  • Recently, Flood hazard has been increased frequently in urban area by rainfall and Typhoon. To manage flood hazard effectively, it needs to construction of flood information management system. Especially, run-off by flood in urban area must be considered not only surface outflow by topographic gradient and elevation but also conduits outflow along conduit network. This paper suggests the flood hazard management system for analyzing flood outflow in urban area using conduits outflow simulation by ILLUDAS model and providing quickly flood hazard information using WebGIS and MobileGIS.

  • Due to complexity of diverse features in urban area, accurate feature extraction is laborious task in aerial and satellite imagery. Especially occlusion by buildings, and image distortion of shadow effects make processing more difficult work. In this study, algorithm was presented to correct of shadow effects in aerial color images. This algorithm enables user to accurately interpretate urban information by correction of shadow effects in aerial color images

  • The purpose of this research is to study use method of mobile system for effective field management for urban facilities. GIS database could be standardized commonly useful for the site management of city facilities through standard list, standard items and standard specification appropriate for the mobile system, and this is effective to manage the city facilities on the site in real time.

  • Many urban-plan facilities were settled by the government in the need of infrastructure due to the rapid urbanization. The Constitutional Court judged that the exclusion of land-owners' private right to use their land did not accord with the Constitution, and the infringement of their right because of currently unexecuted facilities became the urgent task to be solved due to the revision of the Urban plan law revised on January 28, 2000. Accordingly, the government needed to establish a complete plan to review and rearrange the long-term unexcuted urban plan facilities. For this plan to be successful, we have constructed the database of unexecuted urban plan facilities by using GIS analysis technique in this research. Further, we will construct a basic database to manage the unexecuted urban plan facilities by utilizing the database we have constructed, computerized geographical information files of LMIS, urban plan facilities data of UPIS, and other information.

  • Growing urban areas modify patterns of local land use and land cover. Land use changes associated with an urban area can be extensive. One way to understand and document land use change and urbanization is to establish benchmark maps compiled from satellite imagery The use of satellite imagery for monitoring urban growth has been widely demonstrated. Multi-temporal LANSAT TM image data has created the potential for monitoring urban change and land cover identification. In this study, for extracting urban boundary GLCM method and visual interpretation were used in CORONA imagery and SPOT imagery.

  • This study examined the potential effects of urban growth on streamflow in the Gyungan River watershed, Korea, using urban containment scenarios. First, two scenarios (conservation and development) were established, and SLEUTH model was adapted to predict urban growth into the year 2060 with 20 years interval under two scenarios in the study area. Urban growth was larger under scenario 2, focusing on development, than under scenario 1, focusing on conservation. Most urban growth was predicted to involve the conversion of farmland, forest, and grasslands to urban areas. Streamflow in future periods under these scenarios was simulated by the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model. Each scenario showed distinct seasonal variations in streamflow. Although urban growth had a small effect on streamflow, urban growth may heighten the problems of increased seasonal variability in streamflow caused by other factor, such as climate change. This results obtained in this study provide further insight into the availability of future water resource and can aid in urban containment planning to mitigate the negative effects of urban growth in the study area.

  • Seoul has experienced a rapid urban expansion over the past three decades. This paper reports an investigation into the application of Landsat imagery for detecting urban growth and assessing its impact on surface temperature in the region. Land cover/use change detection w3s carried out by using Landsat data. The results revealed a notable urban growth in the study area. This urban expansion had raised surface radiant temperature in the urbanized area. The method using remote sensing data based on GIS was found to be effective in monitoring and analysing urban growth and in evaluating urbanization impact on surface temperature.

  • The aimed to development general management system that can manage diverse facilities of city using RFID. Defining data format of items in each management, type and code for the urban facilities, the researcher designed database of urban facilities through the process of establishing logic model and data modelling. By inputting designed database into RFID Tag of each urban facilities and using RFID Reader and PDA, the researcher developed system that can efficiently manage the basic attributes and information and management information of urban facilities. Further, it was found that the characteristics of RFID Tag and GPS should improve the optimal hardware combination and PDA performance for the surrounding environmental influence and system performance.
