외국인근로자와 유학생의 안전의식에 영향을 미치는 요인 (A Study on the Factors Affecting the Safety Awareness of Foreign Workers & International Students)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze which factors affect safety awareness of foreign workers and international students. In the correlation analysis, individual characteristics related to the safety awareness of foreign workers were nationality, status of stay(visa types), place of work, educational background, and Korean proficiency while international students were relevant with only the types of residence. There were significant differences in the safety awareness of foreign workers in nationality, status of stay(visa types), region of residence, educational background, place of work, and Korean proficiency. However, there was a significant difference only in the types of residence for the international students. In the regression analysis of factors affecting safety awareness, there were significant differences in nationality, status of stay(visa types), place of work, and Korean proficiency in the case of foreign workers. It was analyzed that nationality and status of stay had a negative (-) effect, and the place of work and Korean proficiency had a positive (+) effect. In the case of international students, it was analyzed that only the types of residence had a negative (-) effect on safety awareness.

국내 거주 외국인의 한국형 구강건강정보 이해능력 (Oral health literacy among foreign residents in South Korea)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the oral health literacy of foreign students in Korea regarding their utilization of dental clinic services and oral care products. Methods: This study measured the oral health literacy through a self-administered questionnaire that were distributed among 145 foreign students in Seoul and 153 Korean students in Wonju, Gangwon province. The questionnaire is used to assess the oral health literacy with a total of 92 questions including 30 questions on linguistic oral health literacy, and 40 questions on functional oral health literacy (sentence translation ability 27 questions, document decoding ability 13 questions), and 22 questions on the general characteristics. The collected data were analyzed by frequency test, ${\chi}^2$, independent t-test, and ANOVA with p-value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The linguistic oral health literacy awareness score was doubly lower in foreign students $20.5{\pm}22.4%$ than Korean students $53.9{\pm}18.4%$ (p<0.05), three words were not statistically significant with less than 10% of all the foreign and Korean students. Correct answer rate of sentence translation ability was statistically significant in all questions by foreign students $26.7{\pm}27.1%$ and Korean students $99.0{\pm}2.3%$ (p<0.05). Correct answer rate of document decoding ability showed a relatively small difference between foreign students and Korean students with $54.7{\pm}33.1%$ and $87.3{\pm}8.7%$, respectively, but it was statistically significant in all questions (p<0.05). Oral health literacy according to residence period and Korean language class level of foreign students were the most correlated among the other variables (p<0.05). Conclusions: Dental terminology was difficult for ordinary people to understand regardless of the Korean language proficiency levels, so it is recommended and needed to express dental clinical terms in simple layman's term or to use illustrations to dental patients. In case of foreign residents in Korea, interpretation services are needed. Additionally, labels and instructions of oral hygiene products retailed in Korea with the consideration for foreigners are required.

  • This paper investigated the influence of foreign words, otherwise known as loan words, on global communication abilities of university students from two non English-speaking countries: Korea and Japan. To survey the understanding and usage of foreign words which are from English language and used frequently in daily conversation, questionnaires were administered to Korean and Japanese university students majoring in engineering who shared similar linguistic backgrounds. The results were analyzed from global communication viewpoint. Based on the results, methods for improving global communication skills in engineering education were proposed.

중국 유학생의 학업성취 및 중도탈락 분석에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Study on the Analysis of Chinese Foreign Students' Academic Achievement and Fallout)

  • In response to the recent decline in the school-age population, universities have made attracting foreign students a major policy task for universities. As a result, the number of foreign students increased rapidly in terms of quantity, but in terms of quality, the risk is inevitable. Accordingly, the government presented education and internationalization competency certification system indicators on the basis of which quality control of students was systematized. Based on the above certification system, this study focused on analyzing the multiple factors that are actually given to the academic adaptation (performance) of the 2200 students who entered a certain university. In addition, factors other than the certification system index were discovered to comprehensively track how they affect the academic performance of students studying abroad. The researcher found the multi-reciprocal model analysis showed that the difference between the learner and the moderator was significant, and whether or not they had the Korean proficiency test (TOPIK) was significant. It also said that it could have a direct impact on Chinese University Entrance Exams (高考) are significant. If a model that is very effective in selecting students is established by each university and used as an indicator through this study, it will serve as a basis for efficient selection of students.

  • 2000년대 이후 국내 외국인 유학생은 크게 증가하였다. 2010년대 후반 정부의 고등교육 국제화 전략으로 인해 2019년 현재 외국인 유학생 수는 14만 명이 되었으며, 2023년에는 20만 명에 이를 전망이다. 우리 사회의 국제화와 인구절벽의 사회적 문제 앞에 외국인 유학생의 수가 증가하고 있는 것은 상당히 고무적인 일이며, 앞으로 이들의 행복한 유학생활은 상당히 중요한 문제가 되었다. 최근 한국에서 유학하는 베트남 유학생 수가 증가하고 있는데, 이들의 행복한 유학생활에 대해 관심을 가질 필요가 있다. 이에 이 연구에서는 베트남 유학생들의 행복한 유학생활을 위한 방안을 제안하고자 하였다. 한국 사회에 유입되고 있는 외국인 유학생들도 우리 사회의 한 구성원으로 인식하고 행복한 유학생활을 할 수 있도록 생활·경제, 복지, 교육 등의 측면에서 함께 노력해 가야 할 것이다.

Means of Visualization in Teaching Ukrainian as a Foreign Language to Modern Students with Clip Way of Thinking

  • Acceleration of the pace of life, increasing the amount of information, the emergence of "clip way of thinking" as a phenomenon has led to the problem of choosing forms of presentation of educational materials to students. One of the ways to solve this problem is to use the means of visualization of information flow, forasmuch as the thinking of modern youth is more effective in perceiving visual images than verbal means. The purpose of the research is to prove the effectiveness of the use of visualization in the process of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language to students with clip way of thinking. The following methods have been used, namely: analysis, synthesis, comparison, systematization and generalization of scientific literature; testing and surveys; pedagogical experiment; quantitative and qualitative analysis of data, interpretation and generalization of the research results. The essence of visualization means has been revealed; the expediency of their use in the methodology of teaching foreign students the Ukrainian language has been substantiated. It has been proven that the role of Ukrainian teachers lies in taking into account all new trends in teaching, integrating computer perception of information by foreign students into teaching technology and using cognitive visualization in order to intensify the learning process.

Korea유학생의 grit 수준과 잠재적 중도탈락 및 대학생활적응과의 관계 (The Relative Levels of Grit and Their Relationship with Potential Dropping-Out and University Adjustment of Foreign Students in Korea)

  • 이 연구는 한국 유학생의 grit 수준과 잠재적 중도탈락 및 대학생활적응과의 관계를 규명하고자 하였다. 연구의 대상은 335명의 한국에 있는 유학생이었다. 첫째, grit는 잠재적 중도탈락과는 부적 상관관계를 보였고, 정서적응과 사회적응, 대학생활 만족 및 학업적응과는 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 둘째, grit는 중간 점수보다 높았고 잠재적 중도탈락은 매우 낮았다. 정서적응과 대학만족은 대학적응보다 높았으나 사회적응은 하위 영역 중 가장 낮았다. 셋째, grit 수준이 높고 중간인 군집이 낮은 군집보다 잠재적 중도탈락은 낮았으나, 대학생활적응의 전체 하위영역은 높았다. 끝으로 유학생의 대학생활 적응을 위한 제언을 하였다.

외국인 유학생의 학업적응에 대한 융합연구 (Convergence Research on Academic Adjustment of Foreign Students)

  • 본 연구는 한국에 거주하는 외국인 유학생들의 건강행태와 한류문화에 대한 의식이 학업적응에 영향을 미치는 변인들을 파악하고 향후 외국인 유학생들이 한국문화에 잘 적응하고 건강하게 학업적응을 하기 위해 시도된 융합연구이다. 연구대상자는 G대학의 외국인 유학생을 대상으로 2018년 4월2일부터 4월30일까지 조사하였다. 수집된 자료를 SPSS 통계프로그램을 사용해 분석하였다. 외국인 유학생의 건강 행태와 한류문화 의식이 학업적응에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해 다중회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 연령이 높을수록, 체류기간이 길수록 학업적응력이 감소하는 반면, 운동 횟수가 많을수록, 한류문화 의식이 높을수록 학업적응력이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 향후 유학생들을 위한 지속적인 건강교육 및 운동 프로그램과 한류문화 프로그램을 제공으로 유학생들의 학업적응력을 키우기 위한 계획과 방안이 마련되어야 할 것이다.

  • 기존의 중국 유학생의 대학생활에 대한 연구는 한국에 재학 중인 중국유학생을 대상으로 설문 조사를 하였지만, 중국 유학생들은 한국 대학에 대하여 소속감과 대학에 대한 선입견을 가지고 있어서 객관성이 심히 우려된다. 이에 본 논문은 중국의 일반인을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 유학생 유치와 관련한 매체탐색을 수행하였다. 외국인 유학생 모두가 한국어에 능숙한 것은 아니다. 심지어 한국어 교육원에서 1년 이상의 교육을 이수하거나 한국어능력시험(TOPIK) 고급을 합격한 학생들조차, 일상생활에서 말하기와 학위를 취득하기에 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 본 연구결과에 의하면, 국내 대학들은 외국학생 유치를 위해서, 한국어능력이 부족한 외국인 유학생이 한국에서의 문화적응과 정보습득이 능숙하게 할 때까지, 그들의 모국어로 유학생활에 필요한 학업정보나 일상정보를 얻을 수 있도록 다국어가 지원되는 콘텐츠 서비스를 준비하는 것이 바람직하다.

중학생의 외국어 불안과 지각된 교실학습환경 : 성별 및 학년 차와 관계를 중심으로 (Foreign Language Anxiety and Perceived Classroom Environment of Middle School Students)

  • The Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale(Horwitz et al., 1986) and the Classroom Environment Scale(Moos & Tricket, 1974) were administered to 434 middle school students in Daegu. Data were analyzed by Cronbach's $\alpha$, t-test, and Pearson's correlation using the SPSS program. Results on anxiety showed no gender differences between male and female students but $9^{th}$ graders reported more anxiety than $7^{th}$ graders. Two of the nine classroom environment subscales showed differences between perceptions of male and female students, and there were significant differences between $7^{th}$ and $9^{th}$ graders. Foreign language anxiety was correlated with perceived classroom environment. This finding suggests the importance of the psychological environment between the English teacher and students for successful language education.
