The studies on the reaction of Urea-Formaldehyde(UF) resin with silk fabric were studied, and the final results summarized as below; 1. The pH and UF molar ratio for preparing liquid resin was found at pH 4-5 and UF molar ration 1:2 and above. 2. The weight gains were increased with respect to increase in concentration of UF resin solution, while moisture regains were decreased. 3. The weight gains were significant high in case of wet pick up 70%. 4. The weight gains were increased with respect to increase in curing temperature and the amount of catalyst((NH4)2SO4) found was 2.5% on the weight of Dimethylol urea and Hydrochloric acid was 1%, Tartaric acid was 10%. 5. The effect of different catalyst on wash fastness of UF resin was good where as in case of acidic catalyst was significantly high. 6. The weight gains with different catalyst was high where as in case of potential acid catalyst was significantly high. 7. The structural and functional aspects of ervatamin B were studied in solution. Ervatamin B belongs to the $\alpha+\beta$ class of proteins. The intrinsic fluorescence emission maximum of the enzyme was at 350 nm under neutral conditions, and at 355 nm under denaturing conditions. Between pH 1.0-2.5 the enzyme exists in a partially unfolded state with minimum or no tertiary structure, and no proteolytic activity. At still lower pH, the enzyme regains substantial secondary structure, which is predominantly $\beta$-sheet conformation and shows a strong binding to 8-anilino-1-napthalene-sulfonic acid (ANS). In the presence of salt, the enzyme attains a similar state directly from the native state. Under neutral conditions, the enzyme was stable in urea, while the guanidine hydrochloride (GuHCl) induced equilibrium unfolding was cooperative. The GuHCl induced unfolding transition curves at pH 3.0 and 4.0 were non-coincidental, indicating the presence of intermediates in the unfolding pathway. This was substantiated by strong ANS binding that was observed at low concentrations of GuHCl at both pH 3.0 and 4.0. The urea induced transition curves at pH 3.0 were, however, coincidental, but non-cooperative. This indicates that the different structural units of the enzyme unfold in steps through intermediates. This observation is further supported by two emission maxima in ANS binding assay during urea denaturation. Hence, denaturant induced equilibrium unfolding pathway of ervatamin B, which differs from the acid induced unfolding pathway, is not a simple two-state transition but involves intermediates which probably accumulate at different stages of protein folding and hence adds a new dimension to the unfolding pathway of plant proteases of the papain superfamily.

Mixed micelle formation behavior of cationic surfactant-cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in aqueous as well as in urea medium from 303.15 K to 323.15 K at 5 K interval was carried out by conductometric method. The differences between the experimental values of critical micelle concentrations (cmc) and ideal critical micelle concentrations ($cmc^{id}$) illustrate the interaction between the amphiphiles studied. The values of micellar mole fraction ($X_1^{Rub}$ (Rubingh), $X_1^M$ (Motomura), $X_1^{Rod}$ (Rodenas) and $X_1^{id}$(ideal) of surfactant CTAB determined by different proposed models and outcome indicate high involvement of CTAB in SDS-CTAB mixed micellization, which enhance by means of the augment of mole fraction of CTAB. The negative value of interaction parameter (${\beta}$) showed an attractive interaction involving CTAB and SDS. Activity coefficients were less than unity in all case, which also reveals the presence of interaction between CTAB & SDS. The negative ${\Delta}G^0_m$ values imply the spontaneous mixed micellization phenomenon. The attained values of ${\Delta}H^0_m$ were positive at inferior temperature, while negative at superior temperature. The negative ${\Delta}H^0_m$ values in urea ($NH_2CONH_2$) medium illustrate exothermic micellization process. The magnitudes of ${\Delta}S^0_m$ were positive in almost all cases. The excess free energy of mixed micelle formation (${\Delta}G_{ex}$) was found to be negative, which indicates the stability of mixed micelle as compared to the individual's components micelles.
$SnO_2$ powders were prepared from the calcination of stannic acids precipitated from the aqueous solution of $SnCl_4$ with ammonium nitrate as a precipitator at $90^{\circ}C$. For the comparison of properties, the stannic acids were prepared from the homogeneous precipitation method using urea as a precipitator at the same temperature. The stannic acid from ammonium nitrate at a thermal gravity analysis showed the weight loss until $700^{\circ}C$ and the percentage of total weight loss was 16.5%. The crystallization of stannic acid into $SnO_2$ finished in the calcination at $600^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. The crystallite size of $SnO_2$ increased with the increase of calcination temperature and initial concentration of $SnCl_4$ solution. In case of the same calcination condition, $SnO_2$ prepared from homogeneous precipitation using urea had a relatively smaller crystallite size rather than $SnO_2$ prepared from ammonium nitrate.

The key issues for the reduction technologies of the exhaust gas from diesel engine being developed are to reduce particulate matters and NOx. The SCR system is known to be one of the most efficient and stable technologies to remove NOx through the mixing of NOx and urea solution. In the present research, the effects of mixer configurations of SCR system have been investigated to enhance the SCR performance. First, a Schlieren technique is employed to visualize the mixing characteristics of urea solution and exhaust gas. The results show that a mixer is essential to obtain proper fluid mixing. In addition, numerical studies have been made to understand the mixing characteristics through the comparison of the mal-distribution index of concentration at the several locations of the diffuser. In particular, the effects of number of blade and mixer angles on mixing characteristics were studied. The results show that the blade angle has a larger effect on the mixing characteristics than the number of blades.
The response properties of continuous automated system using an enzyme reactor for determination of urea were investigated. The enzyme reactor was constructed to packed-bed form which filled with nylon-6 beads (42∼48 mesh), which immobilized urease with glutaraldehyde, in teflon tube (2 mm I.D., 20 cm length). The system was composed of the enzyme reactor, gas dialyzer, and tublar PVC-nonactin membrane ammonium ion-selective electrode as an indicator electrode in serial order. The response characteristics of this system were as follows. That is, the concentration range of linear response, slope of linear response, detection limit, and conversion percentage were $5.5{\times}10^{-6}$∼$2.4{\times}10^{-3}M$, 57.8 mV/decade, $1.5{\times}10^{-6}$, and 80.8%, respectively. The optimum buffer and life time of urease reactor were 0.01M Tris-HCl buffer solution (pH 7.0∼7.8) and 0.01M phosphate buffer solution (pH 6.9∼7.5) and about 150 days, respectively. And the urease reactor had no interferences of the other physiological materials.
Exfoliated graphite oxide (EGO) was prepared by graphite oxide in an aqueous solution of TMAOH. The hybrid graphene/Zn-Al LDH material was fabricated by the hydrothermal reduction of the solution of EGO, $Zn(NO_3)_2{\cdot}6H_2O$, $Al(NO_3)_3{\cdot}9H_2O$, urea, and trisodium citrate. That is, metal ions were absorbed on the surface of EGO, and Zn-Al LDH material was randomly dispersed on the surface of graphene along with a reduction process of EGO to graphene by hydrothermal treatment. The composition, morphology, and thermal property of the obtained graphene-based hybrid material were studied by FE-SEM, EDX, TEM, FT-IR, XRD, TGA, and DSC.
The influences of the acute hemorrhage on the intestinal functions were studied in the rabbits subjected to acute bleeding, amounting 1.5-2% of the body weight. The motility and the absorptive capacity of the ileum were compared before and after the bleeding. Transfusion of shed blood was also performed in order to see whether the deteriorations were reversible or not. The tension developed in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the ileum was recorded through an appropriate transducer, and the frequency of the rhythmic contraction was counted throughout the procedure. Test solution, 10ml in amount, was placed in the loop of the ileum, and the samples were drawn at zero time and at 20 minutes. Triplicated procedures were repeated on the same loop;namely, before and after bleeding and after transfusion. The test solution was composed of 200 mg% urea, 218 mEq/l of NaCl and 150 mg% of polyethylene glycol (PEG) No. 4,000 in distilled water. The latter substance was used as a marker substance for the volume change of the loop. The results obtained were as follows; 1. The motility of the ileum suffered little effects by acute hemorrhage. However, minor fluctuations were seen in the frequency of the rhythm, showing a slight tendency of decreasing rhythmicity, and it was reversed by transfusion. 2. Diminution of absorptive capacity of urea was noticed in acute hemorrhage and it was interpreted as the consequence of the secondary effect of the retardation of the active transport mechanism governing the sodium transport 3. Absorption rate of the sodium ion was dropped in the hemorrhage, suggesting the indispensable need of the blood supply. 4. Osmolarity of the luminal fluid remained higher in the case of acute hemorrhage. 5. There was a tendency of retaining more fluid in the intestinal lumen in acute hemorrhage, comparing with that observed prior to the bleeding. 6. The deteriorations in the absorptive capacity were restored by transfusion of shed blood.
The root-out of mulberry saplings has been studied by pour into soil and spray on leaves of the plant growth substances. In addition, the effect of "Rutin", a kind of plant growth hormones has been also studied on promoting the rootability of mulberry scions by dipping the scions at the various concentrations. The results are summarized as follows: (1) It is likely to be effective on acceleration of the rootability resulting in increase of rooting ratio by pour into soil at the concentration of 1 ppm and 10 ppm NAA, 10 ppm and 100 ppm Rutin, and 5000 fold solution of Atonic, respectively (2) Growth of branch is only promoted by leaf spray of 0.5% urea, 0.005% and 0.01% Rutin, and 5000 fold solution of Atonic without increasing the root weight. (3) It seems that 0.05% of Rutin is of practical use, and 0.05% to 0.4% of "Rutin" accelerates the root-out of mulberry scions as well as NAA does.
The conformational properties of hydrophobic core variant ubiquitin (Val26 to Ala mutation) in an acidic solution were studied. The intrinsic tryptophan fluorescence emission spectrum, far-UV and near-UV circular dichroic spectra, the fluorescence emission spectrum of 8-anilinonaphthalene-1-sulfonic acid in the presence of V26A ubiquitin, and urea-induced unfolding measurements indicate this variant ubiquitin to be in the partially folded molten globule conformation in solution at pH 2. The folding kinetics from molten globule to the native state was nearly identical to those from the unfolded state to the native state. This observation suggests that the equilibrium molten globule state of hydrophobic core variant ubiquitin is an on-pathway folding intermediate.
