Recently metropolitan local governments is actively introducing urban railway's expand and light rail transit as a means of new transport system. DC electricity feeder system operating in the domestic urban railway is typically a feedback circuit consisted of the contact wire and electric railway vehicle via rail. But stray current is to be defined as a current flowing on a structure that is not part of the intended electrical circuit with respect to a given structure. Stray current is generally results from the leakage of return currents from large DC traction systems that are grounded or have a bad earth-insulated return path. At the place where the current leaves the rail and metallic structures, electrolytic corrosion may take place. This paper presents comparison analysis of field test methods based on criteria of electrolytic corrosion protection of buried metallic structures adjacent to DC traction systems.
DC electricity feeder system operating in the urban railway is typically a feedback circuit consisted of the contact wire and electric railway vehicle via rail. But stray current is flowed on a structure that is not part of the intended electrical circuit with respect to a given structure. This paper presents comparison analysis of field test cases based on criteria of electrolytic corrosion protection of buried metallic structures adjacent to DC traction systems. As a result of it, we confirmed that measurement methods are different from each other about the same tests. Therefore measurement methods to prevent electrolytic corrosion need to establish electrical facilities standards to be applied domestic.
Magnetic Levitated(Maglev) Vehicle, which utilizes electromagnetic forces between dual-pole electromagnets and a steel rail, generally runs on guideway structures. A prototype of an Urban Maglev Vehicle has been developed and tested in Korea, This study was conducted as a cooperation research subject of the 3-1 subject, performance improvement of maglev track structures, of the Center for Urban Maglev Program, statred in 2006. As the Maglev load is distributed rather than concentrated, a field test was conducted on Simple Span PSC-BOX Girder Bridge(L=25.0m) of the Expo-Maglev test track in Daejeon to examine the dynamic effect of the Maglev load on the bridge. Numerical analyses were also performed up to the maximum passing speed of 110 km/h by 10 km/h increments of Maglev Vehicle using Finite Element model of bridge, and girder deflections, accelerations and Dynamic Amplification Factor (DAF) are analysed.
Lifting plan in the large spacial structure is an important factor influencing the efficiency and economy of the construction process. The purpose of this study was deriving the requirements for lifting techniques as the basic research in the double spoke wheel roof structure construction. In the lift up erection method, management plan of the interference error in the column and outer-ring was needed that occur during lifting roof structure. In the bent erection method, material usage reduction plan was required by the structural design of the temporary bent. In the hybrid erection method, lifting plan was needed that minimizes weather condition and crane usage. All lifting techniques were required Value Engineering model for reduction of cost and construction period.
Needs for underground space development and utilization have been increasing in urban area. The conventional strutting method in excavation is effective to restrain the ground movements and displacements of earth structures but inefficient for workers because of small working space. The conventional earth reinforcement methods such as earth-anchor and soil-nailing also have limitation to apply in urban area due to threats to stability of adjacent buildings around excavation boundaries. Recently, many types of earth retaining structures are being developed to overcome disadvantages of conventional excavation methods in urban area. In this study, a series of numerical analyses were performed with MIDAS GTS, geotechnical analysis program and MIDAS Civil, structural analysis design program to evaluate behavior and stability of the new type of non-supporting earth retaining structure, called Temporary Tower System (TTS), consisting of tower truss structures with much economical and spatial advantage.
Recently, an indirect displacement estimation method using data fusion of acceleration and strain (i.e., acceleration-strain-based method) has been developed. Though the method showed good performance on beam-like structures, it has inherent limitation in applying to more general types of bridges that may have complex shapes, because it uses assumed analytical (sinusoidal) mode shapes to map the measured strain into displacement. This paper proposes an improved displacement estimation method that can be applied to more general types of bridges by building the mapping using the finite element model of the structure rather than using the assumed sinusoidal mode shapes. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated by numerical simulations on a deck arch bridge model and a three-span truss bridge model whose mode shapes are difficult to express as analytical functions. The displacements are estimated by acceleration-based method, strain-based method, acceleration-strain-based method, and the improved method. Then the results are compared with the exact displacement. An experimental validation is also carried out on a prestressed concrete girder bridge. The proposed method is found to provide the best estimate for dynamic displacements in the comparison, showing good agreement with the measurements as well.
THE CARBODY AND BOGIE FRAME OF AN URBAN RAILWAY VEHICLE CONSIST OF MULTI-LAYERED WELDING STRUCTURE. IN KOREA ENDURANCE LIMIT OF AN URBAN RAILWAY VEHICLE IS STSTED IN THE RULE OF MANAGING URBAN RAILWAY VEHICLE UNDER THE LAW OF URBAN RAILWAY. IN KOREA AN URBAN RAILWAY VEHICLE IS DESIGNED AND MADE TO KEEP ITS QUALITY OVER 25 YEARS. WHEN THE RAILWAY VEHICLE BECOMES 25 YEARS OLD, CORROSION OF CARBODY AND UNDER FRAME OF A RAILWAY VEHICLE IS EVALUATED ACCORDING TO THE NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING. IT CAN BE USED AS LONG AS 40 YEARS. IT IS STATED IN THE ARTICLE 4 'THE METHOD AND STANDARDS OF PRECISE DIAGNOSIS' UNDER THE RULE OF MANAGING RAILWAY VEHICLE IN KOREA. SO, IN THIS STUDY, WE HAVE INVESTIGATED PERFORMANCE OF PULSED EDDY CURRENT TESTING METHOD BY MEASURING THICKNESS VARIATION OF FABRICATE OF CARBODY AND UNDER FRAME FOR URBAN RAILROAD CAR. AND THEM, THE PROCESS OF EVALUATING REMAINING LIFE ACCORDING TO TESTING OF CORROSION AMOUNT IS INTRODUCED.
The purpose of this paper was developing a development density control model for urban growth management, using system dynamics modeling. The density control model was developed to see how urban growth, transition, and decay occur depending on the interaction among population, houses, industry structure, land and urban infrastructure such as road, water supply, and sewage treatment facilities. Suggesting adequate level of development density control using the model was another purpose of this paper. The model was applied to An'yang city to estimate the maximum number of population, industry structures, houses, and cars that can be adequately sustained with the current An'yang city's infrastructur capacity. The computer simulation results shows that the city is overpopulated by some 90,000 people. To reduce the population to the adequate level that the current urban infrastructure can sustain, the current city regulation on floor area ratio are needed to be strengthened at least 20 to 35%.
Currently, Stream flow analysis has been accomplished by one or two dimensional equations and was applied by simple momentum equations and fixed energy conservations which contain many reach uppermost limit. In this study, FLOW-3D using CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) was applied to stream flow analysis which can solve three dimensional RANS(Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes Equation) control equation to find out physical behavior and the effect of hydraulic structures. Numerical simulation accomplished those results was compared by using turbulence models such as $k-\varepsilon$, RNG(Renomalized Group Theory) $k-\varepsilon$ and LES(Large Eddy Simulation). Numerical analysis results have been illustrated by the turbulence energy effects, velocity of flow, water level pressure and eddy flows around the side overflow type structures at Jangwall bridge in urban stream.
The performance evaluation of existing structures is important to study the safety of those structures with changing the loads over the lifetime of structures. Therefore, this study aims at evaluating the Seong-Su bridge, Seoul, Korea, using structural health monitoring (SHM) system. The static and dynamic tests are used to assess the behavior of the bridge. The statistical and wavelet analyses are used to demonstrate the behavior of the bridge in the time and frequency domains. The previous SHM results are used to assess the bridge performance. The results of this study show that the bridge performance under static and dynamic loads is safe in time and frequency domains.
