  • This paper present investigation of interoperable process and interaction-facts between urban and new ATS signalling system for degrading, improvement or replacement in wireless communication-based train control system of urban driverless transit, and investigate interoperable requirement from joint program of cooperation-"wireless communication-based train control system's standard process construction and performance evaluation on urban transit" of first year result.

  • A signal system is critical point of transport capacity and train operation in urban rail transit. Today the moving block system by radio is taking place of the fixed block system by track circuit for efficiency and short headway in underground railway and right rail transit. In this study, assuming specification of a train, track and control system, the minimum headway on the moving block system and the fixed block system is researched for the maximum transport capacity.

  • The maintenance CALS system for car of urban transit is a part of standardization and development of urban transit system, and We have been performed the establishment of maintenance CALS system from 2001 to 2005. The RAMS for management computerization system are utilized in a variety of CALS system for user's convenience and safety in maintenance. Ever since its inception though, the urban transit has searched for ways to improve reliability, availability, maintainability and safety of the railway subsystem. In this paper, This system include RAMS(reliability, availability, maintainability and safety) and expert system of the vehicles shall be enhanced in the future.

  • While the environment of usage of information and technology is getting stable and technology is being developed more deeply due to the globalization, making information, standardization, in order to make a fast response to the new industry strategy and business environment, mutual communication and management of correct and fast information are focused on as fundamental elements of keeping competitive power. Accordingly strategic development of urban transit operation organization, storage of information technology of urban railroad, and buildup of standard information infra are very important, so that computerized information system has been built up standardizing efficient maintenance framework of urban transit facilities. To maintain these facilities efficiently, storing the real-time information by standardizing the maintenance organization and building up computerized information system are very important with management of information history of existing maintenance work. Therefore, for the efficient maintenance of track system among urban transit facilities, standardized facilities classification and definition of management elements, and the plan of designing and building standardized database about track. system through standardizing technology resources are described in this paper.

  • We proposed a modularization design technique for implementing software of on-board train control system. We already proved the efficiency of CASE Tool(SCADE) for safety critical software design. The several functions of train are implemented on CASE tool each modules. We divided functions of train into modules based on the modularization design. We used MATLAB for design of on-board train control software. We proved that this technique is more useful for the software design of on-board train control for EMU.

  • This paper presents the status quo of the development of a piecewise bendable switch system for the urban transit MagLev. MagLev system as well as railroad requires switch systems to reach its destination. Requirements of the switch system for commercial lines are high speed operation satisfying about 2-3 minute headway and system reliability, etc. Parallel moving type switch system was installed on the test track of urban transit MagLev in KIMM. In this system, switch operation from one position to another can be done in about 90 seconds. Therefore, we concluded that this system can not satisfy the headway for the commercial lines. We decided to develop a high speed piecewise bendable switch system in which switching can be done in 20 seconds. Designed switch system is very complicated in view of operating mechanism. It consists of 11 segmented girder beams driven by hydraulic cylinders. To gain the idea of a piecewise bendable switch system, we manufactured and tested a 1/5 scale switch model. We are going to construct a full scale piecewise bendable switch system next year.

  • This study is about a feasibility study for the practical using Urban Transit Maglev system based on systems engineering. First of all we defined what phase is matched with the project for feasibility study in the system life cycle and identified tasks that shall be done in the phase. Finally we suggested how to do in this project. The Urban Transit Maglev system is not wholly new system. It has similar architecture to a legacy urban railway system. But it is the system that is partially introduced new technology, because there are many projects have this characteristic within the country, we expect that this study may provide references.

  • Urban transit administers need to introduce the intelligent system to know the situations in the urban transit service area automatically. It is one of the important elements to detect of intrusion in operation room or electric rooms, etc. In this paper, we describe the definition for detection of intrusion in urban transit area, and propose the context-awareness model detect of intrusion. We expect that the definition is helpful to extract the elements that are need to construct the intrusion detecting system. The proposed model that is based on an image analysis model and a rule-based model is also helpful to design intelligent surveillance model.

  • The "standard regulation" of the vehicles from "urban transit law" are being adopted to electric multiple unit in domestic. In the standard regulation, there are two types for EMU. One is heavy EMU for Seoul. The other is large EMU for Pusan, Daegu, Gwangju, Daejeon, Incheon. Korea Railroad Research Institute, with the assistance of the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, "advanced EMU development project" are progressed, and 6th year started at September, one unit to six cars is completed. Now "urban transit vehicle performance tests are on the current progress. The main characteristics of AUTS(Advanced Urban Transit System) are as follows. One inverter control one motor, DDM(Dircet Drive Motor), no driving gear, plug door and steps, mounting and maintenance costs down, passenger convenience improvement. This paper describes the key features the next generation EMU, and performance test results, and the commercial success method of national R&D business.

  • It is very important that reduce the maintenance cost and extend life time of the urban transit EMU through effective maintenance method research. The maintenance cost of the urban transit EMU shares 70%$\sim$80% of it's life cycle cost. It means that the maintenance cost is bigger than the introduction cost of the urban transit EMU. In this study, we were survey and analysis for the reliability centered maintenance of internal and external many industry parts. Finally, we suggested the reliability/availability management System of the Urban Transit EMU' Maintenance.
