  • Transmission delay and packet loss induced by a communication network can degrade the control performance and, even make the system unstable. This paper presents a method for compensating transmission delay and packet loss in a networked control system for unmanned underwater vehicle. The proposed method is based on Lagrange interpolation in order to satisfy the requirements of simplicity and model-independency. In this work, the lost/delayed data are estimated in real time by only using the past data without requiring any mathematical model of the controlled system. Consequently, the proposed method can be implemented independent of the controlled system, and also it can achieve fast and accurate compensation performance. The performance of the proposed technique is evaluated by numerical simulations with an unmanned underwater vehicle.

  • In this study, we propose a practical path planning method that combines the A* search algorithm and minimum snap trajectory generation. The A* search algorithm determines a set of waypoints to avoid collisions with surrounding obstacles from a starting to a destination point. Only essential waypoints (waypoints necessary to generate smooth trajectories) are extracted from the waypoints determined by the A* search algorithm, and an appropriate time between two adjacent waypoints is allocated. The waypoints so determined are connected by a smooth minimum snap trajectory, a dynamically executable trajectory for the quadrotor. If the generated trajectory is invalid, we methodically determine when intermediate waypoints are needed and how to insert the points to modify the trajectory. We verified the performance of the proposed method by various simulation experiments and a real-world experiment in a forested outdoor environment.

  • Efficient path planning is essential for unmanned surface vehicle (USV) navigation. The A* algorithm is an effective algorithm for identifying a safe path with optimal distance cost. In this study, a modified version of the A* algorithm is applied for planning the path of a USV in a static and dynamic obstacle environment. The current study adopts the A* approach while maintaining a safe distance between the USV and obstacles. Two important parameters-path length and computational time-are considered at various start times. The results demonstrate that the modified approach is effective for obstacle avoidance by a USV that is compliant with the International Regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea (COLREGs).

  • Cooperative systems among various unmanned vehicles are widely used in various field and emerging. Unmanned vehicles are able to operate various missions without operator onboard and they are highly stable. Collaborative work of multiple unmanned vehicles is emphasized due to the difficulty of recent missions such as SEAD (Suppression of the Enemy Air Defenses), MUSIC (Manned Unmanned Systems Integration Capability), goldentime in the rescue mission. In this study, ROS and Pixhawk were proposed as a method of construction of a collaboration system and framework for an integrated simulation environment for heterogeneous unmanned vehicles is proposed. Totally 5 unmanned vehicles were set for the simulation for the observation of illegal fishing boats. This paper shows the feasibility of the cooperative system using ROS and Pixhawk through the simulation and the experiment.

  • This paper proposes an image processing algorithm to stabilize shaken scenes of UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) caused by vehicle self-vibration and aerodynamic disturbance. The proposed method stabilizes images by compensating estimated shake motion which is evaluated from global motion. The global motion between two continuous images modeled by 6 parameter warping model is estimated by non-linear square method based on Gauss-Newton algorithm with excluding outlier region. The shake motion is evaluated by subtracting the global motion from aerial vehicle motion obtained by averaging global motion. Experimental results show that the proposed method stabilize shaken scenes effectively.

  • Fundamentally, there are 5 systems are needed for autonomous navigation of unmanned ground vehicle: Localization, environment perception, path planning, motion planning and vehicle control. Path planning and motion planning are accomplished based on result of the environment perception process. Thus, high reliability of localization and the environment perception will be a criterion that makes a judgment overall autonomous navigation. In this paper, via map matching using vehicle dynamic model and LIDAR sensors, replace high price localization system to new one, and have researched an algorithm that lead to robust autonomous navigation. Finally, all results are verified via actual unmanned ground vehicle tests.

  • A structural weight estimation methodology for the multicopter design process is presented. In general, a multicopter is composed of an airframe, motors, propellers, battery and so on. Among these, the weight of motors, propellers and battery can be obtained from the weight trends with respect to design parameters. However, the structural weight is hard to be estimated due to the various configurations and design concepts of multicopters. Moreover, the airframe weights of most commercial multicopter products are not provided. Thus, an accurate airframe weight model is required for the reliable mutlcopter design process. Firstly, the standard configuration of multicopters is defined. Then, we proposed the structural weight estimation method using the number and diameter of propellers determined from the initial step of sizing process. Finally, we validated our suggested method using the commerical products.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop unmanned traffic enforcement equipment and standard specifications for the prevention of traffic accidents and violations of the two-wheeled vehicle laws. To this end, we conducted a review of the problems and new technologies of the currently operating unmanned traffic enforcement equipment on two-wheeled vehicles. And through a survey, the feasibility of introducing unmanned traffic enforcement equipment for two-wheeled vehicles and the current status of technology were investigated. In addition, the two-wheeled vehicle enforcement function was implemented through field tests of the development equipment, and the addition of enforcement targets and the number recognition rate were improved through performance improvement. Based on the results of field experiments and performance evaluation, performance standards for unmanned two-wheeled vehicle traffic enforcement equipment were prepared, and in the communication protocol, two-wheeled vehicle-related matters were newly composed in the vehicle classification code and violation items to develop standards.

  • The Unmanned Ground Vehicle is comprised of four systems of obstacle detection: The navigation system, vehicle controlling system, obstacle detecting and an integration system that use the various sensors. The research introduced utilizes 6 lasers to recognize obstacles. The system operates an avoidance system within the unmanned ground vehicle, using six lasers. The Unmanned Ground Vehicle's parallel parking and right angle parking is in development using algorithms. This algorithms' certification is intended to be installed in the encoder, in the GPS. By using the Laser Scannerfor the position's calculation, errors are both reduced and minimized, so the tire's slip minimized to the point where the vehicle had a limit of about 5Km/h.
