from the perspective of perceived price discount, with evoking sense and pleasure as mediating variables and perceived time pressure as moderating variables. Findings The results show that perceived price discount has a significant positive impact on evoking sense and pleasure. Evoking sense has a significant positive impact on pleasure. Both evoking sense and pleasure have a significant positive impact on consumers' impulsive consumption. Meanwhile, perceived time pressure plays a significant moderating role between perceived price discount and evoking sense, between perceived price discount and pleasure, and between evoking sense and consumers' impulsive consumption. Finally, based on the above findings, this study provides effective suggestions for e-commerce participants in the formulation of limited-time promotion strategies.

Natural Dyed Products Market Segmentation and Usage of Media and Information Sources among the Segments (천연염색 제품의 시장세분화 및 세분시장의 매체 이용 행동과 정보탐색 행동)

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to divide consumers into segments according to their consumption attitude and subjective knowledge about natural dyed products 2) to develop a profile for each segment with respect to the media types, the preferred media programs, the information sources, the lifestyle activities and the demographics. Data(n = 213) was collected using questionnaires via the internet. By cluster analysis of the consumers' attitude and their subjective knowledge about natural dyed products, four groups were identified 1) the loyal consumption group (20.1%), 2) the conditional/reluctant consumption group(36.6%), 3) the negative/reluctant consumption group(24.2%) and 4) the non purchasers(19.1%). Several characteristics of these four groups were then compared by ANOVA and chi-square statistics. The results indicated that the consumption attitude and subjective knowledge could be the criteria for segmenting the consumers and that the segmented groups had unique consumer characteristics. Implications of this study were discussed.

Forecasting the consumption of dairy products in Korea using growth models

  • One of the most critical issues in the dairy industry, alongside the low birth rate and the aging population, is the decrease in demand for milk. In this study, the consumption trends of 12 major dairy products distributed in Korea were predicted using a logistic model, the Gompertz model, and the Bass diffusion model, which are representative S-shaped growth models. The 12 dairy products are fermented milk (liquid type, cream type), butter, milk powder (modified, whole, skim), liquid milk (market, flavored), condensed milk, cheese (natural, processed), and cream. As a result of the analysis, the growth potential of butter, condensed milk, natural cheese, processed cheese, and cream consumption among the 12 dairy products is relatively high, whereas the growth of the remaining dairy product consumption is expected to stagnate or decrease. However, butter and cream are by-products of the skim milk powder manufacturing process. Therefore, even if the consumption of butter and cream grows, it is difficult to increase the demand of domestic milk unless the production of skim milk powder produced from domestic milk is also increased. Therefore, in order to support the domestic dairy industry, policy support should be focused on increasing domestic milk usage for the production of condensed milk, natural cheese, and processed cheese.

Energy Consumption Analysis based on Filter Differential Pressure when Adopting an Air-side Economizer System for a Data Center (데이터센터에 적용된 외기도입 냉방시스템에서 필터유형별 에너지 소비량 변화)

  • Recently, many studies related to reducing the energy consumption in data centers have been conducted. These studies have mainly focused on the air intake and exhaust system of a computer room air handling unit (CRAH) in the server room, diffuser type, suppression and discharge of the heat generated from the server, and the air-side economizer system. In this study, the energy consumption of the conventional central chilled water cooling system is compared with the energy consumption of the air-side economizer system. We also examined how changes of differential pressure by each filter have influenced energy consumption, using the power usage effectiveness (PUE). Results show that the PUE was improved, and energy consumption decreased, by applying the air-side economizer system.

  • Grid computing environment can be used to interconnect a wide variety of geographically distributed heterogeneous computing resources based on high-speed network. To make business service, it is necessary for Grid accounting system to measure the computational cost by consuming computer resources. To collect resource consumption data, and to keep track of process without needing to recompile kernel source, we use system call wrapping. By making use of this technique, we modifies system call table and replace existing system call to new system call that can monitor processes running in CPU kernel currently. Therefore we can measure user process resource usage for Grid accounting system.

  • In this paper, the authors propose methods for determining the differentiated price for elastic traffic in IP (Internet Protocol) network. First, we investigate the behavior in the consumption of bandwidth of elastic traffic in IP network. Next, we propose a method to relate the bandwidth usage with the pricing for the elastic traffic, which is based partially or fully on the usage rate of the network bandwidth. After that, we propose a charging function for elastic traffic, which is based on the de facto usage of the bandwidth. Finally, we will illustrate the implication of the work via simple numerical experiments.

  • Wireless sensor network is composed of sensor node with limited sources, and to maintain and repair is vexatious once made up. Accordingly it is important matter to maximize the network lifetime by minimizing the energy consumption in wireless sensor network, and utilizing the limited sources efficiently. In this paper, I propose a technique arranging the cluster number with efficiency in clustering method to optimize the energy consumption. The energy usage needed for wireless transmission varies in distance(threshold). This technique reduces the energy consumption considering the threshold when arranging the cluster number. I verify that the clustering method organized through the valid processes outperform the LEACH(Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) in total energy consumption.

A Study on the Evaluation of Water Consumption in Electric Appliances using Water Footprint - Focusing on Washing Machine - (Water Footprint 개념을 이용한 가전제품의 수자원 사용량 산정 (세탁기를 중심으로))

  • In this study, by using the Water footprint technique, the water consumption by washing machines, which holds higher ranks in using water than any other electric appliances, was analyzed during their life cycle. The life cycle is defined as raw materials production step, manufacturing step, and using step. In raw materials production step, Input materials were researched by using LCI DB(Life Cycle Inventory Database) and the water consumption was calculated with consideration of approximately 65% Input materials which were based weight. In manufacturing step, the water consumption was calculated by the amount of energy used in assembly factories and components subcontractors and emission factor of energy. In using step, referring to guidelines on carbon footprint labeling, the life cycle is applied as 5 years for a washing machine and 218 cycles for annual bounds of usage. The water and power consumption for operating was calculated by referring to posted materials on the manufacture's websites. The water consumption by nation unit was calculated with the result of water consumption by a unit of washing machine. As a result, it shows that water consumption per life cycle s 110,105 kg/unit. The water consumption of each step is 90,495 kg/unit for using, 18,603 kg for raw materials production and 1,006 kg/unit for manufacturing, which apparently shows that the using step consume the most water resource. The water consumption by nation unit is 371,269,584tons in total based on 2006, 83,385,649 tons in both steps of raw material production and manufacturing, and 287,883,935 tons in using step.

  • Fast decision support systems and accurate diagnosis have become significant in the rapidly growing healthcare sector. As the number of disparate medical IoT devices connected to the human body rises, fast and interrelated healthcare data retrieval gets harder and harder. One of the most important requirements for the Healthcare Internet of Things (HIoT) is semantic interoperability. The state-of-the-art HIoT systems have problems with bandwidth and latency. An extension of cloud computing called fog computing not only solves the latency problem but also provides other benefits including resource mobility and on-demand scalability. The recommended approach helps to lower latency and network bandwidth consumption in a system that provides semantic interoperability in healthcare organizations. To evaluate the system's language processing performance, we simulated it in three different contexts. 1. Polysemy resolution system 2. System for hyponymy-hypernymy resolution with polysemy 3. System for resolving polysemy, hypernymy, hyponymy, meronymy, and holonymy. In comparison to the other two systems, the third system has lower latency and network usage. The proposed framework can reduce the computation overhead of heterogeneous healthcare data. The simulation results show that fog computing can reduce delay, network usage, and energy consumption.

A Development of Real-time Energy Usage Data Collection and Analysis System based on the IoT (IoT 기반의 실시간 에너지 사용 데이터 수집 및 분석 시스템 개발)

  • The development of monitoring and analysis systems to increase productivity while saving energy is needed as a method to reduce huge amount of energy consumed in the process of producing large forged products. In this paper, we propose a system to monitor and analyze energy usage in real-time collected from gas-meter, wattmeter, and thermometer based on IoT installed in forging factories. The system consists of a data collection server for collecting and processing data from IoT- based platform and existing SCADA equipment and ERP/MES system in forging factories, and an application server for providing services to users. To develop the system, the overall system structure is logically diagrammed, and the databases configuration and implementation modules to efficiently store and manage data are presented. In the future, the system will be utilized to reduce energy consumption by analyzing energy usage pattern and optimizing process works with real-time energy usage and production process data for each facility.
