  • For the purpose of disclosing the effects of exercise program on physical fitness for health promotion, living activities, and performance abilities of the elderly in the institution, questionnaire survey and physical examination were performed on the subject, aged 65 years or older. The subjects consisted of experimental (33 persons) and control (35 persons) groups, matched with gender and age. The experimental group was put on the exercise program; working their upper and lower limbs for 12 weeks using dumbbell and lead-packed weight. The results were as follows: 1)The mean values of experimental group were significantly higher than those of control group in all variables of physical fitness, in all variables except for living activities, and in all variables of performance abilities after exercise program. 2)The mean values were significantly improved in all variables of experimental group after exercise program, but the mean values were decreased or maintained in most of variables of control group after exercise.

  • Purpose: We investigated the effects of physical practice, mental practice, and cross education using serial reaction time (SRT). We recruited 21 right-handed healthy males and females who gave consent and had no clinical history for their upper limbs. Methods: The subjects were divided into three groups; actual practice (n=7), mental practice (n=7), and controls (n=7), who performed actual training, mental training, or no intervention respectively for three weeks. Super lab 4.0 displayed four symbols on the monitor and subjects pushed on the matching button, with reaction time assessed pre- and post-intervention. Results: Reaction time was significantly lower after actual or mental practice (p<0.05). Actual practice also decreased left hand reaction time. Conclusion: Actual practice and mental practice can improve motor learning, but mental practice is not sufficient for cross education.

  • The purpose of this study was to clarify that the obesity and the body cathexis influence on brassiere and girdle attitudes. The data were collected from 263 female college students using questionnaire. The three body types; slim type (37.6%), standard type (55.6%) and obese type (6.8%) were categorized by the obesity. The results could be summarized as follows. 1. The whole body was segmented as 5 parts: leg and hip girths, abdominal & upper arm girth, face & neck, limbs length & stature and breast. The brassiere & girdle attitudes were identified as 4 factors : "avoidance of wearing". "beauty pursuit", "body-making pursuit" and "brand preference". 2. While the body cathexis and appearance interests of the slim type showed highly, those of the obese type showed lowly. 3. While the obesity and appearance interests influenced the brassiere & girdle attitudes excepting "body-making pursuit", the body cathexis: partially influenced them. This study will provide feasible marketing data and implications for activation of foundation garment industries.

  • Strumpell, in 1880, was the first to describe familial case of spastic paraplegia characterized by progressive weakness and spasticity of the lower limbs with little or no involvement of the upper extremities. This syndrome is heterogeneous in inheritance, age of onset, severity and associated signs. We present one family with autosomal dominant hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) due to SPG4 (spastin) gene mutation which is confirmed by genomic DNA isolated from peripheral blood.

  • Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare disease characterized by lymphomatous invasion of the cranial or peripheral nerves by lymphoma. A high suspicion is important due to the various presenting symptoms mandating consideration of many differential diagnoses. We report a case of NL of the cranial nerves and plexus presenting as diplopia, facial palsy, and weakness of the upper and lower limbs in sequence.

  • Interior space of large scale composition facilities influences in walk population of distance according to trade and space rescue and walk population of distance is armed business activity. First, chose representative COEX mall of domestic representative multiplex utilization facilities on greate upper limbs for progress of research. Because executing space analysis of COEX mall interior, can analyzed the walk amount and location and also confirm result that floating population according to accessibility increases. Produced time, day of the week, the passageway passing amount through CCTV on actuality COEX mol interior to compare this. Was proved that it is quantity in the passageway passing amount and analysis incidental of the passing amount that get executing space difference.

  • Anterior interosseous nerve palsy is known to occur uncommonly because of its compression by the accessory head of flexor pollicis longus(AHFPL) in the forearm. During routine educational dissection, we found 7 AHFPLs in 12 upper limbs of 6 adults Korean Jeju islander cadavers, which inserted onto flexor pollicis longus. Three AHFPLs of them arose from coronoid process of the ulna, and the others arose independently from the flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS). Using the topographical relationship of the anterior interosseous nerve to the AHFPL, all anterior interosseous nerve was crossed the tendinous part of the AHFPL. This study has shown that there are discrepancies in the origin of AHFPL and the location of the anterior interosseous nerve in Koreans, which is supposed to be related to unique genetic pool in Jeju Island.

  • Purpose: This study aims to identify general, workplace, and health-related characteristics of outdoor workers exposed to high temperatures, and to compare the risk of disease according to outdoor high temperature exposure. Methods: This secondary analysis study used the 5th Korean Working Conditions Survey (2017) to identify 4,915 outdoor workers exposed to high temperatures. Results: Outdoor workers exposed to high temperatures were mostly male, elderly, less educated, and daily contract workers. Most of them were engaged in agriculture, forestry and fishing, and construction industries. About 40~50% of them complained of musculoskeletal pain and overall fatigue. The results showed that high temperature exposure increased the risk of illness (hearing problem, skin problem, backache, muscular pains in upper and lower limbs, headache/eyestrain, injuries, depression, and overall fatigue) among workers. Conclusion: High temperature exposure might increase the risk of illness among workers. The results of this study demonstrated that the outdoor workers should be protected from high temperatures.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the muscular force of swing using the soft golf club in comparison with the muscular force of swing using normal golf club. The subject was normal adult (twenties) and performed swing motion using normal and soft golf club. And then we compared muscular power soft golf club with normal golf club of the subject. The muscular power of the subject was measured by MP 100(BIOPAC Systems, Inc.). For the analysis of muscular power of swing using soft golf club, we measured EMG(Electromyography) of the subject. The position of muscle was deltoid, latissimus dorsi, external oblique and rectus abdominis of the upper limbs and rectus femoris, biceps femoris, gastrocnemius and soleus of the lower limbs. The result of experiment, muscle pattern of swing using soft golf club was similar to pattern of swing using normal golf club and muscular power of subjects using the soft golf was smaller than normal golf.
