대학생의 독서활동은 창의융합형 인재 양성에 있어서 기본적인 핵심 요소로 각 대학마다 다양한 교양교육 및 도서관 프로그램을 개발하여 시행하고 있다. 실제로 대학도서관에서는 주기적인 도서관만족도조사와 도서관이용자실태조사를 통해 도서관 서비스를 점검하고 개선하고 있지만, 대학생의 독서량과 대출책수 및 대출자 비율은 기대 이하이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 대학신입생 대상의 심층적인 도서대출 자료 분석을 통해 학생 중심의 도서관 서비스 개선 및 활성화 방안으로 (1)도서관 이용자교육의 조기 실시, (2)학생 참여형 도서관 수서(收書), (3)도서관 이용 자료의 학생 상담 활용, (4)학습지원을 위한 도서관 디포지터리(Depositary) 구축, (5)학생 개인별 도서관 CRM 도입 등을 제시하였다. 이를 통해 대학도서관의 대출책수와 대출자 비율이 기대치 이하인 각 대학도서관(전문대학 포함)에 실질적인 도움이 될 수 있을 것이다.

The scientific management of the university libraries is stressed prior to the library automation. Several tools and techniques for scientific management are introduced. And, to evaluated the library effectiveness, divided the library operations into 5 categories, each categories are summarized and analyzed in terms of how much the users succeed or fail in accession to the information they seek.

This study is aimed at examination and analysis of current status of university library's line and staff organization especially the private university's. Motivation for this study is based on the following facts : First, the library work now is changing from the conventional one to automated one. Second, librarians in the front line must be trained in the newly set work because of the separation of work process in automated libraries. Methodologies of this study, apart from theoretical aspects, were visiting and interviewing librarians at 30 university libraries, examining the current status and problems of the line and staff organization of the university libraries. The result from the study is as follows: First, interviewing reveals that 35% of the 75 private university library is having 'associate directorship by librarian' system. Benefits from this system are described, recommending other University libraries adopt this system. This system su n.0, pplements the weak point of concurrent director's office of lay professor, as well as encourages librarian's morale by promotion. Second, the current organization of the university libraries are to be reformed. Namely, 1) the name of each division must be newly and a n.0, ppropriately set of changed suiting for the work of automated library, thus reforming the division. This must be conducted via collection of opinions of the Korean Library and Information Science Society' and associated organizations. 2) Newly formed division(for example, administrative division or division of operation and management, division conducting digital library work, etc.) must be added to the line and staff organization. 3) For information service division, there must be a certain number of subject specialists. 4) Status of the directorship of university library, librarianship, issue of renaming of university library are also described.

본 연구의 목적은 대학도서관이 급격한 환경변화 속에 있는 대학의 환경을 반영하고, 정보기술의 발전을 반영함으로써 대학을 리드하는 기관으로서 우뚝 서기 위한 전략을 모색하기 위함이다. 이를 위해 대학도서관 사서들을 대상으로 설문을 수행하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학도서관 사서는 대학도서관과 관련된 빅이슈가 "대학도서관진흥법", 대학도서관 평가 및 평가지표, 대학에서의 대학도서관의 가치, 대학도서관의 공간구성 및 기능변화라고 하였고, 대학의 환경변화, 정부의 대학에 대한 정책, 각종 국책사업, 각종 구조개혁이 대학도서관에 영향을 상당히 미친다고 하였다. 둘째, 대학도서관 사서는 도서관의 역할 변화로 학생의 정보자원 및 기술의 활용능력 향상, 학생의 독서능력 향상, 대학구성원의 연구능력 향상, 대학구성원 학습역량 향상 등에 기여할 수 있다고 하였다. 셋째, 대학도서관 사서는 이용자가 대학도서관에 가장 높게 요구하는 서비스를 전자책 및 정보자원의 확대 등으로 생각하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

The Long-Term Development Plan of the Pusan National University(PNU) has announced on 1991 in order to reach its roles and levels as an University with international standards, a Graduate School research-oriented and a core university in its community through accomplishment of this Plan. University libraries would be planned to support their universities' goals. Therefore the Library of PNU is facing on the task for supporting the Plan. The Collection for Korean Classical Materials (CKCM) is not limited in Korean Literature, Korean History, Korean Philosophy fields but covered the academic fields except a hightech science : Humanities, social science. pure science, applied science and arts etc. However, the Library of PNU does not have the organization, special librarian and budget for CKCM. Under this notion organization, budget and librarian for the collection would be followed. The CKCM contains the original editions, photography editions, copied issues. microform reproductions with comprehensive subjects in the fields of studies. Especially for the collection of treasure books the role of the Library of PNU induce to open individuals' collections or families' collections to public through the Library. The equipments for preserving rare books and treasure books are the conditioners for humidity and temperature, automatic extinguishment system. The reference materials, copy machine and reading room are requested for the user service of CKCM. The materials would be one of the most important thing in study and research. Therefore the Library of PNU need to pay attention to develop and preserve CKCM.

For decades, general services and accounting officers have been dominant forces in collection development activities in college and university libraries in Korea. The role of certified librarians has been rather peripheral. This has been allowed by the fact that library acquisitions departments had to be headed by non-librarian general administrative officers by the government regulation. The philosophy behind this regulation was that acquiring library materials was not any different from simple purchasing act of other useful goods in the marketplace. In affiliation with the element of general administrative officers, domestic book-sellers also had a great influence in collection building activities in college and university libraries in Korea. This has been made possible by the fact that no other people could su n.0, pply library materials, especially foreign library materials. It has been pointed out for years that the mechanism in which general administrative officers and domestic book-sellers had a greater say in library acquisitions activities was especially inefficient in acquiring wanted materials in wanted speed and in wanted price. In this mechanism, books and periodicals were mere goods. They were not perceived as intellectual property holding information and knowledge in them. Since the student movement to revolutionize the library system of the Pusan National University, September 1987 to December 1988, the creative and progressive elements in this university library have been making great efforts to change the acquisitions system in this library into a more efficient one by putting certified librarians at the center of the whole acquisitions process. These efforts have been successful to a certain degree. In this discursive study of the case of the Pusan National University Library, I have tried to achieve a social description of the library process in which progressively motivated librarians succeeded in alienating administrative officers and book-sellers and in grasping in their hands the hegemony in the collection building aspect of library activities. It has been discovered that this was possible only when the librarians were mature enough to have their kind of professionalism, i.e., professional ethics and craftsmanship.

인터넷을 통해서 수집할 수 있는 정보가 방대해지고 검색엔진이 고도화되면서 웹을 사용해서 정보를 수집하는 것이 일반화되었다. 전자책 등 디지털 자료는 인터넷이 가능한 곳에서는 어디서든지 이용할 수 있으며 디지털 정보에 대한 수요는 더욱 더 늘어날 것이다. 본 연구에서는 디지털 자료의 중요성과 비중이 커짐에 따라 전통적인 종이 자료와 디지털 자료의 모두를 한 공간에서 다루는 새로운 도서관의 모델을 제안하기 위해 문헌조사, 큐슈대학 부속도서관의 각종 통계자료 분석, 도면 및 현장조사 등을 분석하였다. 연구결과 도서관은 자료의 제공 이외에도 학습의 장소, 커뮤니티를 위한 사람들의 교류의 장소 등 사회 문화적 역할도 중요하며, 또한 디지털 자료의 비중이 커지면서 도서관 "공간"의 역할에 대하여 근본적으로 재검토할 필요가 있었다. 도서관의 공간을 매체의 형태와는 관계없이 주제 중심으로 하나의 공간에 재구성하는 하이브리드도서관에서는 이용자가 동일한 지역에 체류하면서 도서관자료나 인적서비스 등 원스톱 서비스를 제공 받을 수 있다.

The purpose of this research is to investigate into possibility of the university library information services for small and medium sized firms. The study is based entirely upon general means of information gathering used by industrial user analyzed by industry su n.0, pporting institutes and university library statistics. The results of the investigation are summarized as follows: 1. Locational convenience is a factor influencing use of libraries, either because libraries are close to work, or because users are used on an o n.0, pportunistic basis. University libraries are located throughout the country. 2. It is investigated that university library services should be more specific in their promotion, clearly stating their strengths and special or unique aspects of their services. 3. When university library does establish fees, good service is implied and must be provided through suitable procedures and staff arrangements.

지식과 정보를 저장하고 전달하는 매체의 발달과 기술의 진보는 도서관의 기능을 다각적으로 변모시키고 있다. 즉 도서관은 전통적 도서관에서 발전하여 이용자가 도서관을 방문할 필요 없이 컴퓨터를 매개로 하여 자관의 전자정보는 물론 원거리의 도서관에 직접 접근하여 원하는 정보를 얻게 되는 전자도서관으로 향하고 있다. 본 연구는 전자도서관 서비스를 지향하는 관점에서 어느 정도 국내 대학도서관에서 전자정보를 구성, 활용하고 있는지를 알아보았다. 이를 위해 외국에서의 전자도서관 구축현황을 살펴 본 후 OPAC, 온라인 상용 데이터베이스, CD-ROM 데이터베이스, 전자문헌구축, 타 도서관 OPAC에의 접근, 기타 인터넷 정보자원을 그 구성요인으로 하여 모형을 제시하고 이를 토대로 국내 대학도서관의 실제 현황을 조사분석하였다.
